Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

- Jeziah Papa was MOTM For the City Vs Origin Under 16s and signed a new deal with the Roosters. (centre/wing), surprised Tigers let him go.
- Fletcher will definitely be making his NRL debut anytime
- Maddox Fui signed a development deal with South Sydney, and I am pretty sure someone said he is joining SS Top 30, towards the end of his new deal.
- I reckon Alex Conti as well, but not at the Bulldogs, they have too much talent e.g Woods, Joseph O'Neil, Cassius Tia and Barkat.
- Nassar has a decent chance (nice frame), he made the NSWCHS rugby league team, and so did Aaron Keppie and Paul Johnson (aaron keppie - skillfull around the ruck , and makes the right decisions, not an ideal frame), (paul johnson a big-bodied winger that the Magpies HM team needed)
-Patrick Young is getting some minutes for the Bulldogs at NSW Cup, but the Bulldogs have better Hookers, coming through e.g Zaidas, Patterson, Mitch Rogers and Reuben Moyle
- Dooner is highly rated and is a much better prospect than Willet and Will Craig. (plays in the halves, fullback, centre and wing)
- Cooper Clark won Mal Meninga (18's) - player of the year or something like that.

- Cathane Hill a regular at Roosters Jersey Flegg, but Mikey Nassar and Zac Sarfati are better prospects, maybe a NSW CUP player.
Its a pointless exercise listing all these players without looking at the players who were kept instead.

Now do a write up on all the players we have kept from the system.

Or do you just want to keep harping on the fact that football clubs lose football players?
Just for you.

1) Ali Hachi Kanib - Good Frame, made some mistakes at the back, haven't really seen much ball playing. Better suited for the wing or centre.
2) Tyson Walker - Small/Skinny Winger, not really great at bringing the ball back, made silly errors, don't see a future in the NRL
3) Glassie Glassie - Strong, but doesn't have that footy IQ. Made too many mistakes, glimpses of that the in the HM Final, losing the ball 3 times in the spam of 5 mins.
4) Heamasi Makinsi - Definitely in the NRL, powerful centre , may need to work on that accerlation.
5) Tom Goodfield - Lanky Winger, still 16, and is promising, I think he will move to fullback next year. Made the Under 16' City Rep Team.
6) Jhevon Lele - Comparable to Jarome Luai (before his peak) - overshadowed by Isdale, however was effective in his ball playing, his kicking game was meh, but can be improved in, made the under 16's city team.
7) Alex Isdale - Short Halfback, really strong, massively improved from last year, trying to force things, and choosing the wrong options. This year, massive improvement, kicking game was good, ball playing was excellent. Examples of that, can be seen in the Mapgies vs Sharks Semi Finals, kicks that were effective, pinning the wingers back into the corner. Bombs towards wingers, that was long and hold in the air, allowing kick chase to be effective and create opportunity. However, in the HM Grand Final, his kicking game was below par. His kicks weren't deep enough, started to force the ball, causing errors in their own half, repeat of last year. Hopefully, we can see greater improvement.
8) Christian Taupau-Moors - Great forwards, a good frame. Expect to see him in Sg Ball Next Year. Panthers Juniors.
9) Ashton Large - Only 16, but can see te potential in him, excellent around the ruck.
10) Leviticus TOVIA - haven't see that much of him.
11) Teancam EPATI - haven't see that much of him
12) Phoneix Godinet - Beast. Very Strong (his father runs rugby league clinics, and strength programs) - expect to see him coming up.
13) Peter Taai - Made the NSWCHS rugby league team, played in the edges I believe during the season. Tier below Alex, Makinsi, Phoneix and the Large brothers.
14) Lorima Cosgrave - Back Up Hooker, brought energy when needed, showed glimpses but Ashton Large is a better prospect.
15) Siotame Havea Jr - Made the Under 16's City Rep team. Ball playing forwards, strong, but frame isn't ideal . Will probably start as lock next year, purely due to his ball playing skill.
16) Peter French - Tall forward. Made too many errors just dropping the ball. Seen numerous times, of him dropping the ball in the opp 20.
17) Henare Reti - Havent see too much of him.
18) Stirling Faumui - Halfback turned Foward, started at the backrow at the start of the season, but has slowly seen his minutes dwindle.

Awesome work above, great read thanks for that

We don't value size and speed, and then wonder why he can't make more than 30m when trying to ruck it off our line.
We need to set the standard all junior outside backs need to be 184cm+, 90kgs+ to get promoted to senior footy. Or if they are small but have that Walsh, ponga type explosiveness and skill then that's all good.
Same with forwards, 188cm and 100kg+ unless they display outstanding characteristics elsewhere.

This is what the Storm do.

Hasn't been any word, which given there was a cubs trial day at Leichhardt next week that perhaps replaced it for a cost savings event.
Hopefully the Black Cubs get to play a match together sometime this season to help the transition to Jersey Flegg for some of them next season (like Broederlow & co in Black Cubs last year).

Hewas answering a question you cranky bastard.
Lol, this prejorative from you? Rich.

It was also 1 post removed from him stating:

'While other clubs are stacking up and poaching talents, we are doing nothing'.

Hyperbolic, alarmist and over the top.

To his credit, he has a great understanding, in detail, of many of our junior prospects and his response was wonderfully detailed. A post which I liked and appreciated the effort to write.

That's tough BB, Brian To'o is 182cm!

Funny isn’t it, panfers wax on about their junior system and how great it is. But still they pinch players from everywhere! Mostly the country but also other teams.
Any sensible and well ran club looks outside of their own nursery to be competitive. You can't just rely on your own product no matter how large and succesful it may be

Don’t agree with the Dooner being a better prospect than Willet!

But they have the best nursery in the comp, shouldn’t really need to go anywhere else with comments like that..,

He has elite explosiveness and tenacity. As i said smaller players can be considered if they have elite attributes. Even then there should only be a couple of small players whereas we currently have a quarter of next years top 30 being under 180cm which is unprecedented in today's game.

That's what every successful club does. 75% locals, 25% imports is an incredibly successful system to take.

Hey Balmain Boy,
Do you know the percentage at Penrith this year ?
There backs don’t seem that tall.
