John Grant hopefuls

nah make it 7 foot 5 inches and 350 pounds - does that sound better? :master: does any one on this forum know if john grant has ever played rugby league in his life? i'm just hoping that maybe he has some experience with it. I just cant see, unless grant is a revelation - who makes room for him. I'm befuddled and still scratching my head. Someone please speculate - who is he better than in our current squad. 😛ray: people please give him time to acclimatize. What if Wests tigers only bought him because of his size and height - thats sounds scary.

Yeah AHX 7 foot 5 inches 350 pounds
Quicker than Usain Bolt ,stronger than Marc Henry
But you are 100% right about giving him time to get his brain time to get around being a NRL rugby league player
Some on here have him playing SOO and winning the Dally M as well

exactly happy - i mean how tall is marshall or lawrence - we dont talk about it too much - what does it have to do with know how, ability, technique, experience and passion. I've never seen anyone ever on this forum post somebodys height and size, speed, in relation the sole reason for buying a player. its always on past experience in the elite group. Leave john grant alone. he is a kid with a dream. We are talking about the unknown. Let the supporters dream. If john Grant is their man so be it. I still think this is all about one race that made him famous. Why wasnt Lawrence in the race? All i know for sure is that i bleed black, white and gold, I have little choice - i'll keep the faith in the recruitment team. Who is John Grant?

Lawrence would of been in the race but we were still in semi final contention and if memory serves he may not of been 100% over his broken jaw

I can't see Ryan, Brown, Moltzen or Utai scoring some of the trys he did. Brown spent a lot of time in NSW Cup and he hardly tore it up, with the similarities made between Shute Shield and NSW Cup i think its a pretty fair comparison to make between Brown and Grant. NSW Cup also doesnt have Australian representatives past and present playing at stages during the year (obviously not the entire season). It'll take a few poor games from Ryan and the forum will be calling for his head. League is a simpler game than union its not like we've signed a jockey or a soccer player, he'll be fine.

I'd seen him play a few times for Eastwood last year and thought he looked alright, big, strong, fast and no stranger to the tryline. But yes i paid closer attention to him after we had signed him.

how come you never mentioned him before if he is so big, strong and fast. What held you back? We always like discussion on these soughts of matter on this public forum.

I have seen him play loads, I am one of his bigger fans.

I could name half a dozen guys in Shute Shield outside the top squads that I think would be good in the NRL.

You obviously don't like discussions like this. Okay say i had of made a post this time last year. The exact same thing would of happened. Blokes who have never seen him play would be dismissing him as rubbish. There are plenty of blokes who i've thought are good footballers but i haven't dedicated a thread to them as i'm sure is the case with a lot of members on the forum. IMO this bloke is better than both Ryan and Brown.

Good post. What are you supposed to do start a thread on the 30ish NYC players, dozen or so QLD cup players and the 5 or 6 shute Shield players we think will be good NRL players,

yes, good point fraze. but dont get me wrong, i like these discussions, i'm just thinking, maybe logically or not - that you regard John Grant better than both ryan and brown, yet he has not played a game of rugby league in some shape or form. I've asked the people of the forum, has grant ever played rugby league, no one replied - so im thinking there must be no history of john grant ever playing rugby league - yet he is for you better than ryan and brown. i dont know fraze - listen, im not saying john grant is rubbish - im just saying go easy on the fella. Give him some time to develop. And as i said before, i'll be happy to have egg on my face, deep down i hope you are right, all that you say about him.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but i think i read somewhere that he had played schoolboy rugby league. So he would of been 16-18 and i'm not sure prior to that. I completely understand your points AHX in that it is risky bringing a bloke over from another code and it probably will take some time to adjust and if we do see him first up it will most likely be on the wing. But i think if you're a good footballer, you're a good footballer regardless of the code. He's not the first to have to do it and won't be the last. I just hope the first time he takes a kick he doesnt stop and kick it out on the full . I think this is the brilliant thing about the forum, cos if we all agreed on everything it'd be a boring place.

Well he is the chairman- elect of the new commission so he should know a thing or two about league!!!
