Joe Ofahengaue #240

I like him. Future member of the leadership group. Will be part of the forward pack that wins a comp with us in a few years. Hopefully he's in TPJ's ear.

I can't remember the player involved in the Knights match .....but you watch the team is grouped up about 30 metres away and Jo O comes from the group to give the player a hand up and pat on the head

I admit I was worried about his antics at Brisbane ...but he probably is our best signing

It was Doueihi after the video ref confirmed the try where he tapped it on. I was impressed as well and mentioned in the game thread. Joffo looks like he has a great attitude and is buying in.

Had my doubts. Proven me wrong. Thankfully back in the middle now. Edge was a disaster imo

Ofahengaue is a good leader..

He was brought in to play that middle roll where he is most effective..playing him on an edge was stupid and a coaching mistake..

Thankfully smarter heads have prevailed..

I think he has been excellent.

Makes good metres but can still give some good offloads and open up attacking opportunities.

Just what we needed.

I reckon it was worth a try though ..if it came off it would have been a massive financial windfall for us

Yes it was if it comes off saves us hundreds of thousands of dollars in chasing a quality back rower ....big picture man ...big picture ...it has been ok to spend 8 years ...never mind

Except the club knew when he was signed that he wasn't a second rower. In fact the club signed based on the knowledge that his poor performances at the Broncos were when they played him in the 2nd row.

The big picture is he sucks in the back row ..he will always suck in the back row..he will never be a back rower..they knew this ..it was never in 150 million years going to come off..

His strength is as a middle of the field..you select your players where they are most effective..

Isn't lock the backrow ?

He is definitely a lock. I was concerned about his signing but I think he is pretty good and does the job at lock.

He doesn't have long minutes in him though.

not in modern NRL...in our team..Lock runs and tackles in the middle of the field Ofahengaue is effective as he knows how to defend at the ruck..that's an asset in a Wests Tigers team..he also knows how to run hard back against the markers with a quick play the ball...so why in the hell would you play him wide off the ruck where he is ineffective

Ofahengaue could play 60 minutes high intencity easy..played 51 mins yesterday

I agree that he is a middle player and not an edge player. He is pretty good in the middle. I don't think he has long minutes in him though. I see him making mistakes. Yesterday he was good all game and I think the lesser minutes helped him.

I'm really glad to see him coming into his own now.

He's the first player that I don't feel angry toward when he's being friendly to the other team even after a frustrating loss, because he does put in and give a dam when the game is playing.
