OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

He's an incredible talent & very important to our future success.

He needs to be a priority upgrade/extension.

Totally Agree - I'll keep saying it, He's a 'Franchise' player....
His enthusiasm is infectious - Everyone (All fans) love watching him play.
He's going to get more out of the game than we could ever get for him...

I think he's waiting to see how the team goes next year, Even if he sticks around
- We'll be lucky to get an extra 2 years out of him with an extension.
The market could be anything with a couple more teams.

My biggest problem is,
I think the halves were a small part of our problems this year - Improving them as well as we have...
There's far too many glaring deficiencies elsewhere atm for us to improve dramatically.
- Not even considering the Players we've lost (Or may lose)

I watched the Jets yesterday - The speed they played at and the shape of some plays
would have been too much for us to digest I reckon.

Watching the Storm - If that's any sort of measuring stick....
The amount we're off the pace is almost immeasurable.

Seen him do a lot of community stuff in the tigers area as well, think if we can help him set up roots and sell the future vision filled with finals footy, but one where the community he’s grown up in is a much nicer area, with him tied into the community, he could stay with us. Think every kid would dream of that making something big for not only their family but their community
he can buy a big house in eastern suburbs and be set for life with investment opportunities....
Uncle Nic will be sure to have a red hot go at him

The kid and his manager holds all the Aces.
It sounds to me like he is saying “I’ll give the Wests Tigers 2 more years but then I’ll have to cash in”.
We won’t worry the top teams next year, but maybe in 26 we can rattle some cages.
We need his manager to resist signing elsewhere in November 25. The kid will have interest everywhere. That decision can wait until mid 26.
If I was him, I would be well aware that the club is in trouble. However with the coming players - one of whom is elite - that can be turned around. If Galvin, Bula, TDS and Fainu can all grow and work with Luai and Api….it can be achieved. It will take 4-5 years though. He needs to sign a 3 year deal with us to be sure. If we fail, he’ll still be young enough to attract major attention and become a multi million dollar player in a contender setup.

The glory hound in me would want to do that here. Lifting a piece of shit club to premiership victory with my mates would be worth far more than money and like I said, if it fails there’s still plenty of time to become a legend elsewhere. Hedge your bets son, it isn’t that big of a risk…..

This worries me about Benji, do you really want training to be chill? Would training at the Storm be chill?

"Especially how chill he makes it and how fun he is. He tells me to go out there and enjoy myself and that I play this sport for fun. "
I really dislike Benji's attitude - in life it makes sense and I get it, nothing is that serious blah blah, but in footy... not so much.

His whole career was about having fun with mates. Playing footy for fun.

Just hope this doesn't impact hard work.

He's a genuine star and his stocks are rising.
The kids are going to idolise him.
He's a must keep.

But yeah, we need to drastically improve across the squad. I think we're heading in the right direction but on paper we're still not there yet.

Marginally,
We lost our best Prop and 2nd best 2nd Rower....
Areas we're already behind the 8 ball.

Hunt isn't a replacement for Stefano - In anyones language.

We haven’t held an ace in years, and even when we got lucky and 4 fell in our lap, we had a fish holding our cards.
We got one ace coming next year, and hopefully Richo plays better poker than fruit pascals and sells Gal the “win with ya mates, just like Luai did”.
Also I’d be trying to talk up some of the newer recruits like the Fainu boys as aces in the making, plus Gal himself and we’ll have all the aces. That’s the bluff part where Richo needs to excel.
It’s a tough sell bcoz in the NRL game everyone gets to see ya cards, and everyone knows how crap you’ve played them over the years. We’ve been out-played, out-bluffed, and folded holding aces so many times it’s embarrassing.
I reckon another issue is Gal grew up an eel and has already had his heart broken and understands there’s no loyalty in league.
I would love to participate in Gals contract negotiation. This like heads up for all marbles with another shark. I hope Richo turns out to be the ace up our sleeve.

All Tigers fans should be good at poker, we been bluffing ourselves for years.

I really dislike Benji's attitude - in life it makes sense and I get it, nothing is that serious blah blah, but in footy... not so much.

I've been saying it all year, he coddled them for a
while there & made excuses 4 them when they were
clearly off and deserved a spray. Benji is laid back
by nature and he would have known coaching is
hard and it's a long season so maybe there is a bit
of stress reduction/self preservation going on there,
he's spoken about his work/life balance all year.
The club doesn't need a casual coach though. What
pissed me off most in 2024 was his constant use
of the phrase "good bloke, even better person" lmao

Those types say it's just Footy, Or 'Just a game'
And they're right - It is... For the Punters.

It's Top Level, Competitive Sport....
Aren't they looking to be the 'Best'?
They're well paid, Professional Athletes.
- That goes for the coaching as well....

It's apples and oranges,
But I can never imagine the likes of Mike Tyson saying this next match is just sport / entertainment.
It's a bit more than 'Just a game' for most champions of the game....
See how much it hurts the Losers next week - It'll be more than a game to them.
Look at Cleary when he loses Origin.

Problem is,
all these kids would be Students of Benjis highlight reel....
His shitty king of the kids attitude would have already filtered through the squad.

I wonder how we play his signing. If we are on the rise next year, it would make sense to hold off as his manager won't be able to play the "struggling club" card.

However, if we don't sign him early and flounder again, we will find it hard to hold onto him.

Thing is with Luai coming here he will be partnered with currently the best and most in form halves partner in the competition.

On top of that Luai's easy going high fiving style will really take the pressure off and excitingly for him he has a chance to become a local pin up boy with a club at rock bottom on the way up.

Easier than a Roosters or Brisbane or even Bears contract me thinks.

The Luai partnership is an edge so Shane just has to be in the mix.

It will be Shane's first big test.

I see it the other way around....
He seems very definitive by continuously re-iterating
"We're here for 2 more years" Or
"I Have 2 more years left on my contract"
Mentions he wants to help turn the club around - But nothing about playing here outside his current contract.

If he's not extended by mid season next year, He's holding out to sign elsewhere for mine....
There's no way he plays out the next 2 years on the money he's on if he's looking to stay at the WT's long term.
If he was planning on sticking around - He gets an extension along with an immediate pay rise.
This. I hope he extends but all the talk behind the talk points to him signing elsewhere at the end of 2025 (for 2027). Hope we're just reading too much into semantics but it seems pretty blatant at this point in time...

Signing elsewhere for 2027
- Usually amounts to angling for an early (2026) release....

Which is why I think if he's forgoing immediate money not to extend
- It means he's just holding out to sign elsewhere as soon as he can and then get out as soon as he can.

That partnership won't mean jack or be able to do jack without some room to play....
Something our halves haven't had for a very long time.

That is true and saw that Luai was crabbing a bit on Saturday night with Penrith's back rowersnot as effective.

Shane has more work to do.

And beware second year syndrome with Galvin, it happened with Bula this year and is real. Opposition will be all over him in 25.

I think there is abit of a difference these blokes are seasond veterans a majority of our team are rookies. Rookies would struggle in a system like that specially when we loose as many games as we did.
As our team gains more experience and more pressure mounts on them things will intensify but for now I can see why benji has gone with this approach
