No. 35 ISAAC PERKINS (NSW): Another Riverview student and No. 8 at the recent Australian schools rugby championships. Has spent time with Waratahs Academy and stood out as a leader. Also plays rugby league and SG Ball. Showed great leadership as captain of the winning NSW I team at Australians schools championships.

I read he is also playing a year up in age group.
 
Holy Cross will take on rivals Illawarra Sports High in the first of two elimination finals as part of a four-game finals extravaganza at Campbelltown Stadium on Wednesday, August 12.

Christian Azzi is one of the most experienced halves in the Peter Mulholland Cup, having earned special dispensation to make his debut for the school three years ago as a 15-year-old.

The Balmain Tigers SG Ball Cup halfback has developed massively both on and off the field in that span, becoming one of the most influential game-breakers in the competition.

“He’s been awesome,” White said of the halfback. “His body’s filled out. He can kick long, he can kick goals. He’s pivotal to what we do.

“He’ll have to play his absolute best for us to beat Illawarra because, without trying to take the underdog tag, they have a pretty impressive forward pack.

“We’ll just have to rely on Christian kicking us down there and see how we go from there.”

Holy Cross was dealt a cruel injury blow on the eve of finals with strike centre Jarrod Kanaan ruled out with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Is Amos Roberts son in the Holy Cross side??
 
Just a mention that Leichhardt Wanderers won the U/18’s Grand Final and Comcord-Burwood Wolves won the U/17’s Grand Final in what were both combined competitions with the best teams from a number of districts including Balmain, Souths, Manly, Bulldogs, Dragons and Sharks. so a very good effort from both teams.
I watched the Concord-Burwood Wolves game on YouTube and they have some very likely prospects including the very impressive young giant centre/winger James Kerr and their classy halfback Matteo Reupena.
@balmain boy you have been asking for some freakish physical beasts to come through our juniors and Wests Tigers Pathways, you must be excited to see how James Kerr progresses.

I watched the game live. That Concord-Burwood Wolves team were huge. Bigger than the under 18s teams that followed them.

The rampaging ranga is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on. One of the few bright sparks in Balmain Matt's this year

My point is also that we shouldn't just have one of these types of players in our pathways and be satisfied. We should have at least one in every squad we have, in all ages groups. Some will kick on, others won't, that's how junior development goes. We can't put all our eggs in one basket, we need many eggs in many baskets, across the forwards backs and halves, and then have the cream rise to the top.

That's what the Panthers do. What we don't already have in our system we need to poach from elsewhere in NSW, Qld, NZ, the Pacific, England....

I agree.
One or two physical beasts with good athleticism, speed and preferably a bit of height to go with iin each pathways team we have and if we cannot fill this quota with local talent, look and recruit externally.
Surely if that is used as a blueprint we would get some success out of it and that is not discounting all the other types of players who might not be blessed with size and athleticism as there will always be a position for extremely fit, hard working players, fit and fast players, highly aggressive players who just need a growth spurt and always exceptions with some who are naturally talented rugby league players who need plenty of work on their fitness levels or work on their size and strength.

Can we all agree before the start of 2027 season that we don't push any junior players no matter how much hype they have through to the NRL side at all .....for any reason ......PLEASE
