Last week was the first time i'v seen him play and in a beaten team he played really well. i was particularly impressed with his defence, he made an amazing try saving tackle.

I hope we don't let go of him, he looks to have great potential.

bit of info for you….

Joel Jackson has signed with West Tigers and starts his NRL career mid-November.
...
"I'm excited to be going to the Tigers but it's going to be hard to leave my family and friends," Jackson said.
...
But the Tigers will arrange for Jackson to live with a support family when he makes the move and they will also provide a job for him.
>
His contract includes substantial bonuses if he makes the NRL team or achieves junior representative honours.
>
Meanwhile Jackson played soccer until just four years ago, when he switched codes. Since then he has played in the Under 16s Minor League grand final winning side and this year won two grand finals, on the same day - under 18s and A grade. He has also played with representative sides the Northern Thunderbolts and the Group 19 senior team.
>
Jackson's first year in rugby league was with the Glen Innes Under 16s in 2005 which he didn't enjoy.
>
"We got flogged every game but the next year we won the competition," he said.
>
He also won the best and fairest award in that U16s competition, the first Glen Innes player to do so.
>
Jackson has had a previous offer from another NRL club the Cronulla Sharks and a trial in Parramatta, secured through his manager Isaac Mosses.
...
During the year, he stepped up to senior football, scoring two superb individual tries against a very strong Guyra reserve grade team in his first senior outing.
>
He proved his toughness week after week by playing Under 18s and then backing up for the senior side.
>
This year was a memorable one for Jackson who won his second successive Group 19 Under 18s best and fairest award and played in both Glen Innes grand final winning teams, combining with his junior skipper, Nick Ehsman, to achieve the rare feat of winning two grand finals on the same day.
...
"That was a great day," Jackson said with a grin.
...
**Jackson's speed and strength saw him tally more than 50 tries in each of the past two seasons,** while his defensive work improved out of sight this year.
...
Then, after a short break in Glen, Jackson will return for new season preparation with the Under 20 squad.

Jackson is signed for 2 years......he's only 19....

Funnily enough he only got a start when Roqica turned up late for training and hasn't looked back since..........

This kid has impressed me every game I've seen him.

Big, fast and aggressive. Also willing to get involved.

Reminds me a little of Mick Hancock.

That's a good comparison. He does what few other wingers or fullbacks in our club do. RUNS THE BALL BACK HARD and in a straight line.

That try he made last week was awesome as well.
The whole u20s team will have to play in top gear tommorrow if they are going to beat the defending Champions 😛ray:

Great point,he really does get a rattle on and hit it back hard.

I lked him the first game he played and nothing has changed in my mind.

Very good prospect.

i dont think any of our outside backs have really shone this year.

its been our halves, fullback and forwards that have got us to the finals.

I hate to disagree but Tuaki, Lawrence and Ayshford seemed to have pretty good years to me.

Your right. Until Jackson showed up. Jake Clarke, Joel Wisbey, Sama Savou, Junior Roqica et al haven't been particularly impressive. But Jackson HAS.

i was thinking the same thing
Hancock was one of my fave wingers growing up and i reckon jackson a hancock clone for sure

That absolutely sucks. He was going fantastic. IIRC he got injured in a game making his comeback from long term injury correct?

I believe he had played a handful of games in coming back from a shoulder reconstruction. The broken ankle/leg against the Storm was the worst injury I have seen.
