Anyone else impressed with what they've seen of Kev at the back?
I thought he was solid for his country and has also been good for us when playing there.

Well I must say all of us watching last night were very impressed with Kev at fullback ,this would give Cleary food for thought ,the speed of his returns and safety under the high ball was eye catching . Would the club offer him a upgrade contract? Where does he fit in !

He 'wants' to play in the ESL according to reports. His brother is over there and he apparently wants the chance to live and play abroad. I would be surprised if he is with us next year.

Why not, I'm still not sure Lolohea will be a good fullback anyway. Taking a gamble on this guy, has he ever even played fullback?

Nope. He is a semi competent fill in, thats all.

Give Lolohea a go and see whether he can utilise that top gear speed he has to tear teams apart from the back.

And you are sure Kev will be a good full back????

No way do i want him here last night he was ok but what about all of his previous efforts. No where near consistent with far more terrible performances than good ones.If you keep someone of his caliber you will not improve. He is not first grade standard.

He played well there no doubt about that, also played well at FB for Fiji in the test…. But I thought MWZ was really solid on the wing last night i'd actually be sending Kev to reggies at fullback and have a bit more of a look at him there in that position.
If he was to stay thats the position id be looking at him in a back up FB, if he wants to gamble on Lolohea not being able to cement himself there why not.

Who knows, but he showed a lot of promise last night and for his country earlier in the year, so that's twice he has impressed there now, whereas I've never seen Lolohea play fullback! I just wish Cleary had gone on the hunt for a specialist fullback to replace Tedesco instead of gambling with a utility player who might go ok there. It's too important a position to experiment with, imo.

I've liked what i've seen from him back there, I'd be happy if we extended his contact and gave him the no1.
I never felt nervous at any stage with him at the back and to be honest I feel more nervous with Tedesco, I always feel like Teddy is going to break at any moment.
I think Kevie returns the ball well and he's experienced, his flaws are his defensive reads and having him at the back illuminates those. On top of that I'm happy with what I'm seeing from Lolohea at 6, he's not killing it but he looks comfortable there, I'm also still not sold on Brooks.

Interested to hear others opinions.

Im not sold on brooks either i have a funny feeling tyson gamble will find himself in 1st grade quiet a bit next year if brooks does not perform up to scratch.

One game agaiinst a team missing a group of top quality players such as as the sharks were, is no indication of anything,
If Kevvie is in the team anywhere next year, then a lot of our problems will still be there.
The ESL is more to his standard , and he should make a quid over there

I am not sold on Lolohea. Suggest we have a decent back up fullback around, but neither Kev or Heleta are it.

Played well last night and he's a depth option IF he sticks around. I figure he's as good as gone if an ESL offer comes as the Tigers won't be throwing big dollars at him. I was most impressed by the hit he put on Tagatese late in the game.
