Roberts done deal I’m told.

I’ll drink to that

Agreed. The fact he’s willing to accept a fraction of his previous contracts leads me to believe he knows this is 100% his last chance.

Being such a prodigious talent coming up through the grades, I imagine up until getting the boot from Souths he had never even considered he might need to find a real job so soon. That is a very strong motivation to finally turn things around.

Honest question, who has turned their career around at Wests?

Good players have left and become great players but i cant recall any out of form/last chance players actually doing anything other than being a draw on the cap.

In saying that, worth a gamble I guess not like there is much to pick from at the moment but i fully expect if Wests sign him he will be part of Plodder's Inc.

Todd Payten comes to mind. Played his best football, by far, once he came to Wests. Matterson did alright as well.

Grant played origin after one season with us

That’s all Melbourne’s doing, apparently ?

Not one mention of Harry playing for WT"s this year.

Actually one of them did mention that he played really well at the Tigers this year, I think it was Warren. Other than that it was all about how the Storm have nurtured him to be the player he is now, which I guess is true.

The fact we are looking at Jimmy shows how desperate Tigers are to sign someone, almost anyone. Total desperation.

Why? There are a number of successful clubs who make similar signings. If we’re paying big $ maybe, but if he’s fit and good value we’d be nuts not to consider it.

You cannot add a bloke like that to a group that on face value hasn’t had a true leader in a while and that reportedly hates training hard. An absolute recipe for disaster. If Wayne gives up on you, there’s a reason.

Whilst I think Mansour would be a colossal mistake, Roberts at min wage is worth the risk. If (and it's a big if) he can get back to 70% of his old form, he'll be one of our best players. If he delivers nothing, no big deal.

There’s more to the Souths story that we don’t know about. And reading the media today Lee/Justin/Adam didn’t bother asking what that was. Another case of WT dropping the ball in my opinion. Read Wayne Bennett’s book, he is famous for getting the best of of troubled young men, he’s given up on Jimmy.

Don't get me wrong, i have zero faith in management, but in my opinion at min wage he's worth the risk. We have a very pedestrian backline, he'd add something (maybe).

Bring Daine Laurie or similar in, give a young guy an opportunity, if we can’t get stars I want guys who want to be pros.

The Riff at the moment will not release him for 2021 - we have to wait till 2022.

Why not both? 2021 will be painful anyway, trot out a backline of:

1. Laurie
2. Nofo
3. BJ
4. Jet
5. AJ
6. AD
7. Brooks

and see what happens. It might be terrible it might be good. Certainly won't be boring though.

Rather give Momo a try and Tommy is going ok, still young and Storm wanted him, he’s going to get there

Momo is a plodder. I'd rather Roberts or Talau or AJ ahead of Momo.

I'd rather Momo - has a better try strike rate.

Think he’ll be in CC Russ. We’re not buying the Jet to play reserve grade.

I would really love to know why he is forfeiting $500k at Souths and a month later happy to go to WT on scraps . there seems to be much more to the story of Souths letting him go

Simple. They sacked him. Roberts had no say in the matter.

At $150k it is hardly an issue, we have other players to rotate, it's not like he is going to be soaking up $800k a year, the signing has everything in our favour, unlike Ivan's signings

What are we going to do Avo when he runs off the rails as usual.

Then we’ll put in Talau. If Talau gets injured we can play AJ there.

IMHO Talau has a high ceiling and next year will be his break out year, Storm wanted him and they simply don’t miss on recruitment, lock him up Tigers.

Agree! Talau is a solid future 6. imo

Could be. I haven’t seen his ball skills and kicking game really, to me he looks like a really solid centre, bit like a Jamie Lyon type as he hits his physical peak.

He looks like a centre to me. He has miles to go before he becomes a good player but we should give him a chance. Talau and BJ as our centre pairing. I'm happy to get Roberts so long as it is a deal in our favor

SMH reporting it’s done. I wouldn’t have done it, not happy about it, but hope to be proven wrong.

Now let’s grab a marquee from somewhere please.

We’ve got a lot of centres for next year that’s for sure. We need a winger more than we needed another centre but he’s cheap and has some upside. Guess we’ll have to wait and see

Good gamble in my books. We're getting him for about the same price Parra are paying Bryce Cartwright and Jordan Rankin.
