Josh Aloiai #190

Jeez a lot of negativity in this thread... he’a a great boxer, does extra training outside of footy that helps him stay in shape and wants to fight in the off season. It’s got nothing to do with how he trains and plays at club level, he’s probably our most aggressive prop and his progress over the years has been really good. How about we back the bloke instead of bagging him?

I'm loving watching this guy play at the moment. He has taken his game to the next level. He's really stood up and is establishing himself as one of our leading players.

Always had the talent now has the motor. Eliminated errors from his game and a good player defensively and running the ball. The best front rower in the team.

His game is improving. Running well and seems to be focusing on his D. Needs to develop a bit more diversity in his game - offload, draw and pass or slip a ball. Once he does that he will be a top quality forward.

I have been a fan of this bloke for a couple of years, I love the way he was channeled his aggression and how paces himself for the entire game, instead of coming off the bench where he tried too hard tried to put an entire games worth of work in 15 minutes stints.
Definitely our best forward so far this year, keep it up champ.

Aloiai is now wacking blokes in attack and defense ..

The defensive part of his game has gone up a level..

He has never been better he’s our best forward easily. Not only his he dangerous in attack he’s racking up 30+ tackles a game.

Easily better than Twal? I don’t think so. Still in career best form.

You knew he was good when he played every game in his rookie season in 2016 and received no criticism. That year, I didn’t read one bad word about him on the forum. Not even constructive criticism. That’s almost unheard of, especially for a rookie, as every player cops it some point. Not him though, he’s always been universally well liked by the supporters.

missed @pawsandclaws1 posts..

The signs were always there but the consistency is the most impressive thing. If he can get a good run without injury I can see him lifting to be in that elite echelon or props in the game. His motor is great yet still has plenty of bite in all his runs. Also worth remembering that even though he's been around for some time, he's only 24. That's very young in prop years. He should be hitting his prime in about 2-3 years so if he continue the same ascent he'll be the pack leader we've sorely missed.

Twal is a workhorse and been terrific but Aloiai has had more of an impact to the team. I love them both so happy they’re both going good, even better both were pinched off eels

JA has been outstanding each game pretty much. He's a beast and on the up. Love his work ethic. There was a time when some were saying a few years back that they weren't convinced he had it in him and he needed to lift, but he always tried. Turns out, during that period he was playing with a pretty rough wrist injury. The guy's all heart and it shows. My fave player in the squad.

Aloiai primed and ready for gritty Bulldogs encounter

Wests Tigers forward Josh Aloiai says he's expecting nothing but a physical battle on Sunday night as Michael Maguire's men face off against a gritty Bulldogs outfit at Bankwest Stadium.

Far from perfect in their last-start win over the Cowboys, Aloiai said his side knows that their attitude has to be on from the opening whistle against a Bulldogs side that narrowly went down to the Cronulla Sharks last weekend.

Asked if the home side were "easy-beats" due to their ladder position, the 24-year-old was quick to dismiss suggestions of a straightforward game day.

"I think it'd be a stupid mindset to think that," Aloiai retorted.

"After watching some video and things, they really work hard for each other.

"They're one of those teams that really turn up and have each other's back. They scramble and work hard together and they're going to play a good 80 minutes against us and we're expecting a pretty good Bulldogs outfit.

"Dylan [Napa] is a physical dude and has some iron shoulders but I think every week is a physical battle in the middle of the park.

"It's something I really look forward to but the contact is fun and physicality is fun."

Having not produced back-to-back wins in the 2020 season to date, Aloiai said Sunday's game was a big opportunity for the team to back up on their words and discussions around consistency in the past fortnight or so — particularly after a disappointing second half against the Cowboys last weekend.

"That's not the standard that we're shooting for," Aloiai reflected on Round 6.

"It's not attitude — I think everyone has displayed the right attitude. It's about getting better in our game management and growing as a team.

"It's fair to see that, as a club, we don't often string wins together back-to-back.

"We really want to start doing that now.

"It's fair to say it's a pattern for us but we're working really hard to break that cycle because it's not what good teams do. We're aiming to be a top four team and to do that we need to be more consistent each week and for the full game."

I don't believe any reporter would ask if the team you are playing are easy beats..

Good troll tho..

Big game for Josh..
