JTs Presser..after Dogs game..

Anyone complaining about our roster management over the second half of the yr are looking for things to complain about, seriously. Buchanan and Milone gone. In their place guys like ET, Felise and JAC. Those changes are what has us on the cusp of the 8, but some still aren't happy?

I personally think the caps are being used as an excuse.

We were told at the start of the year that we had no cap space.

Then we managed to sign Elijah Taylor.

We've not used many players outside the top 25 often either, so i find it hard to believe that we are at the limit of the second tier cap, yet Newcastle isn't.

I disagree - for what purpose would that scenario take place?

If you don't think our right edge particularly Naiqama need a stint in reggies until they fix their defensive issues then you must be watching different games to me. Our right edge will be what makes us miss out on the 8 so don't get excited about being on the "cusp"

Well then, might as well throw in the towel right now then now you have us definitely missing the 8\. Time to start planning for 2017.

Btw Moses is on the right edge. You'd drop him would you? No wonder you have us missing the 8 😕

I don't see how you can drop players on that right edge. We can also make the 8\. The issue isn't the right edge. The issue is the games we've already lost.

We should just do our best for the rest of the year. We can make the 8.

Been a long time coming Steve, but finally we agree on something. Not saying there isn't an issue on the right edge, you'd be an idiot to think otherwise. But from losing 6 in a row, we are right there, with a decent run home. The amount of games we've won lately and how competitive we've been in the ones we've lost, to say the right edge will cost us a place in the 8 when we've already come as far as we have is ridiculous.

Exactly. The right edge is an issue. We can all see it. It's just that there isn't a magic trick to fix it. If there was I'd be giving JT hell about it.

I honestly think we are doing things basically right now. We are playing positive footy now so we aren't playing with one hand tied behind our back. The team won't be perfect but no team in the comp is. I reckon Canterbury have a great team and we are really close to matching them. I can see us beating them with the SOO players back and if we play to our potential.

All I ask is that we do our best with the team we have. I'm pissed at JT because of the way he has handled the team over the past 2 seasons but I'm not complaining now.

We have a good squad. We can score points on both sides of the park. We have one of the best players in the game. We have a real good forward pack. We have potentially a great set of halves. We have speed out wide. We are playing good footy. We won't win every game and there will be some problems but this is so much better than the dross we've dished up in the past.

Someone said the other day this feels similar to 09 and I agree. I reckon we are ready to give the 8 a massive shake. We're close enough if we're good enough. And I think this side has proven in the last 3 months that they are good enough.

The Dogs probably bombed three tries in the 1st half , the team is far better than it was but it needs changes

Our team wouldn't win a premiership under any coach , and we have more defensive issues bar the right side , its just the right side is the easiest to break down

We lack size to handle big sides , we continually need to compress our line and both the left and right sides are vulnerable , that's why both our centres rush out of the line

But as I've said a thousand times on this forum whether it was aimed at Lawrence when he was in the centres or the multitude of other centres , if you rush up you have to take someone , preferably the ball carrier and the tackle MUST stick and has to be dominant

If not you just create a massive hole to protect in the line for the next tackle or create a two on one for the current tackle

How many times have we seen it , how many times must we pull our hair out

We need a new centre (maybe two) and a second rower and a quality goal kicker

We are slowly getting closer , but we aren't there just yet

All the top sides talk about 18 points , Corey Parker and Cam Smith has brought it up numerous times on Sterlo ,that's has to be our minimum target defensively

Most weeks we get 18 points

Allowing 26 plus won't win games against teams who talk about allowing 18

Defence should still be our biggest priority

I completely agree. We are not a dud team. I don't get the doom and gloom proponents on here.

With our for and against 6 from 7 will prove a bridge too far unfortunately

Our F/A won't be much of an issue if we keep winning. That's a myth that needs to be debunked. What is it, -76 or something like that? The Dragons is minus -123 and Penrith's is -37\. And we play these teams meaning if we beat them, our diff will improve and there's will get worse.

I can't see us beating the Cows or Raiders GNR

We all said the same thing about the Dogs and look how close we got. The way we're playing we'll be in the fight. Both games are winnable.

Cows probably not but Raiders maybe. The boys should be fired up for revenge against the Raiders and Leilua and Rapana have come off the boil lately. The Raiders been winning but like us they've had some pretty ugly periods in games, like when they let the Knights pile a stack of points on them. Definitely winnable if we play well. Cows will be hard because Green will have them building towards the finals following a difficult origin period.

We leaked 32 points against the Bulldogs of which most of them were down our right hand side. And FYI I really hope I'm proven wrong and we do make the 8, but you can't keep leaking points the way we do and expect it will all be ok. Yes maybe our attack has improved since the Canberra game but we still have major defensive issues.. 221 points scored against us in 9 games since we played Canberra. I can't see us making the 8 with defence like that.

Exactly. He is desperate for us to be so bad. We're not. I admit it's a tough ask for us to make the 8 but if we are full strength and we play positive footy we can beat any team in the comp.
