Josh Reynolds Charged

I believe he is innocent till proven guilty. I also believe a man hurting a women is one of the most cowardly acts. Just disgusting.

To me it’s much worse than gambling against your own team. It’s worse than saying something offensive or damaging to others.

I hear this innocent until proven guilty sentiment a lot, and from my understanding never having had any legal training, I think it's meant to be at the root of our justice system - but it just ain't so. Allegations of DV stick to people because of the highly sensitive and emotionally charged nature of DV. These allegations may be dropped, there may be nothing to them, they may be completely falsified, but in a lot of peoples eyes Josh will have this hanging over his head a long time (maybe forever) regardless.

I have no knowledge of what happened here, I don't know anyone involved. If it's a lie, Josh needs help, because being falsely accused of this is huge. And if it's true, Josh needs help, as he needs to change or he should (imo) end up in prison as all people should who treat others like that.

Either way, the NRL will just try to protect their image, WT need to help Josh as he's our responsibility. To the lady on the other side, whatever happened, I hope you're alright and this while situation ends soon and never happens again to you/ with you.

Just hope that this clarifies a bit more after the first mention in court (18/12?). Until then I would hope most people can withhold positioning themselves for judgement.

Threads get closed for drones and flatheads, Yet this one is still up and running?

I can't work it out either

Calling @Geo a flathead isn't very nice

What...been sleeping...

This thread is fine it's public record..it can be discussed by reasonable adults...now I have to go through and delete posts which sucks...

A tip I was given..debate the post not the poster seems appropriate here..

What's with all the deleted posts? I mean I'm all for the mods ensuring a certain standard on here, but if you want to start deleting any post that isn't slightly on track or is slightly amusing then there's not going to be much on here. I've seen post with personal bagging or having a crack on spelling etc and that gets let go. Mods, can i ask what criteria you have for deleting posts? or does this depend on how picky you are each day?

Discretionary. Off topic posts are generally tolerated unless they overrun a thread. Personal insults are generally deleted, if they are still here they have been missed.

If you have concerns about posts that have been left, feel free to report them.

NRL's embarrassing Reynolds backflip

The NRL has been forced to remove Josh Reynolds from an anti-domestic violence ad campaign, following the Wests Tigers player being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm relating to an alleged domestic violence incident.

The former State of Origin star was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday, December 18, where he will vigorously defend the charge.

An apprehended violence application has also been made on behalf of the woman.

The NRL moved quickly to pull Reynolds from the campaign which was filmed about a month ago.

Reynolds was in the video with several former NRL players as part of the game's "Voice Against Violence" campaign.

In the video, Raiders great Alan Tongue lays out the details of the program which is designed "for our 16, 18 year-old footballers and delivering key rugby league skills and drills but also a social message.

"Domestic violence can be a really tough topic to talk about; we can use the great game of rugby league to empower young people to make the right choices."

Reynolds is seen in the clip embracing teenage players.

In another humiliating twist, the former Bulldogs star also took part in a march through Lakemba to help raise awareness of domestic violence in 2015. He also had a White Ribbon logo attached to his Bulldogs' Auckland Nines jersey in the same year.

The NRL is working with Wests Tigers and the Integrity Unit to determine whether Reynolds should be stood down from club duties.

"The NRL takes any allegation of violence or disrespect towards women extremely seriously," an NRL spokesperson said.

The Integrity Unit is seeking further information from NSW Police before determining any immediate action..

Earlier this year the NRL enacted a "no fault" stand down policy, allowing CEO Todd Greenberg to use his discretion to suspend players charged with criminal offences, particularly those involving women and children.

Manly Sea Eagles player Dylan Walker and Penrith's Tyrone May were both stood down for the duration of the court process under the law.

The maximum jail term for assault occasioning actual bodily harm in NSW is five years, which falls below the requirements to trigger an automatic stand down.

If you can't stick to a topic then don't post in the topic. I've pretty much had a gutful of the rubbish that's being posted on here lately.

Thanks for the reply. I've been on here for a couple of years now (much less than most) and there just seems to be a strange vibe on here atm, mainly anger and frustration. Maybe it's the end of a long year, maybe we are just frustrated WTs supporters who knows.

Yes which is why the back and forward slagging off posts are deleted, because they're not constructive and the majority of people aren't interested in reading other people sniping at each other (unless they're funny, in which case I'm at least all for it...)

This place seems a bit aggressive the last month or so.

Probably the frustration of waiting for the club to land that big fish! Or any big fish for that matter! I noticed a change towards happier posts and a collective sigh of relief when we signed Leilua, but sadly it's been short lived. This story leaking hasn't helped, such a shame. We needed bad publicity like a hole in the head.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. The NRL seem fine with wife beaters. They almost always keep their jobs or go to other clubs for more money.

Sadly, this is true and it has been the result in most cases. You get a life ban for peeing in your own mouth though!

I think our mods are doing a fine job keeping discussions civil and on track.
As far as I’m concerned regarding this matter .... yes things like this will happen in some relationships and the court is there to decide who’s at fault and what the punishment may be. Until such time no further criticism is required of Reynolds and his private situation. He already is in bad space with the follow up action by the NRL and damage to his brand, what’s left if it after so many injuries.

A combination of missing the finals again, the way that Matto walked out after Cleary and Moses did it to us and the frustration related to LM has probably got everyone on edge.

You would think that if JR had any inkling that he may have committed an offence in Sept that he would have excused himself from being part of the NRL campaign and video that was only filmed in November. Also the court appearance on Dec 18 will more than likely only hear initial submissions and be adjourned till sometime in the new year which will really throw a spanner in the works if the NRL follow the same path as the Dylan Walker case.

For pretending to actually.
As for Reynolds, if this is true, it would seem way out of character.
I know he has been in trouble getting on the grog before but that was nothing like these allegations.... and I think everyone was of the opinion he’d moved on from that and grown up.
For his sake, and the club’s, let’s hope there’s nothing much to it.

Anyone who wants to bag the Mods, have a look at the garbage on other forums and appreciate how this one is run.

mods are doing a fine job, there should be no bullying so to speak here, however, a bit of banter isn't gonna kill anyone, I find the Margot analogy to be quite funny and still to some degree on topic. my advice would be, to delete all insulting (bullying type posts, all post with swear words but a little bit of filler and banter that is somewhat relatable to a thread should stay, however, if it is way off track the remove.
