Jordan Rankin - The Immortal

We lost today without a hooker and only one real winger in the team, kind of puts you behind the 8 ball before the game even starts.

The coach should have picked Cherrington after ruling Farah out and knowing Dene was injured, the Rankin on the wing barely got by with the excuse of his goal kicking, without goal kicking it is another moronic selection.

This is what does my head in .
At most clubs wingers are a dime a dozen , but not at Wests Tigers :brick:

Yep. I'd love to hear the reason why. How good were the Storm wingers ? How much better a team would we be with Koro and Nofo as our wingers and Farah or Cherrington playing dummy half.

Rankin did not loose as the game, we lost the game because we threw 2 forward passes from dummy half, kicked out on the full from the kick off, threw a shocking ball for Koro to score and have the worst goal kicker in living memory, but if you want to keep bagging Rankin thats fine

Would just like to personally congratulate the immortal winger Jordan Rankin on his justified selection today out there on the left wing.

His calm head and ability to read to play were astounding.

Every single one of his 51 meters in attack including being driven backwards were breathtaking.

His 2 tackles and 2 missed tackles made up and complemented one another perfectly.

His 2 errors including one at the death which helped Melbourne set up for a field goal were quality.

Not to mention his magnificent goal kicking ability.

Never before have I seen a winger of this quality play first grade Rugby League.

(At least Nofoaluma made up for a poor first half with a good second half). This bloke is garbage. If you guys still can't see it, you're blind. A momentum halter and just utter crap.

How many NRL games have you played champ??

I was at the game today and I can tell you his selection was a waste.
Previous posters suggest he didn't get an opportunity to see much ball, this is true. But it was because he was never a chance to beat his opposite number for pace.

There were several chances close to our line were a true winger would have troubled them and had them on their heels.
Another opportunity was the shift left off the restart, but he didn't push up in support quick enough.

I don't blame him for being played out of position, the same I don't blame Dene or Taylor.

We've got a 6 & 7, it's time they picked a true hooker & "quick" winger and stuck with them.

If JAC is being over looked due to his up coming departure than where do they draw the line with ET,todays paper has him declaring that he doesn't know where he will be next season.

Can't blame the guy. Yes he was rubbish but they all were the first half.
Not Rankin's fault he's being made to play out of position. He's doing his best.

Exactly, he should not be playing wing in first grade, not his fault.

Rules are not applied equally in this club :astonished:

Yes. Well said.
I was there too. Every time the ball came to Rankin's side you could almost hear a collective intake of breath from the Tigers fans.
I went with a big group of Storm fans and they all couldn't believe JAC wasn't in the team. We could have really used him to chase down Koro's length of the field runs. They also couldn't believe we didn't name a hooker. Jeez, we know it, the opposing fans know it, what the hell is going on with team selection.
It's things like this that make me so disappointed and frustrated as a lifelong Tigers fan and agree that JT has got to go. This is fundamental stuff people.

I thought he was brought back partly for his goal kicking??

Rankin tries but he is a pretty average winger.

Nobody has mentioned Naiqama yet. I thought he was by far our worst out there today. The worst defending I have ever seen. The worst thing is that he looked like he gave up very easily when Koro ran through his line. Jeez mate, you are being paid to be a professional footballer, at least act like it.

Who knows why he was brought back. It wasn't for his attacking prowess that's for damn sure

Gasnier and Anasta were making comments today about his very poor reads in defence, yet the selectors can't see it. :bash

While i agree Rankin was poor today i disagree with the thread. Rankin simply cant be judged while playing on the wing. He's a 5/8 and Jason Taylor is ruining this guys chance of ever being a first grader.

How do u think Brooks or Moses would go on the wing? How do you think Corey Norman would go on the wing? How do u think James Maloney would go on the wing?

Its unfair to judge him when playing out of position. He's a guy who uses the ball to create space , not an athlete like JAC or Nofo.

Definetly agree. As a winger he's extremely ordinary . I still think that he's got something to suffer as a 6\. And would put some pressure on Moses, but
That's not going to happen . Hell will freeze over first

Rankin was good when he played fullback a while ago.
Defo a flop on the wing though.
We all know he's a fullback or half.
