Hey guys,

Plenty of us believe that we've needed a real halfback since Prince left. Yes, we had Lui and he was getting better and better with time but we all know how that panned out.

After missing out on Lewis and with the numbers that have been thrown around, it wasn't a bad offer, so theres some money left in the tank, plus the new TV rights deal could somewhat help. Does anyone else think we should have a massive play at Thurston for 2014? Or should we put our money into youth or continue playing Benji at half (which is the most likely)?

I believe he would be one of our greatest signings if we could snag him, but I also think he could possibly become the most expensive player in the game.

I also think Penrith are clearing the decks for a play at him, Broncos may have a good shot, Roosters, Dragons and Dogs will all have a shot (they seem to want to sign everyone off contract) but so would any team in the comp for a player of his calibre.

IMO, he's one guy who could bring out the best in Benji and control the game. The only other signings I would make is one or two no-nonsense props, in saying that I think we've got some brilliant young forwards in the 20's and they could be another Woodsy in 2 years.

Thoughts?

As good as he is, he will be 31 by that time and for me he'd be asking for too much coin for someone who's only got a few seasons left.

Aidan Sezer is one of the only (decent) halves available for next year. I would definitely go after him. At 21 years old, I can see him developing into a very strong halfback between Benji and Robbie

I have heard JT will be off to Penrith. Apparently has an agreement with Gould that will make him the highest paid player in the game once the new tv rights are done. JT wanted Panthers to sign quality players and then he would sign. They got rid of Lewis and have signed Lewis Brown and Sika Manu as well as a few others. There is something to do with a halves academy as well. Thurston will be a coach to ensure of life after football.

He would take up half the Tigers salary cap. Can't even visualise him in Tigers colours to be honest.

Someone mentioned Broncos to me and after a few enquiries around Cowboys country …..

Yes it turns out they are having a quiet nibble at him

Can't see him moving back to NSW

And with what money do you expect to buy him with? Or we could release half our team and play JT in 5 positions. Benji can cover half and 5/8 and JT can be the rest of the outside backs…

Aidan Sezer has looked great this season! He certainly has lifted the Titans this year and is a clean player in terms of skill and talent. Does what he should do on the paddock.

So we would have thurston at five eight Marshall at halfback and assuming therefore that you would release Robbie as you couldn't afford all 3 -seems a bit harsh especially as benji has shown he is one of the best halfbacks in the comp this yr leading the comp in line break and try assists . For mine we should stick with benji halfback and sironen at five eight or perhaps Moltzen at five eight

there is absolutely no way Marshall has been the best halfback this season. Statistics are nothing. Farah has performed this year and would never be released, and not before Marshall.

Although Thurston is a great player, its not only the cost of him but his off field behaviour we don't need. I know a copper in Townsville who has gone to a few of his late night drunken benders. Its all covered up and never makes the news, but it happens. We don't need another Robert Lui.

he has a great relationship with Greg Inglis, perhaps he could bring him as well…...

all we need is a second set of books

If it meant breaking the bank for 3 years with Thurston here then why not?
Halfback is the most crucial position in the game and we would have the best.
I reckon we should do everything to sign him. Everything and anything! Sell half the team to get him IMO.
Benji Robbie, Thurston - they would be so damn awesome the rest of the team may as well be juniors.

Yeah awesome - he can take the hit up, play the ball, collect the ball at dummy half and pass the ball to himself at first receiver. When the other team have the ball he can catch the bombs too.

Tigersmurf you're a fair dinkum miracle comic.

If you're ever funny it's a miracle!
