OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

If you are going to make him see it out then you rest him this week and give him your backing to compete for a first grade spot next round.

Need to take all the media spin out of it.
Agreed.
Then it's subjective as to whether he's good for the NRL squad and no one can say he must be playing NRL and force the tigers hand.
Name him on the extended bench every week and never play him.
Richo is a smart guy he knows how to play the game. Look at how he handled the media release.

Can you imagine being 19 having only a handful of games behind you, backed by one of the GOAT's in your position and then there inferences made like he can't coach me or being disillusioned at being asked to play second fiddle behind a 4 time premiership winner in his prime??
It beggars belief the rumours of the players revolting against this is pardon the pun but galvanizing.

When Latu is right give him every opportunity to shine, there was a cigarette paper between them in the up and coming boom junior stakes.

We simply can't have this sort of stuff derailing a season out of self center behavior, he shouldn't be sighted in 1st for us ever again we have options. Moses is a blight on our club and Galvin and his old man are being hand fed by him.

I trust Richo but worried about how inflammatory the media is becoming. Moses has played them like a fiddle.

Get a few bits of mail from time to time... anyway apparently the decision to drop Galvin wasn't Benjis but that of the senior playing group. After the SMH article came out the senior players approached Benji last night and said that Galvin has disrespected you which means he’s disrespected us and the players don’t want him in the team.
God I love our playing group!

Dude this has been coming since round 1 last year . The attitude stuff was murmured in the off season of 23/24. Let alone mid last year . Most people will just go “whatever bro” , until you come out in a newspaper saying you’re above the club , your coach is shit , peace out Mofos! I’m off to play with winners!” It’s like the bad guy in Major League 2 lol it’s litterally like. Movie villain play . It’s farcical … I can’t believe it’s happened lol

His teammates don't seem to be convinced. It is an appalling indictment on a 19-year-old that his teammates don't want him in the team and are rallying around Marshall.
I’ll wait for confirmation on that too.

Take the news articles with a grain of salt.

I’m sure the club will make comment in time.

I'm not sure about the fiddle part - it isn't Richo's first rodeo.
He wants to leave on mental grounds - Richo - we will give him as much support as he needs.
He is being victimised by playing ressies- Richo - he doesn't believe in the first grade coach. We are providing him with another coach that may better suit his needs.
He is being forced to play in a team that hates him - Richo - The players want to play with someone who supports the coach. we're playing him within a group that wants him to play with them.
He wants out - Richo - We have a contract. We do not need to release him. If he truly wants out, then we will make him sign an agreement he can't play in any form of the game for the length of the contract we have with him..

100% the only adequate outcome for the club. And has to be someone who does great stuff for our club because Lachy is going to have a big career.

I’ll just be happy to get a fit NRL level ( preferably forward ) player … they won’t be getting Lomax , Olakawatu or Burton

Im suggesting they made this decision in 23…well before the current upward trend began.
He would have left last year if not for 2 things;
1. We elevated him to first grade. This was a stupid decision that I now understand was likely a bribe.
2. Richo had a cuppa at the family home and told them all to STFU.
I agree with you 100% the decision was made ages ago, just silly imo that Richo is doing what he said he would and made the changes and the club is on the up, yet they are standing by that decision, I'd totally get it if the club was exactly the same mess it was back then. Just real silly imo.

This gives us more bargaining power that he’s on minimum wage.

The reason the club didn’t push for a trade as strongly with the players above was because they prioritised clearing cap space immediately over forcing a trade etc.

Whoever signs Galvin is going to want him asap due to his youth and the 7 position. They’d want him in the system early so they can speed up the transition.

Clubs will offer trades, however if we aren’t comfortable with what’s coming back I’m sure the club will be happy to keep him in reserve grade as our backup half.

Why should we be forced to compensate and move him on, he’s on minimum wage and as a club we benefit having him on standby as a backup until 2027.

He made his bed. He can lay in it.
Exactly.
What happens in the event that Luai is suspended and Latu is injured? We need back up options (which was Latu/bud) and unfortunately that's Galvin now, unless we get another half of similar ability, Galvin stays. Even if he doesn't think he can progress his career under Benji, he can still play reserve grade without poisoning the culture and step up when/if needed, his salary atm dictates his new role. He can idle in reserve grade and still work on his game there and then piss off at the end of next season. Galvin being our backup isn't a sign of WTs punishing him, more that we are moving with a halves pairing that need time to gel (he can't pull the mental health card on those reasons). Galvin has effectively slowed his progress by 18 months or so but he's young enough and has plenty of time to develop under a "better" coach. We certainly do not trade him for a transfer fee.
