You know i thought my school eastwood was bad at footy cause we get mercied every week before halftime untill i realised when we verse st gregs and blacktown, just about every player in the A team has a nrl contract either for penrith, tigers, parra or souths. No wonder it was 30 mins in and it was 44-0

Schoolboys is usually just a three horse race between St Greg’s, Patrician Brothers or Westfield. Sometimes you get the odd Illawarra, Hunter or Endeavour in the mix but usually it’s between those 3 schools

Should be doing everything possible to link back up with Greg’s

That’s true, these schools are specifically footy schools and sign guys just to play in their schoolboys teams a lot of the time. Westfields the last few years have been very good - beat Keebra Park a few years ago to win it

Sad thing is they have a lot of monsters that are junior superstars. Once they come up against adults they quickly get found out.

Lamar Liolavave was a future superstar

When I played junior footy, I was hopelessly too skinny, but there was this big bloke who dominated for years and years because he was so big, as well as being a handy footballer.

Come around 17 years everyone catches up and he never made it past Balmain junior reps. I always wonder if he just didn't have the total package to make it further, or whether it takes a special toll on you if you were phsyically dominant for so many years and then are not dominant any more. Must make it so hard to transition.

I grew up playing in the Weight Days. 4 stone 7 oz, 5 stone 7 oz, 6 stone 7 oz. We were weighed before the start of the games!

But I recall the insight of Cricket Legend Steve Waugh who when asked why he was so good said it basically came down to his birthdate cos he and Mark were born at the right end of the cricket season recruitment year, meaning that they were older than a lot of kids born 11 months later but who had to play in the same comp as those kids who were 11 months older. He said this put pressure on those kids who often never achieved much success to the extent that they left the sport. A bit of Darwinism in that the survival of the fittest proved to be the case. Oh and Steve was better than Mark cos he was born first :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

So it Peni is originally from WA. There's some footage of him here playing from Keebra, this is from just over a week ago, he's number 5 and bags the opening try for Keebra. Solid lad who moves ok.
