He was the forwards coach. How many times must this be said?

:deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

:bash :bash :bash :bash :bash :bash

JT seemingly doing very well so far!

Yeah who would have thought it was a forwards job to defend…. :unamused:

Then there is this,,,

Tigers legend Steve 'Blocker' Roach gives the forwards some tips at Wests Tigers training
>
He’s also decided he won’t run with a forwards coach this year

So we've gone from having two forwards coaches in Kidwell and Roach to none....

Anyhow even if Kidwell wasn't the defensive coach last year he is now....

"Dave Kidwell was here at the Tigers last year and is going to be our defensive coach.

GEO,is it normal to have a forwards defence coach as well as a backs defence coach,or does one person coach the whole team defensively ?..

I'm only asking because to learn to tackle and defend,it doesn't matter if you are a back or a forward, you have to stop the attacking player from going forward…is that correct ?....

All grade players can tackle.

The focus on defence isn't to teach the tackling technique (wrestling yes, but not the initial impact, god help us if they don't know how to tackle)…it's more about the teams structure, knowing what the guy inside and outside of you is going to do and having faith they are going to do it. Going over this millions of times then improves each players decision making in then defence line because they have confidence in the players around them.

In the past it has been obvious that players have no idea what the guy next to him is going to do (slide, or push up and in, or hold their line)...and that's suicide

That is a joke in itself.

We leaked over 600 points this year and the only person we kept was the defensive coach. He and JT must be good mates.

I am hoping for a big improvement in 2015\. or he should definitely go.

The large majority of points were leaked in the last month or two when our season fell apart. For most of the year I though we showed a definite resolve and new attitude in defence.

Correct, which suggests attitude, morale and possibly the mental side of things is whats need adressing

I'm wondering if Kidwell was the D coach of the kiwis in the four nations?
He was assistant coach, and the kiwis did ok In that comp, and their forwards were excellent.

Maybe now the little dears have got rid of Potter they might actually listen to the coaching staff…..maybe!

In a classic from a friend of a friend chat, Im led to believe that the Tigers have significantly improved their training equipment including the gym, also said they were super impressed with JT.

As we all know though every club is flying in the offseason, players never been fitter, never been stronger and all that.

Hopefully we are all saying what a great job JT is doing come July.

I think I read somewhere (maybe here) that Harry T had something to do with upgrading of the equipment?

I just read this thread from start to finish. Wow.

My inside sources tell me that Jerry and Irvine ran off together.

The sexual tension in their exchanges was palpable.

No he didn't - it was all his own work.
