Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

It’s amazing we are giving away a player we were willing to pay over a million year for 165 grand. No talk of a player swap, just the cash to break a contract with 18months still to run. Moses must have an absolute water tight case to take to court or we are stupid.

To actually think Galvingate is responsible for our recent form slump is madness, okay it might have had a minor influence but look at our roster and non existent depth. IMO if we don’t get a NRL standard player who plays in a position we desperately need to fill, than we have once again screwed up, just like in the Ivan Cleary debacle

Covering our losses for the year. cut the cancer..
As soon as he started whinging about favouritism and displaying hightened entitlement with "Latu and Jerome doing extras and not being invited makes me feel sad", and not being in the spine leadership group ... cant always be optimistic, sometimes just need to accept fate.

Kid wants the golden platter based on being fit and fast in bronco and long distance runnning.

Anyone who thinks Galvin will go to dogs or Parra and play reserve grade rest of year are kidding , Daddy won’t allow his son to play reserves , no chance , maybe for a week or 2 but rest of year no chance , DADDY WANTS HIM TO BE THE GUN IN THE TEAM , just like he always has , when this blows up on the Galvins point to the parents not the kid , he has been advised poorly , he could have built a great set up here with Luai and API , we have May who is one of the top 4 props going around , Pole improving , Toa improving Bulla improving , Turuva improving , Skelton improving that’s 8 players getting better and apparently 3 to come , we will be ahead of Parra this year and even further ahead next year , dogs he would need to earn his spot every week and fitness alone won’t cut it , plus he will play second fiddle to more than Luai , he has way more better and senior over him there , good luck I say , and move on before next weekend , and Richo gives us the names who you say you have locked up or was it the girls mentioned already for the NRLW team

Galvin is well within his rights to leave the club. He’s a promising youngster within a terrible system. Unfortunately he hasn’t gone about the exit in a professional way. AND as usual the tigers roll over and end up worse off with a measly transfer fee. The merry go round keeps spinning. End of story.
Sadly, this is accurate.
There is a lot of emotion flying around in here, but in the wider RL world, a lot are saying 'of course he is leaving there'. The thing I hate is the big grandiose statements that come out of this club. Cleary's bus bullshit, Pascoe and Lee trying to talk tough and now Richo's dumb crocodile roll stuff.
Since Shane has been here, we have let the following players break their contract and leave early:
  • Asu Kepaoa - Penrith.
  • Jake Simpkin - Manly.
  • John Bateman - Warrington then Nth QLD.
  • Isaiah Papali'i - Penrith
  • David Klemmer - St George.
  • Lachlan Galvin - ???
Now Im sure people will come in and say we arent missing any of these guys, they were all deadwood etc...however, thats not my point here. Our club makes it a big story due to the way they carry on in the media. Dont talk tough then cave. Shane couldnt have been more staunch in his statements about Lachlan - he is contracted here for the next 18 months and will be staying put. He has been emotional about it and very clear. Five weeks later he has sold him for $165k.
All this shit we are seeing lately is a direct result of the way our management handled the dissappointment of not landing his signature.

Galvin said alot in meetings he didn’t attend.

Remember before the season started he posted being on the doggies track blue and white insta post with the additional cryptic post he doesn’t care what people think.

When this started again it was based of an attempt from Richo to negotiate - remember he and his family ignored and didn’t respond to Richo?. He never committed to the 18mths, his camp went into a known negotiation meeting with clear intent of wanting out - his manager (not him) turned up instead to negotiate but with grievances to make it clear he wants out and now which Moses has done multiple times in the past and knew would get his client out, his camp is pushing for the release now funny enough. Think this is now the 3rd or 4th time he has chases a release.

Whilst I get some points you make don’t for a second believe this is all the clubs doing.
I dont think this is all the clubs doing.
This kid does not want to play for us. He has made his position clear the whole time. Even when interviewed last year he would say words to the affect, 'im going to enjoy playing with Luai and co for the next 2 years'. Nothing about building legacies and being a one club man. He was always going to leave. He stated his leave date would be end of season 2026.
A lot of people seem to forget that the contract negotiation was on a Thursday and it all blew up on the Monday. That came from the club. The claim that Benji and his coaching was the trigger also came from the club. The pile on from social media was instigated by the players - his peers within the club. A couple of days later the club held a press conference where they appeared upset. The club dropped him. The club tried to censor the press conference after a game. Moses sent the club a legal letter and it ended up in the media - was that the club? maybe the RLPA?. The club has done an interview on a podcast. Weve heard one official thing from Galvin vs all that from the club.
As I said I dont think its all the club's fault - Moses has been underhanded and is now using dirty tactics, however they are not the victim here and have played a huge role in this.

$165K....ppfff, seriously....we don't need money we need players..... I'm all in on Richo however this makes no sense to me - willing to wait and see I suppose....

He probably came here knowing with a weaker roster/team he could probably make it through and then move to the destination he wants. Something we would all do in our careers to get ahead.
The way they have tried to agitate for release early is poor form for anyone in their respective careers and as a professional, but the piss weak, bias NRL allow it.
Yes I too hope it works out really poorly for him in the future and hope the football Gods rain down the pain on the Galvouts for eternity.

Nailed it.

He’s always been a Wests junior (Eaglevale St Andrew’s Magpies). He grew up supporting Parra and joined their reps system. When he wasn’t getting enough game time however, he came home. Was a member of Wests winning Matt’s team ... and the rest is history ...

It’s not like he was sitting around the kitchen table as a 15 year old plotting which of the 17 clubs best served his purpose (although he’s definitely doing that now).

I don’t think he ever chose Wests, he simply came through his local system after his first choice (Parra) fell through. He got traction with the Matt’s Cup win, starred at Westfield Sports High, had a break out NRL debut season ... and now, he has massive leverage.

Good luck to him 👍

You lost me at “good luck to him”.
I could say it, but I wouldn’t mean it.

Maybe not plotting, but in the back of ya mind always hoping to make it, and at the Tigers it might be easier, and then get employed by the company/team ya want when you do make it. That’s human nature.
Being unprofessional is a choice.

Seeing a few people mad at the transfer fee, correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure another team or LG has to pay this just to begin negotiations with other teams.

Once he has signed with another team we can look at their roster and see if we can get a player for his early release.

Wow
You seem to know a lot about the family so please inform us all how many teams he has played in chasing wins ?

And you might be surprised that he isn’t the first player to leave a club that gave them their nrl debut
Wests
Dorahy
Boyd
Brown

Balmain
Tedesco
Woods
Moses

And if you want to tell Mr.Galvin something do it yourself,
Because I’m sure he wouldn’t give a sh-t what a MYD #2 thought.
umm
tedesco woods moses all played for wests tigers not Balmain ...
