First game in 6 weeks , 1st game in nrl against the defending premiers with Kikau and TPj running at you he did really well today and outplayed Brooksy.

Is more an organising half and our defence on the right side looked better because he was positioned much better the Douehi does.

Kicked well and organsied well

Really interested to see how he goes v dogs

Good on Hartigan and Madge for copping the criticism and carrying on with the plan for the future of the great WTs....

Considering he has not played a game of footy for a while and would be under done he did a great job. We just played the top team at FULL strength with hardly any possession. He has quite a big boot on him also so looking forward to seeing him next week.

He looked ok but still a couple of years away I think. Unfortunate that we didn’t have many attacking sets in their 20 to see what he has to offer

I don't get caught up on numbers. Madden is at 7 because he is an organiser. Doueihi with his size and mobility is a far more effective 13 than our other options. He will need to work on his defence and fitness.

Really good game, you guys are way understating his performance. Panthers were dominant and he still looked good despite a long layoff in only his second game. Only concern for me is he has little speed or size. But distribution, defense and kicking was well done.

He should be considered for one of the halves spots next year.


Even as others have suggested, perhaps try Brooks at hooker. Obviously only one good game by Madden, just should be an option. Something like doueihi at lock with Madden and Brooks in halves or Brooks at hooker with doueihi-madden in halves. Obviously, Hastings to consider as well, so that would be another consideration all together.

I like madden I think he has a big future! I don’t believe he’s a 5/8 though. I think he will make a great half back! U could see him barking at the others !! Good young prospect IMO

He certainly looks like a first grader. His kicking was great and he was confident at the line. I think he was playing halfback today, I think Madge gets confused with numbers sometimes, he seems to like switching around the front rowers numbers constantly.

They played the 2nd best team in the comp and it was windy enough that even Cleary skewed a bunch of kicks. I thought he held his own regardless of those excuses.

He has a role in first grade. He will not make us a top 8 side. On a side note, I can’t stand Cleary Jr. I wish Uto would have smashed him.

Madden has had 1 x 80 minute NRL game against the best halves in the NRL and did little wrong. Needs a lot of work yes, but he showed promise. You are comparing him to 150+ game veteran, really. I would not expect Madden to be better than Brooks at this stage of Madden’s career.

Madden shows a hell of a lot of potential considering there has been no KOE CUP and he played 80 against the best side in the 2021 premiership...1 full NRL game compared to 160 that our 1/2 and captain has played and everyone wants to get rid of Brooks and dont want to let Jock develop in NRL...
Some on here just have absolutely no patience or football knowledge on what it takes to be a competative NRL player...

Agree. I would be tempted to roll the dice and let Brooks go. And give first crack to Jock next year. Going in with the same experienced players we have isn't working.

I noticed he was playing first receiver too and thought it was a better option than what was named. Panthers looked like they had really fast line speed all game and I think that stifled our attack and we failed to adjust

Got stuck in out there and didn't shirk his responsibility. Defence is his weakpoint and Kikau had a field day against him but he at least put his body in the way and didn't roll over like a mouse. Kicking game was ok. Passing game can be improved but again, he hasn't played in a couple of months so there was always going to be some rust there.
