Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

Wow
You seem to know a lot about the family so please inform us all how many teams he has played in chasing wins ?

And you might be surprised that he isn’t the first player to leave a club that gave them their nrl debut
Wests
Dorahy
Boyd
Brown

Balmain
Tedesco
Woods
Moses

And if you want to tell Mr.Galvin something do it yourself,
Because I’m sure he wouldn’t give a sh-t what a MYD #2 thought.
umm
tedesco woods moses all played for wests tigers not Balmain ...

Hmm, possibly wishful thinking, but wondering if us 'folding' here is because we've landed a couple of decent signings. And so Richo and the club care less about a swap now.

Happy theory.

lol …always look on the bright side of life mate …Im sure that’s it … they got so many guys coming that they couldn’t possibly fit in another guy to swap for Galvin …

When Parra canned him, he knew the Tigers were a rabble. So why did he come here when no one else wanted him?

Hope his career goes the way of Ash Taylor.
He probably came here knowing with a weaker roster/team he could probably make it through and then move to the destination he wants. Something we would all do in our careers to get ahead.
The way they have tried to agitate for release early is poor form for anyone in their respective careers and as a professional, but the piss weak, bias NRL allow it.
Yes I too hope it works out really poorly for him in the future and hope the football Gods rain down the pain on the Galvouts for eternity.
Stepping stone...foot in the NRL door....i remeember my sons team mates older brother was a trophy hunter, 3 clubs in 5 years...junior rep player, he left Holy X to join nth ryde i think.one year and his old club and mates won the comp the year he left.
Galvin will never have the.satisfaction of working hard and earning something worthwile...doesnt seem to be in his make up.
Thats on those meant to be advising him.
Im sure his agent only sees him as a meal ticket

the kid has a similar trajectory to Hastings imo … was used to winning junior leagues every year then when he stepped up to the big leagues his attitude caught up with him and he was moved around like a bad smell

The fact that there is so much contract drama at such a young age is a concern for him. 99% of players his age would just be happy to be playing first grade, yet he believes he should be in charge of running the team

Man the kid is simply not that good ! I don’t know what the fuss is about . Would anyone really give a shit about him , if Gus hadn’t had come out and laid all that praise at his feet .
To me he plays like a tall version of Jackson Hastings . Touches the ball 100 times a game, for 20% efficiency .
He’s not strong enough to enact his will on games , and clubs haven’t figured out the finess side of his game .
He’s at least 3 years away from the player everyone thinks/wants him to be.
Latu is it right now . He just needs to make a trip to the USA and find the hamstring guru who fixed lattrells .

Exactly man ! I didn’t even see this post when I typed mine . lol I feel like I’m taking crazy pills … and I know Braith clearly thinks the same way , as do a few others .
And to top it all off C he sure does have an entitlement complex . So what are we even talking about here ?
his ceiling is Scott Hill .his floor is Jackson Hastings and if he moves into the forwards , John Sutton .
That’s hardly greatest player ever territory …

Sadly, this is accurate.
There is a lot of emotion flying around in here, but in the wider RL world, a lot are saying 'of course he is leaving there'. The thing I hate is the big grandiose statements that come out of this club. Cleary's bus bullshit, Pascoe and Lee trying to talk tough and now Richo's dumb crocodile roll stuff.
Since Shane has been here, we have let the following players break their contract and leave early:
  • Asu Kepaoa - Penrith.
  • Jake Simpkin - Manly.
  • John Bateman - Warrington then Nth QLD.
  • Isaiah Papali'i - Penrith
  • David Klemmer - St George.
  • Lachlan Galvin - ???
Now Im sure people will come in and say we arent missing any of these guys, they were all deadwood etc...however, thats not my point here. Our club makes it a big story due to the way they carry on in the media. Dont talk tough then cave. Shane couldnt have been more staunch in his statements about Lachlan - he is contracted here for the next 18 months and will be staying put. He has been emotional about it and very clear. Five weeks later he has sold him for $165k.
All this shit we are seeing lately is a direct result of the way our management handled the dissappointment of not landing his signature.
I for the life of me do not understand the pedestal that Richo has been put on. Sure, he’s been successful elsewhere, but he hasn’t done anything significant since he took the reins here. Nothing has changed since Pascoe left, and if he were overseeing this Galvin fiasco, and it was playing out the same way, there would be rallies, petitions, boycotts, the lot.

That’s a bit of a sweeping appraisal.
For all we know, Galvin could play out his career at the next club he signs for 🤷‍♂️

It’ll be interesting to watch his progress (or lack there of)
One things certain, he’s going to receive a hell of a reception at Campbelltown and/or Leichhardt when he trots out grinning madly sporting his new clobber 🤣

He hasnt bought in.
If he was committed and all in we'd probably be seeing a much better version, but he is just biding his time...like that last week at work before annual leave

Here we go …. Out come the “what have you done for me lately” .
Pascoe had 2 real talents .
1. He was good at schmoozing politicians . He really was !
2. He was good at schmoozing journos .
Oh sorry 3 things . He was good at creative accounting to keep himself in a job .

I think this is wishful thinking unfortunately. Hastings and Galvin are totally different people with different backgrounds. The drama is obviously unwanted but Teddy and Moses have gone on to have great careers despite the early drama.

Moses and Tedesco had much higher credentials than what Galvin is showing when they left. Admittedly I didn’t think Moses would end up as good as he has, but both of them showed a heck of a lot of promise behind much weaker squads imo

The feeling is also totally different, it will feel like a huge weight taken off our shoulders when Galvin leaves, whereas it was basically the apocalypse when those 2 guys left. Particularly Teddy

Teddy was a superstar at tigers already with 90 games under his belt.
Moses was above average but can’t remember him being elite when he was with us.
Galvin has had some great highlights but is still mostly potential. Elite players can turn games for even poor clubs.

Not even lately. At all. What has he done at this club to warrant be put on a pedestal?

Moses is probably a fair comparison but he had speed, and was a half decent goal kicker. Can’t remember how his general field kicking play was but it’s up there with the best as it stands now

If Galvin gets to any of those two players levels I’ll be extremely surprised

Yeah Moses is the most comparable although he was also much further along both in age and experience than Galvin. I don't remember being too disappointed when he left - I do remember being very angry with the way it happened.

I just think Galvin has the tools to be very successful and I don't think the attitude, problems with teammates etc are at all comparable with Hastings. But as you say, I couldn't care less if he goes on to play 300 games - good riddance to bad rubbish.
