You would think the Storm would release him given he has kids involved / custody just awarded.

Their problem is they just released Chambers AND Scott. Two internationals in that back 5 already gone.

With the storm releasing all these players, & potentially JAC as well, I can see them signing Mitchell.

Given LM wants to play FB...and...be close to his family, going to Melb to play center would seem unlikely. Rorters would not release him to a potential GF opponent also IMO.

Yep I meant to play FB. They could move Papa to the wing & lose nothing. A Mel to Taree flight wouldn’t be much longer than Concord to Taree either.

I’m probably way off re. LM but seeing the way Storm are moving people on (Croft as well now) it seems they’re making room for a big signing.

Comes from Weidler, but sounds like Joss is already planning an Matterson:

Josh Addo-Carr was made a promise when he signed with the Storm that he liked the sound of: the club was about family first. It's why he is giving serious consideration to walking away from the final two years of his contract there.

Sources who know Addo-Carr well say he is at a point where he wants to put family before everything else. If you think it sounds like the situation that Latrell Mitchell is facing on the family front, you are right. Mitchell is expecting his second child. Addo-Carr has had a change in his personal life.

Without going into the details, Addo-Carr recently got custody of his five-year-old daughter. His partner, who is from Sydney, is pregnant. The pair have no family in Melbourne. His family is from Sydney and he is determined to bring his kids up around family.

The Storm sat down with Addo-Carr and his agent, Chris Orr, in Sydney on Friday.

"They confirmed their position around his contract and their desire for him to stay and extend,'' Orr said. "Josh spoke openly about his feelings on a number of things. He is not due back [at club training] until the middle of December."

Did they talk about Addo-Carr's family situation? "He certainly spoke about his family and feelings around that," Orr said.

The Storm went public to try and shut the story down, using quite emotive language, something we don't associate with the club.

"Where the talk is coming from, I'm not sure, but I can say hand on heart Josh is committed to Storm as much as we're committed to Josh," chief executive Dave Donaghy said.

Addo Carr is not committed to the club. He is committed to his family. He doesn't have a deal in place to move on.

While there are denials, the Tigers could be home once again. The Tigers have said they are not chasing him, because he is contracted to the Storm.

Addo-Carr clearly wants a change. Should he be given that opportunity, Sydney clubs will start looking at how they can fit him in. He is also good friends with Mitchell. It's difficult to know if any club could snare the pair.

What a load of nonsense. You've had a change of heart due to new responsibilities. It happens all the time as you grow older. It doesn't mean you can just abandon your current responsibilities (those you've gained since the past change), particularly when the people involved (Melbourne) have played a major role in you becoming the name that you are in your industry.

Can't his family move to Melbourne to accommodate what you'd assume is the main breadwinner in the family? Oh but wait, they'd have to abandon their work/commitments/responsibilities.... can't have that.

Responsibility to a professional footy club is well down the list of life priorities for mine and especially when a five year old child is involved.

He doesn’t get me buzzing like Mitchell did, idk. He’d be great to have. Quickest player in the game. Daylight second.

I agree, but getting both would be amazing.

Almost too good to be true, but as the saying goes, stranger things have happened and we do have the money for once ??

Can't see WT having enough space at this point for both next season, even if things magically aligned. With Luciano's signing, reckon the club would no longer have the space without moving an expensive player on.

Welcome to the Tigers, Melbourne. They wouldn’t be used to that kind of lack of stability lol.

The storm chose to release both Chambers and Scott. Not sure who's replacing them but it was the storm actively not re-signing Chanbers and being desperate to move Scott on for a year.
Jac would be out of the blue for them but they'd have a 800k to find replacements for them both

If we sign JAC, I’m nearly 100% confident that Latrell’s agent picks up the phone the next day and wants to get it done the next day

If that happens - too late, we wouldn't have enough dough.

Depends on how they structure the contract.

Hopefully we could move Josh Renolds on to the bulldogs to replace Foran, and McQueen to ESL. That would be great.

Wouldn't it be nice to have that $340k odd fine as cap space to put toward it, or any other decent signing. Well at least it will be available for 2021

It would certainly make a difference. Oh well, roll with the punches.

I agree with you there and I've never said that the child was a lower priority to work. It isn't. I've honestly just misread the article. My bad.

Sad that this is playing out in the media.

He just got custody of a 5 yo.

The mother, who he is separated from, is in NSW.

You can't just expect his ex to move to Melb to be near the child.

I've misread the article and I'm wrong. Sorry for my post. Sad that this is playing out in the media.

Whole thing sounds ugly with few winners. Probably not Melbourne and Im sure JAC would like to stay at melbourne to see out his Contract.

I dont want to speculate at all and family break ups are always ugly and negative for the kids, but must have been a very particular situation for JAC (the Dad) to be given sole custody in a court case, particularly when he works interstate.

Been a good off season so far

Been linked to LM and JAC ???

If ivan was in charge we would be linked to Shaun lane and ben hunt

I'd take Shaun Lane

Yeah me too. I think if Ivan was still in charge we'd more likely be chasing Alex Johnson and Matt Prior! ?

Madge was talking with Alex Johnston before the Mitchell stuff. Might talk to him again now ?

I hope not.

Why is our club teased in the link, yet not mentioned at all in the article? Typical Fox Sports click bait crap. They are the worst click baiters I've ever seen.
