Kids school reports

Had to listen to them this afternoon

My daughter who is in Prep had problems with saying D's , G's and C's

The teacher basically said (as she also said with our son who had some issues but is fine now ) that is usually due to the male because he has the more dominant voice

My retort was that she had never heard my wife hit the roof then :roll

don't have any kids.
i think one of the most cliche comments the teachers make is;
"easily distracted"
… like rly, what kids aren't?
much prefer to be outside or discussing super heroes, sport or pretty girls.

Thats cool lol, you should put the boy in a sport asap i hate not being in a sport when younger

Why not put them both in a sport? Sport is good for **everyone** and you're never too young or old

Depends Demps, some kids have great attention spans and if what they're learning stimulates them they will be much harder to distract than other kids. I loved Maths, Science & History at school.

Might not seem like much but teachers do their heads in getting reports in on time. My missus is a teacher and she pretty much stresses the entire term

got a lot of: "he has a lot of potential".. later a teacher explained in class that when teachers say that, it means you're lazy.

i wouldn't worry too much about the comments. there are 30 students in a class and the teacher usually craps out random stuff on it.

read it, and if there is something that surprises you, then take action. otherwise, relax

that's my opinion though, dont have kids btw.

wouldn't read the comment either if i was the parent…im in high school one teacher says i talk alot and one says i dont talk much great student (I talk alot) and one says never complete work i always do the other says i do...most teachers make up crap, off topic but some teachers just take the detention shit over board like for exapample if they are in crappy mood they will put you on detention for pretty much anythning today i got put on for throwing somthing in the bin like are you kidding me? another doesnt let you go toilet during class it was period three for chocolates sake they say you just came to class i havnt been able to go toilet for 3 hours they dont let school sickens me.

Just spent two whole weekends writing reports and I can't help thinking that the effort I put in is wasted.
Some read beteen the liners:
Very social (talks way too much)
Does well when focused (has never paid attention in class)
Is able to….....(but often doesn't)
Would benefit from (hey! Can you help him/her out at home a bit)
Easily distracted (chases flies and bits of fluff around the classroom).
Has potential to do well (but won't at this rate)
Just joking! (hmmmm)

I used to think that but after seeing the effort teachers put into reports there is no way that's true. Reports are there to help students improve and while they can be cliched they are normally not far from the mark. They serve as a pat on the back for those doing well and a kick up the bum for those that need it.

My mum dragged some of my report cards out when my boys got there's (8 yr & 6 yr old ) and I'd have to say there's a lot more effort goes into todays report cards then the ones of yesty year. I always read the comments and read them to my boys and am actively involved in their home work and parent teacher interviews to see where they need to pick up as a result my youngest who was struggling a bit with reading and spelling tests has gone from the 5-4 out of 10 in e spelling test to getting 10/10 in the last 8 weeks or so. As a side note my boys both play soccer and just recently have started karate which they love and believe it has helped in there behavior a bit

Writing them sure does suck. I don't know why people thiunk we just make stuff up?? Gawd, if we did that, we'd be sacked! Everything has to be backed up by assesments and bookwork, and anecdotal records.

Anyway, as a teacher, I hope parents read my reports and take the info I put in to them on board, especially when I write the "Would benefit from …" ones ... however, as a parent, and I was a parent 17 years before I was a teacher, I really only focus on the General Comment at the end. Of course, I check the academic comments and if there's any issue, I follow up, but basically I want to know that my kid is doing OK academically, and does his best at being a good person. Marks (like NAPLAN, for instance) don't always reflect how is achieving at school, and I trust my peers to contact me if there is anything significant that needs correcting.

Anyway, just about to start mega-stressing about reports as I finally got a new pute, but no Office!!! ARGH!!! It's coming, apparently, but OMG! I need it now!!!!! lol

Quick fact:

In 2012 %95 of Australian School kids have failed Naplan and Half yearly exams, now i am getting worried real bad about my results i only know i passed maths…..
