John Grant should replace Lote

I'm still perplexed as to why we bought him. I know he had his 15 mins of Andy Wharhol fame - is that why?

I am perplexed about most of our purchases this year.

Does it even matter? The dude has proved he is far too good for NSW cup and there is one place for a player like that to be tested.

And we are lacking hugely in the position that he is best suited for. If he's not picked it's absurd.

yes the time has come for him to replace lote

Youre exactly right!!
Why buy a 107kg speedster with a proven try scoring history in a simiiar code for next to nothing when we could have bought yet another Penrith or Parra reserve grade discard on our way to the complete team of the latter??
Or maybe theres yet another 30+winger out there looking to top up his super, though think we may have the market cornered on that one too..?
Apart from Ellis returning, the prospect of Grant being elevated to 1sts offers the only hope & excitement for a team that has so many players down on form & confidence,& looking decidedly at an early exit from this years comp
I hope Sheens sees it that way…but odds are low for the Great sage with the 42% win/loss record

Well one thing the Tigers are lacking out wide at the moment is genuine speed. Put Grant on the outside of anyone and he'll take some catching, that much is certain. Given Benji's propensity to kick so much, he would also be an excellent target for bombs and cross field bombs given his height and ability under the high ball.

The biggest question would be regarding his defensive positioning. It wasn't to flash earlier in the season, but if it has improved, well why not give him a go.

Wasn't Koribete gona get a call-up earlier this year but was injured?

Either way, it will be interesting to see what Sheens decides to do. How long is Utai out for?

Can someone who regularly watches this bloke play give us an honest report on how he is going?

And an update on Tim Simona would be appreciated too. Always had a wrap on him. Don't get to see BRET these days.

He's heading overseas next year apparently.

. He must have been 19 th man on Friday night ,as he did the pre game warm up with the team.

Grant was solid, two trys were from cross field kicks, one set up by a brilliant cut out by Dane Chisolm and the fourth by a brilliant run from Sean Meaney.

I still think he would not be ready for NRL based on some of the 1% efforts and reads but he keeps getting better. He actually seems more part of the team now and alot more settled and comfortable.

Simona? Well for mine he has regressed and the side looked far poorer when he was shifted to fullback for the second half

Jeez that a bit unfair, Lote the Superannuant and Rocket Reddy are both earth scorching match winners and they come at the bargain basement price of what? 650k a season?

A taste of first grade against Penrith will not hurt him , its a step up and they wont be push overs , but against penrith would be better than some of the other top teams , not off the bench , straight in

Last game before he was injured, 3 tries. One week back and 4 tries.

7 tries in two games (no matter how they are scored, you need to be in position to score them). Deserves a chance. His defence could not be any worse than Lote's has been recently.

Sheens has to do something to at least show an interest in reigniting some enthusiasm..you can roll out old Utai to get the same but for me a couple of changes have to be made and one of them would be the inclusion of Grant for this game,he has senior footy expieriance if it was earlier in the season maybe Koribete but his time will come.I say take a chance and go with Grant !

He picked the right night to score 4 tries.

Tedesco burst onto the scene with a 4 try haul…

So did Mullaney but it didn't do him any good.
Grant won't be used this year. He seems like a nice guy but his best chance of playing NRL might be another club. What other clubs do you like Zebraman ?

We already have two wingers guys.

Ryan and Utai. There are only two wings on a football field

Beau is ok but Utai is the slowest winger in the comp. Grant would be the fastest. No contest.

I'd say that Marika is in fact faster then John.

Without knowing for sure I would imagine Grant would be the faster of the two over 100 metres. Koroibete would be faster over 50\. Grant would probably be the fastest in the NRL over 100 but there are a few who would be faster over a short distance. That's not to say he doesn't have explosive pace. He does. It's just that some other players have massive acceleration and not much top end. Ben Barba springs to mind.

John grant beat barba by approx 15-20m in the race last year, and barba had been preparing for it grant took the race with a days notice..
If barbas acceleration was better than grants he wouldn't have been tailed up by that much
