What about two teams merging
They get a total of $18.8 million per year for 3 years (current 2 teams combined cap)
They also get a 50% loading on salary cap payments to players for those 3 years
Eg: instead of $9.4 million per year an extra $4.7 million a year for 3 years as an incentive to merge
The other money 3 × $4.7million can go towards a COE
This could make two clubs who have struggled into one powerful club
It would give opportunity to sign some of the best players and make a powerhouse team
If the supporters continued to follow the merged teams it would have one of the biggest supporter bases in the competition
It would reduce the amount of sydney clubs which would suit the nrl
But it will only work if an agreement could be reached by existing clubs on
1: Identity
2: The running of the team
3 : Home games
You could still keep two leagues clubs but they would need to keep the same names
Eg: Tigers West and Tigers North (just an example)
Still the tigers or what ever name the merged teams come up with
Just a thought
If the Nrl want it to happen then they need to show the money
Any two sydney clubs can take up the offer
