Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

Archie Duncombe is held in high regard by the club (an 18yo already moved into JF squad).
Lachlan Broederlow a 20yo about 10 games into NSW Cup
Mitchell Taotua, Magpies SG Ball 19yo, has the physical attributes

That's about it before we start talking 16yos, although I think Solomone Saukuru should be transitioned there next season.
Solomon played back row at Westfields, and before his time at Magpies, he was a Prop at the bulldogs.

I think Godinet is potentially the best of our edge back row stocks, but it’s plain crazy we didn’t rate Zak Clarke more highly.
He has the physical attributes and speed required, sure he had some defensive issues, but much easier to fix defence than it is to find the size and speed to break tackles and score tries.
Broederlow looks a solid player, not a match winner like Clarke has the ability to be.

Besides Zakauri , and Phoneix Godinet, what other back-row prospects do we have?
None really. Godinet is young with lots of potential, but he's also quite small but could develop. Broederlow came from nowhere to become our standout prospect. The Taotua boys can barely make our flegg squad at present for some reason. They should be fast tracked.

Zak seemed like a developing version in the mould of a more skillful Reuben Cotter. But we've already filled our top 30 with players who were good 2 years ago so there's no room for him apparently. Or he just wanted to go to a professional club which is also understandable.

Our retention and recruitment needs to be better. While other clubs are stacking up and poaching talents, we are doing nothing.

Our retention rates among junior players have been less than ideal. We lost juniors like, Jeziah Papa (Roosters), Lachlan Dooner (Roosters), Maddox Fui (South Sydney), Alex Conti (Bulldogs), Mikey Nassar (Roosters), Patrick Young (NSW CUP/JF, Bulldogs), Levi Conti (Roosters), Thomas Fletcher (NSW CUP, South Sydney, backrow), Aaron Keppie (Sharks), Nathaniel Gallagher (Rugby Union), Sosefo Finau (Bulldogs, backrow), Paul Johnson (Bulldogs), Cooper Clarke (Storms), Zakuari Clarke (Panthers, backrow), Cathane Hill (Roosters), Sonny Edwards-Moeke (Sharks), and Jonas Peni (Roosters).

Letoi from Panthers - prop - shits all over Jordan Miller. Same size in body not in heart. Same league. Hope Robbie is watching.... or whoever our scout is... by the way - how did Miller go yesterday????

Which of these players do you think will be NRL players?

Which of these players do you think will be NRL players?
Sorry to interrupt but I’d say Thomas Fletcher will likely play plenty of NRL for the Rabbitohs as early as next season and Lachlan Dooner while still school age, is the big, tall, strong and fast prototype back that could progress through the grades at the Roosters very quickly.

Which of these players do you think will be NRL players?
- Jeziah Papa was MOTM For the City Vs Origin Under 16s and signed a new deal with the Roosters. (centre/wing), surprised Tigers let him go.
- Fletcher will definitely be making his NRL debut anytime
- Maddox Fui signed a development deal with South Sydney, and I am pretty sure someone said he is joining SS Top 30, towards the end of his new deal.
- I reckon Alex Conti as well, but not at the Bulldogs, they have too much talent e.g Woods, Joseph O'Neil, Cassius Tia and Barkat.
- Nassar has a decent chance (nice frame), he made the NSWCHS rugby league team, and so did Aaron Keppie and Paul Johnson (aaron keppie - skillfull around the ruck , and makes the right decisions, not an ideal frame), (paul johnson a big-bodied winger that the Magpies HM team needed)
-Patrick Young is getting some minutes for the Bulldogs at NSW Cup, but the Bulldogs have better Hookers, coming through e.g Zaidas, Patterson, Mitch Rogers and Reuben Moyle
- Dooner is highly rated and is a much better prospect than Willet and Will Craig. (plays in the halves, fullback, centre and wing)
- Cooper Clark won Mal Meninga (18's) - player of the year or something like that.

- Cathane Hill a regular at Roosters Jersey Flegg, but Mikey Nassar and Zac Sarfati are better prospects, maybe a NSW CUP player.

Now do a write up on all the players we have kept from the system.

Or do you just want to keep harping on the fact that football clubs lose football players?
