Jordan Rankin - The Immortal

Someone should add the "highlights" package of JAC racing in from his wing and ball watching both of which lead to tries, or him dropping the ball with the line wide open. I do not think that he would have delivered a victory today. I agree that Rankin is not a winger, but do not think that JAC is the game winning superstar that some would have you believe.

Again we go beaten up the middle and through silly mistakes in the 1st half. Had no possession, but showed that when we hold the ball, we can score points.

Bellamy is a professional he picked Kpro despite him signing with Union. Whilst there is a sniff of a top 8 spot the best team available that we are paying for must be picked.

Rankin not the right man simple.

Who do you pick if JAC has gone to Melbourne?

He hasn't gone yet.

Melbourne didn't score on his wing. They scored a couple attacking our right hand side out wide, which as usual looked clueless.

The length of the field try that Koro scored there is no way even JAC could have covered him from the opposite wing given the start he had. Maybe the point of Rankin being there was just to avoid another defensive liability for Cronk and Smith to exploit.

I don't really care who they go with on that wing but they should probably just pick and stick rather than bouncing guys in and out of 1st grade. It's not like that wing has been our biggest problem all year - that honour definitely goes to our right hand side defence which neither Rankin nor JAC are responsible for.

Would just like to personally congratulate the immortal winger Jordan Rankin on his justified selection today out there on the left wing.

His calm head and ability to read to play were astounding.

Every single one of his 51 meters in attack including being driven backwards were breathtaking.

His 2 tackles and 2 missed tackles made up and complemented one another perfectly.

His 2 errors including one at the death which helped Melbourne set up for a field goal were quality.

Not to mention his magnificent goal kicking ability.

Never before have I seen a winger of this quality play first grade Rugby League.

(At least Nofoaluma made up for a poor first half with a good second half). This bloke is garbage. If you guys still can't see it, you're blind. A momentum halter and just utter crap.

I'm not sure why you picked on his goal kicking ability when he didnt get a kick. Maybe had he been kicking it would have changed the outcome of the game.

He had very little to do today, but came up short all the same. The missed tackle on Tonumaipea down their end, the knock on from the cross field bomb late on, taking a poor line on the first half kick to Vunivalu's wing that led to the break and so on.
He's a battler doing his best, but ultimately playing out of position.

The most idiotic play of the game came from Kev who came screaming in off his line leaving Noffa posted and was saved only by Koro knocking on.

Or maybe it was Moses charging off the line that left a hole as wide as Sydney heads. You'd think he'd have learnt his lesson after Gagai made a fool of him at Ctown.

On Rankin, you're out of your tree if you think his effort today warrants a thread like this. But after seeing the OP's meltdown in the team list thread, it was obviously a premeditated idea to create this thread if he scored less than 2 or 3 tries and kicked half a dozen goals.

If you were the least bit objective, you'd know that if any player today deserved this kind of thread it was Nofoaluma. He's gotten progressively worse as the season has gone on, and if the club plans to continue their accountability creed than he has to be the next to go.

I honestly haven't seen anything like what i've seen on this forum this yr, ever, and i've been a member for 5 yrs. Never have i seen more posters putting their personal dislikes for players and coaches ahead of the team, and are happy to see the club lose so it gives them an excuse to stick the boot in and tell everyone else ''i told you so''. It's utterly pathetic.

Sorry, I haven't read all the comments, and this may have already been said, but wasn't Rankin in the team for his goal kicking? Also, I agree that to single out Rankin for more criticism is a bit harsh. He played a satisfactory game with very few opportunities and, once again, he IS NOT a winger. I agree with others that JAC should be chosen because he is a winger, and a very fast one, who will bolster our try scoring potential. I think he wanted to stay with us but we took too long to table a decent offer and his manager advised him to take the money and run.

Certain fans were very happy when we lost when Farah was starting you would have to admit.

Its been a divisive few years.

Winning solves most things.

We have been losing for years so this place has been full of heated debate.

Moses running out of the line and guessing wrong on which player was going to receive the ball was a disgraceful piece of play. Lawrence went for an intercept as well and they scored. Kev running out of the line continues without any hint of change week after week….our defence was once again terrible in the first half, the refs hit us hard early, they score off a forward pass and a dropped ball by us. But yeah, lets focus on the half/fullback playing out of position.

Don't kno5e about Rankin, but Nofo had a blinder today - in that he played like he was blind.

Let's all just face facts that we have significant flaws in all our wing options.

We lost today without a hooker and only one real winger in the team, kind of puts you behind the 8 ball before the game even starts.

Yep. I'd love to hear the reason why. How good were the Storm wingers ? How much better a team would we be with Koro and Nofo as our wingers and Farah or Cherrington playing dummy half.

No better at all imo.

If JAC is being over looked due to his up coming departure than where do they draw the line with ET,todays paper has him declaring that he doesn't know where he will be next season.

Has he signed with anyone else?

Answer: NO

There is the line.

Nobody has mentioned Naiqama yet. I thought he was by far our worst out there today. The worst defending I have ever seen. The worst thing is that he looked like he gave up very easily when Koro ran through his line. Jeez mate, you are being paid to be a professional footballer, at least act like it.

Gasnier and Anasta were making comments today about his very poor reads in defence, yet the selectors can't see it. :bash

Of course everyone believes the Guru - Bwaithe.

There were a million poor reads and efforts in the first half. Let us single out one player though.

Rankin was selected by "The selection committee" but once again let us single out one member.

He did not want to stay with us, that is the point. If he did he would not have signed with Melbourne. He was after MONEY!!!!

Hope he enjoys it.

He'll probably enjoy it more there than here, he may learn something there.

Your a wanker

Just because someone has a different opinion to you its pretty low and lowest common denominator to resort to that.

Your better then that

Wheres your moral compass when you call people haters or apoligists because they disagree with you?
Hypocrite.

JAC > Rankin.

It's that simple for me, I don't care where he is playing in 2017, that's next year. We have to worry about trying to win games this year.

JAC is young and will have bad games and mistakes in him but his good outweighs that.

Did Anasta even attempt a tackle in his entire time with us?

I don't know if it was to do with money but if he was determined to stay with us he could have at least waited before signing elsewhere. He signed with Melbourne before we were even halfway through the year. Anybody who really badly wanted to stay with us would have stuck it out and proved themselves worth keeping.
