I think a lot of the forum are underestimating what Madge has in mind for next year...I dont even know if Jimmy coming to us has Madges approval,he has to coach this mob to win games, but I dare say all of the BJ knockers and critics of the club should just wait and see what pans out next year...
Benji gone out of the backline and I think you will see a vast improvement from BJ ...he is an awesome ball runner and should get heaps more ball next year...Jimmy in there as well and we should see a lot more go forward than sideways..
I will wait until all the dust settles and view everything after Xmas....

Jimmy may not get a start...who knows...

Talau is at the point where consistent first grade is imperative for his development. if we plan for him to be one of our long term centres, he needs to be there week in week out. I don't see the point of Roberts being here for that reason. for starters we have Talau, Kepaoa, M'Bye, Leilua, Momirovski, Kei and Hoffman already on our books, and he'll block the pathways of the young ones.

That’s exactly what JAC would have done though ! Because , I don’t think he was playing fullback all of next season .

JAC's a winger mate, all of those are centres. like most on here I think neither Roberts nor Mansour is a good idea. go after a winger with X factor on minimal dollars and spend the remaining money on a backrower and/or a front rower if the news is true about Aloiai.

I thought Pascoe had absolutely nothing to do with recruitment?

What we've been told is that
- Other people in the club handle all of the recruitment.
- Pascoe is one vote on a committee which decides whether to offer a contract.
- Pascoe has the power to veto a signing if he wants (which he never does).

I too am interested in why he is there.

Was that info from Pascoe?

If i was at the Helm at WT ,first thing i would do is grab Pascoe by the ear and waltz him into my barber in Drummoyne.

No need the barber comes to us..

Hartigan was with him at the secret cafe meeting in full view of the public

I'd only sign Jimmy if he is on junior wages, not star wages. The games I have seen the last few years looks like he lost all his pace and explosiveness, and I am not sure what he offers without that. Gamble to say he will get it back.

Pass on Jimmy and a wide berth and should not be considered even at a cheap price, rather update existing contracts to players that develop and retain.

Blinding pace but if heads not right which seems to be defense is very lackluster. Walked out on Souths with a contract sounds like more too it?
Has mental health issues that really need dealing with prior and think we would spend half our time managing him than playing, also wonder what culture would bring to younger players not really a shining example.

So far we have heard Pascoe rumors with Mansour and now Roberts surely energy better spent doing something else.

Some people seem to be recalling the former boom youngster and speed demon. These days he's a highly injury prone, mentally damaged addict loser that's been sacked from 3-4 clubs already. For disciplinary reasons.
He's not who he was, and we need to sign players based on who they will be not who they were.
I find it incredibly insulting that Pascoe even met with Roberts, if they talked about the possibility of him joining us.

If true, what odds can we get of Jimmy and BJ getting arrested during the off-season?

Together

Yes, together. Sportsbet might have something.

SMH could run a double page spread with the WTs' logo all over it.

Honestly, i know the club is trying, BUT i just don't feel that other clubs discards is the way to go. If you want to win a comp they must persist chasing A graders.
In saying that,i am sure in the event we do sign him,it shouldn't cost us too much! His defence worries me.

Sometimes it can work out. The bulldogs and us couldn't get through to Suli, but it seems Manly might have been the right fit.

If he's cheap and it's a gap filler before JAC, then why not?

1. Mbye
2. Talau
3. Jimmy
4. BJ
5. Noffa

It's passable

.....without sounding facetious here, in your honest opinion. Does that look like a backline that is of top 8 material??

Would definitely give 9th place a red hot crack.

Not worth the risk. Clearly has demons that he can’t control feel sorry for the bloke but it’s not our business we’ve got enough crap going on at WT

Completely agree! Wrong bloke at the wrong time.
Too many red flags for a club that cannot avoid media scrutiny, will be a disaster for all involved.

Kicked out of comp

With all Jimmy's downsides there definitely is a few upsides though I questions his mental state and the ability to stay on the right track for a full season let alone a full contract.

With his record he's basically in the last chance saloon so based on this a 1yr deal max with club option for a further yr. Offer absolutely no more than 300k, more like 200-250k with performance/behavioral based incentives. In a nut shell if he wants to earn decent $$ he needs to perform well and stay out of trouble. May even be worth putting a "No drink or no play" clause too to keep him off the sauce.

This will be yet another blow for the Tigers who continue to recruit the Dregs of the league.

We are all well aware of Jimmy's many issues but maybe Madge can use the Jet as bait to get JAC. If the Jet signs a 2 year deal (2nd year in club's favour) at a bargain price then JAC given some believe he wants to play footy with his mates at Souths will now have a mate at the Tigers to hang out with if we can offer the right money and maybe the fullback option this may sway him, only a thought...…………...ok maybe not a great idea!!

With all the criticism about Roberts, can anyone nominate a winger who is off contract and is better than what Wests Tigers have at the moment? And I am not talking about someone in the $700k range which is what JAC knocked back.

would JAC want a project like Roberts? Would Madge? it's a gamble but if it pays off would be sweet, and we would finally get some pace on our edges.

JAC didn't knock back 700k, Tigers didn't offer him anywhere near that much upfront. From all reports it was closer to 500k + incentives if he plays a certain number of games at FB which to start off with is a big 'IF'. It was Melb who blocked the move in the end due to Tigers not providing a suitable swap.

''However Roberts, who has had a tough upbringing struggled in isolation during the coronavirus season shutdown period and checked himself into a rehabilitation clinic with the support of Souths to deal with anxiety and depression ''. (that was just abit out of the fox sports article on the secret meeting)

Anxiety is a demon of a problem and mixed with depression isnt something anyone wants to be dealing with. So imagine when you tell someone thats dealing with these issues that your pay will be cut down to half on a one year deal with another year in the clubs favour.
The anxiety and depression levels would go through the roof.
