Joe Ofahengaue #240

No need to force him to stay, but keep him until we get something we want in return from the party that enticed him to break his contract. Joe O is appreciated, but we could sign him regardless of Josh.

Make Manly pay otherwise it just keeps happening.

Manly need to offer something or Josh stays. Up to him if he wants to be selected in FG or not - he is good enough the question will be if he is mature enough.

I'm almost ready to let the sook walk if we can use his money or squad spot to improve our roster.

Definitely. Get rid of the goose

Need to get something out of manly otherwise we're soft again and open it to future abuse.

Get the NRL to prevent it from happening again.

That's why Lee has been trying to arrange a meeting with V''Landys to legislate for all clubs.

I'd be very happy with Joe, @Tiger_Steve I feel is form last year was a blip on the radar and we will see him back to previous form. This could be a massive signing for us. What is your opinion mate?

Sleeping giant. Very damaging runner when motivated. Would take him over Aloiai in a heartbeat. Only concern would be his mentality- will he respond to Madge’s hard line approach?

Madge has a reputation (that’s worse than he actually is) and he would know about it before signing the contract. Anyone who signs to play under Madge knows they’ll have to work their butt off and look how it goes for the guys who buy in.

Exactly . Look at Matterson . Was fringe origin With us .Sure his team won , but he will never play origin under Freddy. If you’re complaining about day to day training that’s hardly conducive for origin attitude , famous for people getting their head stapled on the half way line.
And as in the case of Harry grant , Luci Leilua , Adam Doueihi, even josh Aloiai if you put in you will reap the rewards. Even benji was singing the praises of Madge , and I don’t think that was hyperbole .

I Don't think it's a straight-out swap!! Joe will be here regardless, Lee was pretty pissed and I think that Manly is the only one that can save Josh's NRL carreer,

Trade him to Penrith for the year so we can get our new fullback

Not really....we get Joe O 'and' still would be stuck with another forward mowing lawns.

We release him, sign Joe O and thus still have money for other positions of need. That money may end up getting us someone better than a player Manly will discard.

That's is an issue, but I believe its more an issue for Madge than Joe.

Was just thinking if we are signing him it needs to be now. He needs a full preseason under Madge as he was way off the pace last season

By the sounds of it, this is moving quickly. I think if we sign him it will be in the next week.

Main NRL squad due back on November 30..plenty of time..

Why not just keep him until we identify a player, otherwise there’s the risk we let him go and sign no one. We have salary cap left and he’s not on huge money.

Yea that’s true . We can still search now for that person . There’s nothing stopping us. The issue is , that there is absolutely nothing on the market right now for edge backrowers . So I would assume Curtis Sironen is probably the number 1 option .

He doesn’t have to come to training. Let him sit out if he wants to never wear our jersey again.

He can sign his contract with Manly and play for them in 2022 no problems - until then he is contracted to us. Other players/ clubs manage to do it.

Fleggler just signed a 2-year extension with the Ponies. Clearing the decks, wheels in motion for Joe

They can’t let the sook go, because it will be 2 years running where the club has talked tough in media (matto and now JA) and they will not have backed it up.
JA needs to be banished to CC or player swap with manly

It'd be cutting off our nose to spite our face if we just let Aloiai rot in CC. Get rid of the jerk and we can use his money for something useful.

I disagree. Let Aloiai be 20th man all year and never play a single minute. He can be the tackling bag at training. This sends a strong message to every player manager out there. Don’t mess with the Wests Tigers or your client will end up on the scrap heap. Well worth the money.

Unless we can get something significant in return he can rot as a tackling bag and the 20th man.

I agree with this. We may end up with a short term disadvantage if we force JA to stay, but long term it will benefit the club and its reputation.
I believe if he was not released, he would 'put in' in an effort to stay in the top grade. He's a footballer. That's what he wants to do - play footy.
Hopefully though, it will be resolved - JA to Manly and Curtis or some other benefit coming our way in return.

That’s brutal. You’d basically go close to ruining his career . He wouldn’t even be playing reserves

Seriously though , the eels and manly really get up to some grubby stuff behind the scenes . Even the roosters don’t do the tampering and skullduggery these 2 get up to. If there’s something dodgy happening behind the scenes these 2 clubs are never too far away .

With so many good young players to come through our system, we'd be naive to believe this won't be tried on again if not stopped by the NRL.

Manly should provide us with salary cap relief if we release Aloiai.
