His defence looks like it needs a lot of work but do you remember Chris Lawrence early in his career? He was hopeless defensively

The try v Melbourne at Leichhardt in 2009 ......we win 16-6 ...one of our best wins ever ...our current state almost brings a fan to tears ......

Where are the juniors of quality of years gone by like Lawrence? I swear our outside back stocks suck these days. Talau? Pauga? AJ Kepaoa? Are these really the next generation?

Look , you can't base a career on one game ..but the night he did his ACL ...AJ finally looked the goods

You sure..Zac Cini was looked at as the next Graham Langlands round here after 1 game.. then he played a 2nd..

I remember seeing something about him saying he has another year with the club. No idea what sort of contract but you'd have to assume NSW Cup.

2009 was an interesting year. we beat both grand finalists plus Manly and the Bulldogs but still managed to miss the 8. that period where we lost 5 in a row ultimately killed us off. if we made the finals that year anything could've happened.

I like Pauga. He has some work to do on his defence but did demonstrate spark in attack which we badly need. He has an opportunity here next year imo if he can make improvements to his defence.

Improvements?
Lol he doesn’t even possess high school level defence.

Defence can be taught. One of our best ever clubman, a centre himself, was a pretty bad defender. You may remember Chris Lawrence. I recall Sheens really giving it to him about his defence and he improved out of sight. Another Shark international was absolutely pathetic but turned it around to become one of the best defensive centres Australia produced. He also had blinding pace - Andrew Ettinghausen.

When did Rowdy become a great defensive centre?

Seems like a nice guy.

Will be depth for 2022 and probably not extended beyond that.

He improved out of sight. Ettinghausen was the greatest defensive centre I have seen. Absolutely he could cut them down. He couldn't lay a hand on an attacker first season.

Unfortunately when you look at our depth & current injuries, if you are in the top 5 centres you will be starting in round 1.
