**Bulldogs halfback Brett Kimmorley poised to announce his retirement from NRL**
>
BULLDOGS halfback Brett Kimmorley has called time on his illustrious 15-year NRL career.
>
The former Test halfback knocked back offers from the Canberra, Parramatta and his former club Cronulla before reaching the agonising decision.
>
Kimmorley, 33, is considered one of the game's great survivors, beginning his career with Newcastle as a teenager before playing with the Hunter Mariners, Melbourne Storm, Northern Eagles, the Sharks and most recently the Bulldogs.
>
He will continue his work in the media with Fox Sports while also taking up a coaching role with the Canterbury club for the next two seasons with an eye on one day becoming an NRL coach.
>
The champion halfback will formally announce his decision at a media conference called by the Canterbury club today.
>
Kimmorley will join teammate Luke Patten, who is bound for the UK Super League, in farewelling Bulldogs fans on Monday night in their final home game at ANZ Stadium against the Panthers.

A real shame. A very good ambassador for the game and a smart footballer on the paddock. A steady halfback which every team he played for were competitive at some point.

Good luck to Noddy and for whatever he chooses to do in retirement. He's been a great player over the years and a good role model for youngsters to follow.

I think Hodkinson has a great deal to learn from Noddy, and that's dangerous as he is already a good halfback for his age.

A real General on the field, always putting his body on the line in attack and defence. One of the last of a dying breed of Footballers, actually being a Halfback and wearing the 7…

We will see plenty from Noddy. Out of all the current players, he would be at the top of the list of players to enter the coaching ranks...

Thanks Brett, I just wish you could of worn the Black & Gold!!!

Brett Kimmorley just announced on Fox he will retire at the end of this season .
He will be part of the coaching team start of next season.

On ya Noody…

I dare say Barba will take over at fullback Blake, which is why I don't think the Bulldogs fought tooth and nail to keep Patten. Green and Roberts will probably be the odd men out with Hodkinson at 7 and Keating at 6.

….They bought keating? Why would you waste money on him. Roberts/hodkinson or roberts/barba or barba/hodkinson would be devastating

Roberts has been less than spectacular IMO. Keating and Hodkinson played through their juniors together before being snapped up by Parra and Manly respectively. Not saying I think Keating is great, but I'm guessing thats part of the reasoning behind why he was signed.

Barba would be a dangerous prospect at fullback, I'd be putting him there. He's an elusive runner of the ball, ideal support player.

Would like to see Joel Romelo get more of a go at #9 next year. Shows a lot of promise and given some game time, would easily outperform knob features.

I doubt they'd play romelo over ennis, as much as I hate him. Do you see barba playing a hayne-like role and injecting himself in the play every now and then? And is he good under the high ball?

I remember roberts had a few incredible games last year so if he could find that form I would have roberts/hodkinson in the halves with barba at the back and have keating and green in state cup.

I doubt they will play Romelo over Ennis either, but he's more dynamic and would offer more in attack than just a quick shot pass out of DH. Roberts has struggled this year but maybe the competition for the #6 jersey next year may see him play himself back into form.

Barba will have alot to offer at fullback, although I'd compare him more to Slater than Hayne. Hayne is an opportunist who thrives off broken play and confused defense and has no real set game and can't defend to save himself. Barba is a more complete footballer I believe and will be the sort of player to score off set play or ad lib.

This is what I think you'll see:

1.> Barba
6.> Keating
7.> Hodkinson
9.> Ennis

This is what I reckon it should be:

1.> Barba
6.> Roberts
7.> Hodkinson
9.> Romelo

Bogan, Ennis is going nowhere… The guy is one of the better 9's in the comp. Love him or hate him, he can play...

That's a matter of opinion Watto. I'm sure there are people out there who think John Morris can play.

That said, I know the Dogs will stick with him.

Hmmm….

Love ya work Noddy......well said Watto...

Sheens tried to lure him to the tigers a few years ago, would have been great for our club and I dare say we would have made the top eight a few times on the back of his play. Anyway sadly it did not happen. The last of the old breed no7, had all the skills could kick, pass, take the line on,organize his troops, durable and was a hell of a tackler.

Got a feeling he might make a really good coach

Sad to see him go. One of those players who copped over the top, unwarranted flack way to often. Hopefully he is remembered as a star halfback, who could match it with anyone on his day.

real champion player, sad to see him leave the NRL this year…
lets hope he can leave on a winning note on Monday night, goodluck in the future Noddy!
may i suggest you stay at the bulldogs and help with their halve problems :L
