Joey Leilua #226

Old Magpies fans might recall the late Peter Dimond, a champion representative winger, switching to the Maggies second row for a season or two towards then end of his playing career. Move was a great success. Pete was fairly big for a winger though probably not quite as big as BJ. Game is a lot different now but BJ in the forwards just might work.

Rowdy there are others this is not as bad an idea that many think .

What are everyone's thoughts of moving BJ to the back row? Possibly roaming lock?

I believe he'd be good at the role, with that needed "Link" man.

Read somewhere this morning that BJ is interested in moving to the backrow as he stated he wanted more involvement, will have to improve his fitness before this can happen.

He wouldn’t have the fitness to go more than 10 mins in the backrow. Seems he sees the writing on the wall.

It is time for BJ to play reggies and stay there,he was more responsible than any other player for our loss tonight. He was woeful and there is no way he has the mobility or stamina to be a decent forward

I must admit, when Lucy copped the dangerous tackle, I was waiting for this idiot to come running in and punch on. Maybe the imbicile was off after Liverpool kissing the turf.

I think he would be far better at lock then second row I don’t think he would last long in there but would only be 20 minute spells I reakon

totally agree with the move/?,not for 20mins tbh

Sorry mate, but he is no longer an nrl standard player in any position. I wish Madge would stop picking him. He is never in the game.

You need to be able to tackle to play backrow. But then again he's lasted 11 years in the centres without being able to tackle.

Hes finished as an NRL player in any postion..but we have nobody else in the centres either apart from Douhi.
Talua better in the centres..but then weve gotta find a winger

BJ is shocking, we let Momo go. Talau is better or so is Mybe. BJ is diabolical

No 1 attribute of a centre is strong defence and being able to read the attack. No wonder we have problems in defence. We switch him to the left and create a defensive issue on that side. This should be his last game in the NRL.

Hoping AJ can produce what he did before the ACL injury ...he had a damn good game that night (until injured )

anyone on here who thinks we should keep BJ in any form must have no respect for the club. I've been watching this club for 13 of our 21 or so years, and he is easily one of the worst players we've had in our jersey. He is so bad that he manages to actually make us worse. He adds so little, he makes us worse. And the idea about playing him in the forwards is ludicrous, he is slower and more unfit than most forwards in the game and cannot defend.

Joey has had more than enough chances to prove he belongs. It’s time Madge bites the bullet & looks to the future not ‘hope’ that something clicks in Joey to all of a sudden produce consistent attacking & defensive games for us.

Same goes for Nofoaluma

I think BJ has had it. WT should only consider a new contract if his brother signaled he woud spit the dummy and want out. If that did happen BJ would only get a minimum value contract renewable each year in the clear knowledge he would spend the vast majority of his playing time in reserves, nowhere neat the NRL comp.

Except Nofa is contracted for another 3.5 years. I get he brings that Magpies junior element & is seen as a ‘culture’ asset but I agree. He needs to go to KOE to work on his defensive decision making & must meet KPIs there before re-introduced to firsts. If he throws his toys out with his cot, then it says a lot. But if he takes it on board & comes back better, those are the characters we want in the club.
