Seriously, isolation is heaven. Read a book, learn an instrument, do craft, watch a movie. It’s not the end of the world.

We know that, because if it was we wouldn’t be locked up.

Just as a side note , there’s no way on earth qld government would kick out the NRL . For starters it would basically be career suicide . And secondly , any chance of ever hosting a grand final or things like magic round , the all stars game etc . And say what you will those things cause a huge money injection when they’re on.
Especially with the amount of money the state is about to bleed on olympics infrastructure in the next 10 years .

I’d like to think this but the rhetoric coming from the chief doctor in the recent past is concerning…for her to basically say “she’s close to kicking the NRL out” (Jul 23rd) boggles my mind.

I don't know if the Health Minister has the power / clout to make that kind of move. She can moan all she likes, and there's every chance she doesn't like the NRL anyway.

Imagine if the QLD Govt did dismiss the NRL competition over a few girls during Origin and a fellow walking out onto a balcony. Don't get me wrong the Origin guys were exceptionally foolish and deserved to be heavily sanctioned for not being able to manage holding off having a root (and cheating too I think, they both have girlfriends). The Dragons guys also very foolish but at the very least that was in NSW and Shellharbour is not a COVID hotzone.

But the balcony? I don't get it. And yeah I know those are rules, sometimes rules are stupid. To tape down the balcony doors... they aren't international travellers, right? They had negative COVID tests before they left NSW? I'm not entirely sure of the justification for taping balconies shut but it seems draconian to me, without a better explanation provided.

Also those who criticise Jet, you have no idea, never walked in the man's shoes, maybe he was having some sort of panic and just needed to catch his breath. I see other people criticising the club on this thread - you can't be responsible for 100% of activities of people with mental health issues, but that also does not mean you remove opportunities and freedoms from those people simply because they have a history.

If Jet was in Sydney, he'd not be out and about with his friends and family either. Only whomever he lives with.

But going back to the QLD pollies, you can only imagine if they did kick the NRL out for a few breaches, PVL will swiftly tell them not to expect the NRL GF or extra Origins or possibly even Magic Round for the next few decades. Perth and Auckland and Adelaide are hoping and praying for the QLD Govt to make that mistake.

Jeanette Young isn't the Health minister. Up until now, the Govt. has taken the advice of her as Chief Medical Officer.
Having negative Covid tests prior to traveling isn't a water tight guarantee. We've had multiple examples of people with negative tests later proving to end up Covid positive. The tape I would imagine would be a reminder to not go out through the door. Nothing more than that. Take the tape off and you're intentionally flouting the rules in place - basically breaking the law.
From the vision, he didn't appear to be having any sort of panic attack. He looked to be pretty casual - probably much like when he went to the boxing unmasked last year. He did go to the boxing unmasked didn't he? Sitting with the general public? Without an exemption?

Qld government has offered the nrl 20mill to host the final series

The Premier will over ride Dr Jeannette Young, if it means hosting the NRL finals.

Those QLD sub-premier pollies are like barking dogs on a leash, just waiting to have a go, get their moment in the national sun. The deputy Steven Miles is a weirdo. It's like watching a murder of Sir Johs.

Come on Jirskyr, you're better than that. It's not like that at all. They are desperate to keep QLD Covid free. They get flogged by all land sundry outside of QLD for being so strict with their Covid policy, but up until now, their policies have worked very well in terms of achieving that Covid free goal. Yes, we lock down quickly & yes we wear masks because we follow the advice. If you appreciate your football, maybe thank the pollies for the policies that have allowed the game to carry on. Don't get me wrong - they are a weird bunch, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the game is only still going because of QLD govt. policies. What really annoyed the Health officer prior to this incident, were the multiple breaches of the rules in place. the latest of which was people handing stuff to each other around balcony walls - in effect, breaking quarantine. That's why balconies were considered to be out of bounds.

Their is an article in todays Daily Rag saying players in QLd are no longer allowed to go to the pub or nightclubs but can still go to cafes and restaurants, go to the beach and get out and spend time with their family. Shows what an absolute joke this whole thing is = so while most players are out and about JTJ may be suspended for the rest of the season for going out on his balcony by himself.

So why aren't those teams/players associated with these families breaking the law, as you put it, being targetted by the media. Those families in isolation would have been given the same rules and stipulations as JTJ.

That's got nothing to do with the govt. You'd have to ask the media those questions. But the people that have done the wrong thing would have been dealt with by the authorities even if just a warning. But there's only so many warnings those making decisions will take. JTJ obviously cares naught for the game or for authority.

Did the 14 days in Quarantine, had a balcony and it was a saviour, I have worked, and have been accomodated in third world countries, so it's not just about sucking it up and toughing it out. Please remember it was others that were passing items between their balconies that restricted the players and families. Good luck to Jimmy, i know it was the wrong thing to do, but I also understand why he did.

In response to all the “why did the tigers take him at all with his past history etc etc” I think that it may have been better for his mental health to try and get him back in the squad. Tigers could be trying to do the right thing by Jimmy. I can see the potential harm in being left behind by himself in lockdown in Sydney. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

How hard is it your told your going to Qld keep your head down for 14days don't do anything stupid and your going to get paid as well. You can see where WT'S and Madges problems are the players just can't simple instructions on or off the field.

Being stuck in a hotel room without fresh air is not something that is easy for some people.

100%. The weekend that Greater Sydney got put into lockdown (including Blue Mountains and Central Coast,) we travelled up to Coffs Harbour. Left the Saturday morning and arrived about midday. When we left and arrived we were not under the same restrictions as the rest of Sydney. Gladys in her neverending wisdom locked down Blue Mountains and Central Coast that evening.

We had the choice to stay in our room for five days or come home. We stayed that night and came home on the Sunday as I wouldn't have handled being stuck in a single bed apartment for nigh on a week. At least at home I could have exercised and I have a big backyard to kick or throw a ball around.

This is not normal human behaviour that we are exercising. We are extremely social animals, and Jim has always been very forthright about his mental health issues. I would hope there's a bit of understanding here, especially since the club tried to work with the QLD government to get him support in isolation.

I will be extremely pissed off if he serves any time, given the knobs that attended Vaughan's party copped a week.

Yes ref the QLD pollies .. The Premier just returned from going to Japan for the 2032 Olympic Games decision .. she is currently doing 14 days in a giant king suite 2 bedroom family room in the The Western 5 Star plus hotel in Brisbane. Hope they pictures of her out on the massive balconey .. !!

And yes .. JTJ has mental issues .. being locked in a small room for 14 days in his condition wouldn't be the ideal situation for anyone .. let alone having mental demons to deal with .. !!

Breaking quarantine? They eat together and share a common room. Closing the balconies was about protecting the governments image, nothing more than that.

They didn't fly up until over a week later, so still have time to go. The QLD government has been unreasonable in regards to the families of players. They changed the rules that were in place after the families arrived. Maybe some would have decided not to travel under the current quarantine requirements but they weren't given that chance.

I will comment the club for attempting to look after the welfare of those families, advocating on their behalf and we were the 1st club to send in care packages for the families.
