Killing off suburban rugby league tradition a mistake

The best stadium for watching football is Suncorp

All NRL stadiums should be based on its design

Even on the top tier it is a great stadium to watch footy

First row, bottom tier, perfect.

Watched it from a few different seats and different angles and haven't found a bad spot

I think that putting more money into grounds like Brookvale and Leichhardt is not good business.
There is a step between the suburban grounds and the giant grounds like ANZ.
Small stadiums like Penrith and Skilled stadium on the gold coast, which has excellent facilities, corporate options and is still a great atmosphere with 10k in the ground.
Parra, Campbelltown aren't far away, just need a few corporate options

How much money has the state government put into Leichhardt over the last 10yrs? I think they fixed up the Keith Barnes stand….but that was more a heritage job than anything else.

Anyway focussing money on major stadiums shouldn't mean the end of the suburban grounds. From my perspective playing some of the out of town teams there is the right call. Are most of the game day staff volunteers, if not I think there would be an opportunity to run game day with mostly diehard volunteers? Doesn't the council do the maintenance etc.? Mow the lawn.

What else is there. Scoreboard is low cost the few toilets there shouldn't cost too much to clean. Hooter sounds like it is a relic from the 50's. I would also think there would be an opportunity to ask the local chamber of commerce to kick in to running costs to maximise earning potential.

BTW Tony Abbott said he was adamant that he wanted to see Brookie thrive on Friday night. So there are some inconsistencies in thinking between state and federal governments. It may be a game of political football over who pays. Pity Barry O preferred grange to a meat pie and a tinny of beer.

My mum is 65 and said on Friday night before she dies she wants to walk down Mary St for a tigers game. My dad used to take her on dates on the hill to watch Artie Beetson (when he was an overweight centre he told her that he would be the best prop ever)...such a romantic.

The Tigers should abandon Leichhardt (it pains me to write that) as its clearly not up to scratch and will never be funded to bring it up to scratch…The Tigers should lobby the NRL/State Government to bring CSS to a high standard comfort and facilities level for fans and corporates.. Tigers should play 6+6 at ANZ and CSS.

Sounds like a good idea, however I think we may be too late. Parramatta or Penrith may well be the third stadium in Sydney. I can't see the State Government also spending on CSS. Hope I am wrong.

The Penrith game at LO recently I made a point of noticing how many people are working there on game days (Id heard about this story earlier)
From the dozen or more on the gate at mary st, then it seemed a similar number at the merch stand just inside, all the security, the food outlets, game day people on field at half time organizing all the activities…its realy surprising there'd be a couple of hundred easily...all having to be paid...it really surprised me
Just basic maintenance needs to be continued, youd think council would look after this
