OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

Smart to name him. Deals with the bullying talk and puts in on Galvin to pull out if he has a problem. It's a win win
As much as thisI irks me, I agree with this. We have to deal with this the most professionally as we can.

If he chooses not to play, that’s on him.

It will get to the point where he refuses and he will want us to sack him, effectively releasing him. Not sure where that would leave us. Perhaps the NRL would allow us to use his cap money and he has to play superleague or something.

It doesnt deal with the trust issue's..
Players arent robots and some will feel hes a traitor.
Would you have a beer with a bloke you know wanns to take you to the cleaners?
If the players can get around that this hurts Galvin more than it hurts them, they just have to be professional and rise above the emotion. Hopefully the individuals are all getting support behind the scenes.

difficult situation.

on one hand, we need to send a message the club won't put up with player manager scuttlebutt.

on the other, we need to win games and our defensive combos weren't up to scratch on the weekend.

feel like wherever we turn it's arguably the wrong decision, but it certainly removes any allegation of bullying or creating an unsafe workplace. easiest way to shut up all stakeholders is to win games.

How many fans have we lost? If anything I think we gained them through this saga.. e.g. buzz rothfield
Absolutely. It's the younger generations I was alluding to - the ones so young that they are not able to process the office culture but rather the game itself - not to mention young players that are watching this play out and questioning whether they want to play for us.

In hindsight,
This would have been a better week to ‘rest’ Galvin if needed.
The fan interaction if far worse at Leichhardt then at Commbank.
Had his head not be in it, we would have been best placed to make a team selection based on what’s best for the team.
Despite the applauds for the show of solidarity to the coach from the captains.
Benji would of been better off being a coach and backing his best 17.

This next move now flies in the face of hypocrisy and leads to further ridicule.

Oh to be a coach.

hes the best 6 at the club at the moment - however I just cant envision how any of the players possibly want to go to war with him. It's like being forced on a date with an ex who's trying to sue you.

on this, I get enjoyment out of envisioning a scenario where Parramatta have been moving heaven and earth to fast track his signature this year - cutting Joffa, pushing Lane out, negotiating the Dylan Brown switch - only for us to pull the rug out from under them at the last second and say “Actually, he’s staying. Eighteen months. lol Sorry.”

Let them play with no 6 next year and deal with the repercussions of having plans being thrown into disarray.

The war should be the opposition. Where did we go wrong?

I like the idea - "let them play with no 6 next year"especally as it means that Galvin misses out on an upgrade for 25 & 26 and thus, having ponced around creating this mess, Moses misses out on his cut of that pie, effectively earning nothing for being a disruptive (insert expletive here)

If the system allows players to be poached mid contract and the media fuels off it, and then feels sorry for the players that face the wrath of fans, then it's the system not the clubs that should be attacked by the media.
If Lachy doesn't want to play no doubt we will hear about it and he can sit it out.
Given that everything we do as a club needs to be in Lachie Galvins best interest, who knows what the kid/ family/ manager will want this week.

If Galvin plays do we think that Luai and Appi will be pissed off he’s back in the team and maybe other players , could Luai use his get out clause due to weak management / Richo not holding firm , Luai already said he would need to earn his way back , that is not 1 games it’s many

On the same token losing is not a good feeling.
It's not about Galvin as much as it is our team being successful on the park. Isn't that what professional constitutes? We keep losing fans lose trust in the organisation with or without Galvin. This is not about Galvin any more. It's the fans that are the bedrock. And losing sucks.
Being professional means consistently doing the right thing at the right time without conscious forethought or effort. This is more important than the scoreboard.

We don't know what's come out behind the scenes here.

He lined up for Wests after lodging a legal letter about bullying (indirectly by his manager).

If he was really bullied he would withdraw himself from playing.

I actually think this is the club calling their bluff..

Because if it had legs, his management team wouldn't let him play.
