Judgement of Potter

As much as I like Mick Potter, something is not right with his relationship with the players. I liked how he never offered excuses ( like Sheens used to do all the time)
. I loathe player power, players should play, and coaches should coach, always thought, even in the Teflon Sheens era.

But if you look at the Titans, they pushed the Sea Eagles today, had nothing to play for, and have lost 2-4 players out of their half/five eighth position, but they haven't given up. I always thought it was the responsibility of the coach to have the players in the right mind set. We had everything to play for over the last few weeks, but came up with pathetic performances.

Unfortunately I think Potter has to go, but we need a coach with balls, someone who will get Farah inline, Griffin, if would move to Sydney would be great. Brian Smith is great at cleaning up messes is too divisive, and our board wont have the guts to stick with him for 2 years.

I like this post but the only negative i have on this and many other Farah topics is this;

There are 17 players picked for one round, if Farah is one player who likes to do his own and run the boys club then what about the other 16 ?
Worst thing about all this is Farah is one of our hardest working players on the field game in game out..
So if Farah wants to be fully hectic let him, at least we get all out of him on the field

 @hobbo2803.you make valid points in your thread….however to be honest I like Potter as a coach,he has not had a quality team to coach since he started re..injuries to top players and all the changes he has to make just to get a team on the field ,having said that I also think he does give them a solid game plan and as much as we respect Farrah as a player ,he is the one who changes things mid game because I think he is a control freak that needs to learn to play as a team and you can't win games on your own ,which many times I think he tries to do.Give Potter a quality team with no injuries and I bet a lot of people would change their minds, especially if they stick to Potters game plan ......It's as simple as that ..WORK together and the results will come.(Potter has also had to deal with the internal crap as well as coach...a hell of a lot to expect from someone trying to get results on the field and deal with those dramas...West Tigers now and forever....

i think we should judge potter based on the first half of the season rather than the events of the past few months. Any coach missing 16 of his strongest 20 players (teddy, nofa, simona, richards, anasta, farah, lawerence, woods, thompson, ava, sue, gavet, brooks, galloway, fulton, patterson ) at different times of the season is going to struggle. Blair and Tapau by my count are the only two to play every game this season if I'm not mistaken. I think he deserves another 2 years to see what he can do. Any coach who fails to take us to the finals from 2015 onwards has failed IMO.

Exactly.
If anything, they need to reconsider the quality of the S&C support.
How good would it be to have our first grade side on the park in 2015.
The last couple of years has been like sending troops over the top out of the trenches in Galipoli. They're mowed down before they even get a footing.

There is so much Rubbish on here about Farah I want to vomit.

Where are the facts? One conversation 18 months ago when our coach WAS struggling.

The accusations are:

Leads the boys club
White ants the coach
Ignores game plans
Is a control freak
Wants to coach
Is deliberately destroying our club
Is an alien
Misses Rudd

So come on, someone give me a fact, some proof. Anything directly supporting the above.

If not then back off. He gives his all. That is all we can ever ask. No one is perfect.

Do not judge Potter on these last two horrible performances. It certainly doesn't help when you have half your team gone for the season, a bunch of young blokes who will take some time to develop (as with any group of youngsters), and arguable the most untalented, weak, slow bullshit crappy backline in the history of the National Rubgy League.

Do you remember the start of the season when we had Teddy, Patty, Noffa, Fults, Simona all firing, we reached our potential! But now, thanks to this [This word has been automatically removed]ing disgraceful media circus that's going on, our season has been ruined. I really hope Mick is judged on the teams performances before this crap started.

That being said, here is our team for next-week:

1\. Rowe
2\. Hitchcox
3\. Austin
4\. Lawrence
5\. Richards
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Sironen
12\. Thompson
13\. Blair

14\. Taupau
15\. Sue
16\. Ava
17\. Buchanan :righton:

It helps if you pretened they're just trying to be funny mccarry. The only thing they can prove is that he's a whinger and poor leader at times yet that wont stop people from making wild, stupid, unfounded accusations. Dont worry, most will be back on the bandwagon when he wins us a few games next year..

I find it frustrating, but I suppose it comes with the territory on a forum like this. Especially when the team is not doing well there will be factions calling for blood with little factual justification. Hence: Rrrrrrrrrrrowr. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrowwl, Rrrrrrraahhhrrrr.

Ignore the negative Robbie comments "mccarry" most of us here respect his continues commitment and dedication to this basket case of a club and the fact he always puts in and has a go no matter what. Love him. A true Wests Tiger through and through.

Much as I like Potter, I think he is gone. We have to look forward towards the future. Griffin could be a gamble as there is not many experienced coaches available, besides the WT is a basket case now.

Galloway in there FFS he is shit plain and simple under 10 kids hit the line harder than him, Sironen needs to go back to state cup for a year and stop reading the papers about how bloody good he is ( his dad was a legend), Rowe you must be on something the kid is not up to 1st grade standard other then them it's an average side

I think Potter has been harshly treated, and when times are tough and people are frustrated it is easy to point blame at the coaches. Especially when it is considered that he cannot get the players to play for him.

The players should be playing for the money and for the colours! I saw an interview with Kerrod Walters on the weekend where he said he would have played the game for free. Those are the players I want in my club and those are the players that should be paid the big bucks.

Irrespective, I think Potter will be gone at seasons end. There are only two coaches I think can come in and really change this club and they are Steve Folkes or Daniel Anderson. These guys will bump heads, they will get players off side, and they will put in players that do the job irrespective of their profile.

So the message to the board is….either put faith in Potter and give him time, or be prepared to appoint someone who can make a difference. Once you have done this then resign.

no matter what way you want to sugar coat it, it all comes back to the coach, hell Penrith have 1/2 a side out as well and they are killing it. have to agree with bottom 1/2 Galloway , sirro and rowe are only a- grade standard.

Potter simply can't stay on next year. His mere presence will ensure all this crap we've been through this year will continue. Does Robbie like him? Does he really have the backing of the players? or management? etc…

We need a clean slate free of all this drama and that means potter has to go. 99% sure he will. His tactics and team selections have also been highly questionable.

I'm not so sure why the players have to 'like' him. They are there to play football, and Potter is there to coach them.

I cannot imagine players 20 years ago say, im not playing so good, I don't like my coach. I demand another coach. Toughen up boys

So Balmain Boy you are clearly blaming Potter for the club's problems by saying if he stays the crap will continue. I can't disagree more.
There is no evidence whatever that Mick Potter has been behind and of the 'crap' as you put it. Indeed he has done his dead level best to just keep his eye on the football and stay out of the crap.
Potter has the full backing of Robbie Farah and the players. They have said so numerous times lately. Does he have the backing of the board? That one looks like its an each way bet But who cares? The board looks like a certifiable basket case.
We do need a clean slate, but Potter is not the problem. Look higher up the feed trough.
And finally; I like the way you attack Potter's actual job "tactics and team selections" almost as a footnote without any justification whatever. The truth is, the team was sailing pretty nicely early in the season before injuries and origin took their toll.
Take another look. Yes Wests Tigers has big problems but Potter aint it.
