We have all the money but no one wants to come here.

I think we should temper this summation. There were very few off contract players this off season, the majority of players prefer to stay with their current club plus the Tigers need to be selective about their signings, not just grab anyone. Ever the optimist, I think our opportunities will come. We just need to be patient.

Fair, and it's 100% frustration from my end.

But after Matterson (and letting go of Esan) we really needed a win, and so far it's been disappointing. Luciano is a good signing don't get me wrong, but we lack a game breaker and I was hoping we'd get one this off-season.

Still plenty of time to go.

My Biggest Frustration is the fact we released Matterson & Marsters without getting anything back or having replacements in place. I think if we played hardball we would of got something or held off until we had replacements but also understand why we did this.
I think we will regret the Marsters one as he was injured last year and him been fully fit will be back to his best..

We did not get nothing. We received full value of his contract plus 3-4 months of this yers salary which the club would be up for while negotiating a suitable release deal.
So on my maths that’s around +$500k.
Hardly nothing.

i think what he meant is that we released two of our starting first grade players and have been unable to use the money to strengthen our lineup. Leilua is a fine signing but he is not top line. Not meaning to be critical of the club but this offseason's recruitment (to date) has been a failure.

Teddy and Brooks are worlds apart.

JAC is the best winger in the comp and Brooks is probably bottom five halfbacks.

If Brooks had potential and we had no idea how he might play then for sure a gamble for a class halfback is worth it, but with our Brooks history and seeing how amazing JAC is, this theoretical swap is a no brainer.

I just don’t understand why we all don’t realize that we have to do something drastically different to win.
The pack is arguably weaker than last year and people are getting excited that Brooks will play better behind this pack. What the??
Why fall into the same trap as the last five years
because Brooks will invariably disappoint again and everyone will blame our pack again.

Just let’s all get a head start and admit our pack is weak right now and Brooks has a pass for another crappy season.

Your wasting your time Siro the Brooks fan boys are out to play . Lukes defence is a major improvement , but like you I just do not see him progressing further in his ability on the park . It’s always he has not got a good pack around him, the relentless comedy of the hospital passes to Rowdy bares all , smart 1/2 s wake up and rectify by either cutting him out or going to the line himself.

Cooper Cronk just won 2 premierships and, by any statistic that is available to apply to a halfback, Brooks almost always covers Cronk, sometimes extremely convincingly. In fact Brooks in 2 years was only beaten by Cronk in kick metres and line engaged 2018.

You don't need to be a fanboy to see that Brooks has the basic capacity. So what is the difference, why does Cronk win premierships and Brooks does not? It cannot simply be "playing well in clutch moments" because Brooks hasn't even had a single finals appearance to test himself by.

The difference is the rosters they have around them, very clearly. Brooks might throw hospitals to Lawrence, but I'd much rather be throwing hospitals to Boyd Corder or Angus Crichton.

Those stats really don't show what a fullback should be doing though. Doesn't state anything about putting a sensible kick into the corner on the last rather than putting up a bomb? Doesn't say anything about 7 tackles sets conceded through kicks. Doesn't say anything about organising a side.
