Play every play like it is your last play Jock
Don't die wondering
Hope you kill it
**And if he does take too many risks and they don't come off he will get slaughtered on here as well. Whoever our halfback is it seems they are on a hiding to nothing.....too many low risk plays/not enough off the cuff footy, it is a razor-thin balance.**
Haven't seen too much about Madden to get excited about TBH, but I hope he has an absolute blinder. Every week I hope every one of our blokes has a great game, they are our team after all?.
But the reward (if it comes off) is massive, he will become rich beyond his dreams and feted throughout the league.
But as Happy_Tiger says, don't die wondering, he may not get another chance?
But we have had a few blokes recently, Gamble, Hoffman and Cini who have had 1 dodgy game and been caned straight back to reserve grade for it (Gamble wasn't that bad in his debut but bore the brunt of a pathetic loss). That would have to kill a young blokes confidence....and faith in the club's systems TBH when they see established players playing like garbage week after week yet still getting picked for first grade.
I hope Madden just plays the percentages tomorrow, a solid debut. If he goes all out and his plays come off, great. If he does that and they fail he will be the scapegoat banished to KOE Cup history tells us. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't unfortunately.
Hoffman was never intended to play more than the one game. And he was fine.
Who said he was only intended to play one game?
He wasn't bad in that game, hardly great, from memory Mbye playing inside him rushed in plenty of times and left Hoffman stranded. Rabbitohs scored 4 or 5 tries down that flank. Not all Hoffman's fault but he was the one to get punted to reserve grade after it.
Because he was only picked cos we were low on numbers and he was on a development contract. He had to be given an exemption by the NRL.
Fair enough. He hasn't been given a 2nd chance at all though this season suggesting his cards might be marked after the team's horror showing in his debut.
