Joey is going to get himself sacked if he keeps misbehaving like this

Why is it misbehaving?

I think he just left without asking...that's the impression the article gives anyway

No it doesn't, it states he told the club he had to leave the bubble.

It doesn't really state he told the club either.

Sorry...the below made it sound a bit more serious than requesting to leave the bubble and being granted the leave. But still vague....in any case, I guess the discussion would be about fines and sanctions if it wasn't a legit leave request. My mistake.

By doing so, **he has broken the game’s biosecurity protocols**, which means he will be sidelined for at least 14 days if he returns to the bubble.

However, it is unclear if Leilua plans on returning this year.

The Tigers have informed the NRL of Leilua’s actions.

It does state he told the club

"News Corp has learnt Leilua told officials on Wednesday he had to leave the bubble for family reasons.

It is understood he has since returned to be with his extended family in Canberra."

Yeah, but it sounds like he just left and said oh yeah by the way I had to go...sounds like it was a last minute thing.

Anyway...relax...

I was editing my post as you were replying as it read like I was having a go at you which wasn't my intention.

Rest assured...I am totally relaxed...only thing missing is a Tanqueray and soda...

Lol mate, me too, early knock off today so just having a cold drink now.

Lucky bugger...you've inspired me to nip out a bit early myself. Have a digital cheers from me :beers:

Only a 3 hr day today, but that is the new Covid world for you. Hopefully everything is ok with BJ and he is back in the bubble as soon as possible.

Given the amount of walk outs the clubs had over the last couple years, how does this not raise red flags? Getting serious Matterson vibes.

Can you imagine if he walked and Luciano decided to join him. Good lord.

Shhhhhh, don't even let the footy gods hear that.

Technically the word since in "News Corp has learnt Leilua told officials on Wednesday he had to leave the bubble for family reasons.

It is understood he has since returned to be with his extended family in Canberra." should mean he told the club before he left, but as you say it is hard to know with reporters these days.

Not liking it to be honest.
Timing is everything. I get family comes first but as someone said to drive them home. Couldn’t they have waited for approval first? Seems impulsive and with a game we need to win and he being one of our most experienced / paid players. Does not bode well.
Doesn’t care about the season as much as us fans do.

I wonder if the Uber option was ever discussed... could have helped him stay in the bubble by giving his fam one of my discount coupons

Hopefully it’s not too serious (Family ) unless he’s driven 3 hours for his favourite butter chicken dish 😳

As others have said family comes first so I won’t bag him until more details emerge.

However that doesn’t change the fact that he has been a disastrous signing thus far and paying full freight on him next year doesn’t sound too enticing.

I’d make the drive for a good butter chicken

I wouldn’t say disastrous - was playing fine until his suspension. Started slow but was in some good form for the last 4-5 games before getting suspended. That’s Joey Leilua though, that’s when you get when you sign him. Madge would’ve known he’s a good chance of a brain explosion

Lets assume it was serious enough to leave the bubble, imagine if he stayed and it was on his mind throughout the match? That might've made him somewhat of a liability...

Can't his wife drive a car?

I'm sorry but if the reason why he left the bubble was because his wife is "struggling" with the covid restrictions in Sydney and he had to be a driver, it's not good enough.

It's not an emergency as far as I'm concerned
She could have driven herself, or had other arrangements made to get them to Canberra.

If you're commited to a team you don't do this, especially after you just returned from being a goose and getting yourself suspended.

Imo Joey has robbed us this year, we haven't got anywhere near our money's worth out of him, in fact he owes the club, and now he's off taxi driving.

If he has serious family issues to deal with, the club really doesn't have any option but to grin and bear it. Stuff like this happens and the 2 week quarantine is also something the club can't do much about. Shame too because at his best he's a very good centre. Talau back to the centres?

I would like more details before I condemn him.

It’s pretty apparent that bj doesn’t handle emotion too well so he needs to get it sorted otherwise it will affect the team

Man a lot of people and slamming this guy without knowing the details. There are plenty of reasons who might have to leave that don’t involve his brother. Playing football is his job and if there is a family issue and he has to take time off so be it. Covid restrictions have made it more difficult for players to leave, players often miss a game/training due to personal reasons now they just can’t come straight back.
