Western Suburbs Magpies Knock-On Effect NSW Cup coach Ben Gardiner has named a strong line-up for their Round 12 clash against St George Illawarra at Lidcombe Oval.

Halfback Jock Madden and hooker Jake Simpkin have been selected for Saturday’s clash, while forward Tuki Simpkins returns to the starting side with Tom Amone being named in the first grade lineup.

The Magpies will be aiming for nine-straight wins when they run out at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday.

Good point. Hedging on a few things I think. JTJ's health may still be an issue which would put Cooper in firsts and if there was a Walter's swap to Brisbane perhaps they'd bring ZDC in. You'd think Musgrove would at least be on the bench.

Good point. Hedging on a few things I think. JTJ's health may still be an issue which would put Cooper in firsts and if there was a Walter's swap to Brisbane perhaps they'd bring ZDC in. You'd think Musgrove would at least be on the bench.

Surely Cini (he deserves another chance) or Ogden would come in on the wing before Cooper. Far too slow & with questionable defence (refer last week's highlights). Good on him for scoring those tries but let's be honest, most were very basic. He might be a centre but at the next level it's never going to happen on the wing. Kei seems to be injured to me or based on last year's limited showing he would be also considered. Fitzgibbon seems to be going along alright too and would be a better bet.

Oh I agree, I would go w Cini atm too but Cooper is on the extended bench for firsts, that's the only reason why I said that.

Fitzgibbon needs 12 months at least in reserve grade. He is a very large project. He's growing better by the week but still needs some time. Agree with you though, Cooper is certainly not a winger. Unfortunately this shows how much we're struggling for depth on the wing. Nofoaluma is the only player in our top 30 that is actually a winger. Talau and Kepaoa are not. No wonder we've been after Isaako for the past few months.

I don't understand or like why Cooper is on the bench. He's really done nothing to deserve getting called up ahead of others. If Jtj is out Talau will go to and Cooper to Centre. He's solid, decent front in defence but slow, and this hinders his attack and defence, and poor under the high ball.

There's probably a few injuries lingering around in the squad. Expect changes

I actually like Cooper he knows how to get across the line, has good hands and is reliable if not possessing a blistering pace. It might have something to do with Indigenous Round. The return of JTJ on the wing - helps to sell the Indig jerseys.
