OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I don't know why it's so hard for you to comprehend why opinions have turned.

On the back of 2 spoons he was a breath of fresh air and we were happy to take a risk on him (despite his deficiencies).. we didn't care that he was a hog and didn't play like a premiership winning player... He was on 120k a year...

Then he commenced legal preceedings against the club and weaseled out of his contract.

He is now on more than $1mill a year (with third party payments), so everyone will judge him as a million dollar player.

Pretty simple stuff

What people forgave last year as they constantly attacked those who pointed this stuff out, is not our problem anymore yet they’ve not only joined the bandwagon, they’ve confiscated control and sped it up.
The only reason to continually mention it is butthurt feelings.
The kid isn’t playing any different than he was last year….and he won’t for a little while longer yet. Canterbury have forecast he will be worth that salary one day, as we did….and he will be.
The point I’m making is that it’s becoming incredibly tiresome to see thread after thread hijacked by fans acting like spurned lovers seeking revenge on a kid many, many years their junior.
Hot tip…you will not receive it. He will succeed because he is a footballer through and through.
Save your energy and your stress levels. You aren’t saying anything that hasn’t been said by a few members on here many multiples of times when it actually mattered - which it no longer does.

He's an average first grader at the moment (which is huge for a guy who just turned 20) and barring injury, he'll be a very good player for many years.

Trying to discredit him at this point is just sour grapes. We went all in on the wrong player in Luai and will have to live with it sadly.

I hate to say this but I think Galvin might have been right, although the sleazy way he left the club was dishonest and hurt the credibility of legitimate bullying victims.

I am yet to see a player improve under Benji. They all seem to be either treading water or going backwards. Galvin could see the writing on the wall and jumped before it was too late. The players don't improve and the team always looks disorganised in both attack and defence.

If the NRL coaches were ranked, Benji would be ranked last. He came to the WT at a time when there was no one else and he did his best with no experience. For that, the WT should be grateful but ....

I don't know the answer. How about the Walker brothers?

I suppose nobody wanted to trust the 19 year old kid who was just breaking into grade, but he sure as hell is coming across as being right in terms of benjis coaching ability

Benjis only saving grace atm is his recruitment

That's not true at all. I hated him when he was here, not straight away obviously, but basically about mid last year his fake smiling and selfish play switched me. Just something about him rubbed me the wrong way. He is the new Craig Field. He gets love from the media trying his heart out in a weak team because he he comes up with some very good plays, and the shit is ignored. He is toeing the line at the dogs and underpaying his hand. You can see on occasions he is desperate to do something unpredictable but is too scared to. The dogs will get the better version of him because he has put himself up in lights so much he simply has no choice to reign himself in. I absolutely believe if Benji tried to restrict his play he would have had a major sook. The bloke is a grub and always has been
I think i was the first one that memtioned the fake smile....i always thought it was a bit of an act.
And no i cant stand players that fingerpoint and spit the dummy when a team maate makes an error...and i dont recall anyone here justifying that behaviour...im seeing it more since he left

I think it's always tricky when your best kicker is playing centre as Burton will tonight. We had that with doueihi for a little while and I think it really limited our last tackle options and felt really predictable. There's a reason why the best kickers play in the halves and it's so that it's harder to predict what they're going to do where when Burton gets it on the last the whole backline needs to be adjusted and it's much more likely he's going to kick.

I think Galvin needs a kicking game.
I think he just needs a kicking.

There were coaches out there , they took Benji on , it’s the clubs call and it now seems it was a dumb one , Our coaching is very poor , our team can’t attack or defend , the 2 most important parts of the game , Benji is also protecting himself with his assistants who are all bog average and wouldn’t take his job , Flanno , Brad Arthur. ,

I was saying this to my wife just last night, I can’t think of a player that’s improved under Benji’s coaching, and also thought the same about Galvins reason for leaving. Whilst I don’t like how he went about it, the background to what would be seen as his frustrations appear to be borne out the longer our season goes.

I look at the slick play that Parra are building and how a number of their players are improving and I feel jealous. I reckon they will be semis contender next year. Or the Dolphins ....

FG coaching is an extremely hard job so it's no surprise you need an apprenticeship under a top coach to do well, like Ciraldo and Ryles. Benji had one troubled year under Sheens, who was rusty and past it.

The club knocked back applications from Flanagan and others preferring to run with an inexperienced coach. Not sure why? The only possible explanation is perhaps to save money?
