Koro in talks with storm

I think we all knew it would near on impossible to retain all the young talent we had on the books. The fact that we have kept the vast majority, and especially the key players of Tedesco, Brooks and Moses, is a fair result - better than fair, actually. It would seem that the salary cap has bitten us now that we have Tedesco back on the books and need to make room. Koro was one that the coaching staff obviously believe is not essential - or at least more expendable than others. So be it. It's an absolute shame - I really enjoy watching the guy - it's a long time since we have seen anyone with his sheer speed. None the less, I trust that the management is only doing what is required given the financial restraints we are under. Previous contracts to players from previous management is something we have to live with. It's not ideal but it's fact. Let's move on.

I agree totally…
And then I watch a Roosters game thinking wtf?!

Potters plodders get that much stronger, great idea, lets flick a player that may actually attract a few extra bums on to seats.

Their is madness in our club that will eventually negate all the young talent we have at our disposal. It is criminal, you get a window of success once every light year and we have a management who are hell bent on giving it away.

Mayer and Potter must justify their brain dead decisions

Very sad if he goes. There is one thing on a football field that you cant substitute for and that is pure speed and Koro has it.A very inept move by our management if he leaves

I don't want this to be true. I think he deserves a first grade spot in our team now.

Put me in the "not fussed" column.

I wonder, all that money drummed up for Tedesco (even if short of the Raiders offer) how many coins are left in our coffers?

Hoeter is already re-signed, plus both starting wingers are on for next year.

I am guessing there is more to the Koro story than just defensive issues.

THE Storm are set to sign Wests Tigers Fijian flyer Marika Koroibete for next season.

The Flying Fijian is believed to have come to terms with the Storm for the next two years.

Koroibete, 21, was a sensation when he broke into the Tigers’ top side two seasons ago.

But injuries have slowed his progress and he has been unable to force his way into the Tigers’ top team this season.

The Sharks and Raiders were also keen to sign the powerhouse flanker.

There is obviously something going on rather than defensive issues with Koro… Well another good player with heaps of potential is let walk by the club. My enthusiasm for the coach has been waining of late and this instills little confidence when a player of that strength ,speed and potential is just let go.As I have said maybe there is more than meets the eye but puzzling none the less.

Undoubtedly he is an exciting player and he makes a good highlights package. But his defensive reads are bad. Eric Grothe bad. Pat Richards is almost certainly going to play wing next year so the question is do you pay reasonable money to effectively warehouse a guy in the reserves in the hope he's NRL ready in 2016\. Or do you pocket the cash and either promote a junior later or sign another winger at a cheaper rate? As much as many people don't want anyone to leave, he's not in 1st grade based on form rather than a conspiracy. We don't know the Storm offer but frankly given the amount of players we've re-signed we can't afford to pay good money for a state cup winger.

What are you talking about? His form has been magnificent as of late and his defense is improving. A phenomenal amount of Tries and Try assists and leads the NSW Cup in terms if Tries and Line Breaks. Don't think he has ever been in this type of form and yet is completely being overlooked by Potter. Oh and please as if Richards/Nofoaluma are world beaters in defense. They have been found out on numerous occasions this year as well. Yet Koro offers a whole other dimension to our attack and is continually not being picked. Form isn't the issue.

Who's next my friends You ask.
Lets see.. Who else does Potter refuses to give a go no matter how good they are playing…Brown sauce anyone ?

Well I've given my opinion. Koro gets found out in NSW Cup. Yes I do believe Nofo and Pat are better defenders. I don't subscribe to theories about why players are or are not picked. He is a great attacking weapon in a lower standard comp. Whether he can parlay this into a regular 1st grade spot is highly questionable IMO.

Im of the view that Koros defense isnt significantly inferior to Richards & Nofo, but he adds so much more in attack that its ridiculous, particularly in a team struggling to score tries.
I thought the idea of promotion was to stand out in State Cup & earn a spot in 1sts,& frankly Koro cant do any more than what hes done.
Hed be ropable seeing guys like Sirro & Rowe & Lulia waltz into 1sts without doing anything special in State Cup other than be favored by the coaching staff.
Id go too if I was him-he's been sent a clear message that he has no future at WT

Every time someone leaves some people say " this will come back to haunt us ". I have yet to see that happen. From Benji, all the players that went to Cronulla and other places, no-one has come back to haunt us. Get over it.

Koro has been going very well in reserve grade. But as anyone who has watched this team, he only started 'going good' when Moses came up from NYC. Mitchell gives his outside backs plenty of room to move and Koro can move when he wants.

Moses will do the same in first grade. He will give Lawrence,
Tedesco, etc plenty of room to do their thing. He should be in firsts next game.

Don't worry we still have Anasta and Lawrence permanently in first grade for the remainder of this season and most probably all next season.

Ridiculous decision by our club to let Koro go, imo, especially when we have very little decent depth in the three quarters. NOT HAPPY JAN! But what can ya do?
