Junior Pauga

We signed Dylan Smith.

I trained with him and Kitione. Kitione was a beast. Smith to me didn't appear to have the physical attributes to compete as a first grader.

I know that this is going to fly in the face of this season but I honestly think we are improving and improving significantly in relation to our recruitment of quality junior talent.

Pole, Matamua and hopefully Kitione as well are guys who I think have the ability to be good first graders.

The problem with our juniors is our football operations is not strong enough and not many players seem ready when they get their shot.

This is made worse by madge playing players that were not ready.

Just watched the presser. AD never stopped shaking his head and in terms of the questions being asked, it gave me the impression he was really hurting and that he did his best to avoid exploding over the drop out debacle.
He should be, because we had actually got over it and had thankfully recovered from that error until somebody raced in and tried to go himself from dummy half, 10 metres from our line, the idiot dropped the ball cold. Yes that was Captain Douehi.

Nofo was fed up playing in a very poor side.
He was so disolusand he was dropped to reserve grade.
He needs the break playing with better players around him to get his enthusiasm back.
If he comes back to us 2023 he might be able to inspire our players.
Totally agree playing outside some of these reserve graders depressing

Yeah can see why he got Jack of it

But can see the club side too we don't know what his behaviour was like, leaks seem to have stopped after he left God only knows what else he was doing.

For some perspective:

- we played a near full-strength St George side
- had 41% possession
- had 16 errors
- were missing Brooks, Hastings, Tamou, Stefano, Talau, Blore, Nofoluma, Maumalo, Twal and Garner, who would've all likely been in our top 17. Ten of our top 17....

And still should've likely won.

.....I'd be far more concerned if I was a Dragons supporter.

I think this is changing. Pole definitely looked ready. Matamuma looks likely as well. I think Kitione may be ready but he was completely misused via Noddy.

This is made worse by madge playing players that were not ready.

I don't see this as the case. I don't think Madge gave many guys a go who weren't ready. I can only really think of Seyfarth and I think Seyfarth is ready.

Do you have examples of Madge playing guys who weren't ready ?

That was a terrible terrible play from our captain and a supposed leader for this club. It was a huge mistake.

I don't think things are that bad but we are a really stupid dumb footy team. There were so many mistakes as well.

Doueihi dropping it from the play the ball and Kepaoa and Naden giving away one of the dumbest penalties of all time were just as bad to me as the Pauga error.

It was a bad mistake but he was far and away our best player. His defence, which was terrible last week, was outstanding.

Fair points.

He looked like a 6 yesterday but I think he could potentially do the job at fullback as well. That cover tackle was fantastic.

I'll add one key play to me was Musgrove running back hard and off loading to Madden who used beautiful footwork to beat the fullback and score.

It's a stupid rule anyway.

From a players perspective they have to guard the ball to make sure it doesn't bounce to the line. Which is just messy and stupid. I remember benji stuffing up from a kick off once.

The rule should be if it hits before the required line once it's an automatic penalty. This wait and watch it dribble over is just stupid.
Another dumb nrl loop hole

that mistake cost us 2 points right in front game over
So dumb

His mistake cost us 2pts but wasn’t the only one to cost us at the end.

AD easy conversion miss, the knock on in our 20mtr zone (dragons try next set) and AJ tackle at the end (high or taken over the sideline) was also just as costly.

AD however won us more points than he let in & was great for most of the game though. The other 2 weren’t.

The main problem in this club theres no accountability, I watched probably the worst player to ever pull on a tigers jumper, and guess what he's picked again the next week in the same position he'd be playing Park footy at any other club

Yes, but it stops the attacking team racing forward to touch the ball early, even knock it on, just to gain a penalty on a short drop out. The ball must be given every opportunity to travel 10 metres.

As far as I'm aware, the defence doesn't have to be set back 10m on a drop out either, meaning that they could stand in front of the kicker, charge down the drop out and gain a penalty (if the rule didn't exist).

It seems silly on the surface, but it has to exist.

I'd say you can't contest it until your over the line. Simple

Yeah and if it hits the ground before hitting 10 meter. Penalty.

Can contest over 10 meter line.

Stop the watching the ball to get to 10 meter line.
The drop out has a right to touch the ground inside the 10m line. There's no rule in the game where an in-bounds part of the field 'is lava' at any point. They have a right to grubber it along the ground if they want.

This is not a rule that needs changing in my opinion. Just don't touch it like Pauga did yesterday.
