Lachlan Galvin #277

I agree with Richardson in that he should see out his contract which is the current position. Our investment in him is modest and he can provide depth in the halves.
So your happy for our season to be derailed out of principle then.....

He is clearly performing worse and worse each week. He ain't getting any better while his still here whether in first grade or cup...

Thing is, I don’t think he is playing cup again whilst he is here. I think the served letter to the club has seen to that.

The fact plenty think a kid with buggerall experience could just play on like nothing has happened just shows the low level of thought that has gone into this.
The club are absolutelty the bad guys in this.
All Ive ever heard from this kid, ever since Ive been aware of him, is that he doesnt want to be here. It is the reason I was so critical of using him as we did last year. It was very obvious to me that him playing last year was a bribe. Instead of analysing the route cause and working together to eleviate his concerns, the club threw him to the wolves in first grade, straight out of school in a very important position on the field and told the universe he was the next coming of Christ - thus putting an enormous target on his back. Theyve now offered him massive overs that he has again rejected. You cant say he doesnt stand by his convictions.
I dont know anything about bullying as I am not there, but it stands to reason that a kid who goes from being treated like a god to being ostracised by a group of A-type personalities, who own the dressing room will have issues. The club doesnt seem to be handling him well at all. His performances have nose dived and I for one am interested in understanding what is being done about that.
Depends Tucker on how you value an opportunity. It was a risk to expect that Lachy could handle FG but plenty have sung his praises for his performances in FG- some of the apparently most knowledgeable people in the game. And he can't be going too bad considering Parra are wanting to replace Dylan Brown with him - they are not planning to put him reserves.
He would have been rookie of the year had he not been suspended. To say the club has treated him badly when his profile while playing at the club has resulted in him becoming one of the hottest properties on the market - poor kid

That is all window dressing and doesnt attend to the underlying issue.
He doesnt like this club, he doesnt want to be here - even for a $1M/year.
He doesnt trust this club can make him the great player that he aspires to be.
That is extremely damning and is something that we should have held an inquiry into.
Who are the next to say this? TDS?, Pole?, Bula? are we ready for that?

Because he is still in and around the team. Rightly or wrongly I still think a good part of the team is off him.

The only way this works out as a positive for the team is if he goes.

He stays whether in cup or elsewhere the distraction stays ...
Yes. I think they are off him. I said so with a few others weeks ago. That has to be managed.

Pole committed to the club and openly says he owes them for the faith WTs showed in him. Bula has said he is happy at the club. TDS don't know apparently Lachie's best mate and will probably have options and may think he should be in FG instead of waiting his time behind API and might think he cant learn anything from him - will have to wait and see.
He doesn't want to play for this club - we know his choice and accept that- however he is a contracted player and if anything his/ his managements actions have resulted in the team not trusting him given the accusations being levelled at them by a manager who some clubs refuse to deal with for good reason.
The enquiry should be into how a manager can justify accusing a club of bullying 20 year old player that they have just offered a 5million 5 year deal to?
If he was made to wrestle the whole team one after the other for being late or something like that well then there maybe grounds. Agree to disagree on this one Tucker. Have to accept his decision but can't cop the whole treated poorly angle.

Benjis smirk says a lot. Benji is still battling with Isaac and won’t loose, way too much pride.

My expectation is that Galvin will get dropped and asked to sit out from the first grade squad, conceding that this is best for his unhappiness but he still has a contract. Best for the squad and best for Galvin mental health. Galvin will play at Lidcombe for a few weeks and then start to crack the shits and go awol/mia. The club will then counter the legal letter with a breach of contract. At some point his future club will step in and trade a player.

We move on.

This goes for anyone...

If your player is performing worse and worse each week, they need a little time in reserve grade. Galvin botched a key moment vs souths and was one person responsible for the Storm walkover.

Drop him.

Iam not sure Souths would be keen to keep Bud at full freight. At present they are getting a goodish without being a world beater for a very discounted price as we are paying a fair chunk of his salary. If uncle Wayne wanted to extend the deal Iam sure we would expect him to up their contribution by a fair bit
Maybe they will swap us Dodd

I really dont think he believes he is too good for us.
I reckon he is well aware of his flaws and inconsistencies and is frustrated that they arent being ironed out through adequate development. He has always struck me as a simple sort of kid who just loves to play footy...and become a great player.

Put yourself in his shoes for a moment. For the past 2 years, he has had everyone at the club telling him how good he is, he has been Mr Popularity as he has been classed as one of our guns who is constantly talked up by coaches and his peers publicly. He has been given free reign to play the game as he sees it, making it fun more than a chore or job. The guy takes the field bouncing like a little kid, all smiles and full of confidence. New players join the club and they start talking him up...and some of them are elite! The team is playing better than the last few years and all is positive...until it is no longer so.

The guy went from being talked up as a future Test player and a franchise winning leader to being despised in one afternoon. Fans on social media, who were so over the top with their sickly sweet sychophancy last year now want him hung from the scoreboard at Leichhardt. The club's management are angry and releasing statements and holding press conferences, your peers are taking the piss out of you publicly, the media painting you as the devil, describing you and your family in ways that arent true. Training is awkward and no one is giving you the time they were a week ago. You train, you go home. You play, you go home. I doubt the invites for socialising outside of work are on offer any more.
You are ostracised from the group you spend the most time with. If this was a normal job, youd submit your 4 weeks notice, use up your sick leave and just dissapear. Youd cop the backstabbing for a little while and then youd never see these people again. This situation is very different. His leave notice was 18 months.

It seems obvious to me that this kid is desperately upset and thats why he is playing so poorly. As I said earlier, he isnt a rocket scientist...he loves the game and it is fun to him. It no longer is that way. Now Im sure many on here will say "serves him right", "he brought it all on himself", "I hope this is really tearing him up on the inside"...etc. However, the facts are, he is contracted here for the next 43 playing weeks as well as one more preseason. He is a young 19 year old as well and that must seem like a life sentence to him. There is no good end to this saga. I think we will release him early with nothing in return. The kid is crashing and burning. Every loss is being blamed on him, every poor performance is killing his wild enthusiasm. This is fast becoming a mental health issue. When people feel they have no way out...well we know how some respond. It is a terrible situation for all, and a situation all have had a hand in creating.
It's first grade football. if he is not performing, drop him.

Maybe the architects behind his decisions should apologise for putting him in that situation

It's good that he is still Flegg eligible then, isn't it?
It will get worse no matter what variation of the Tigers team he plays for.
Just man up and let him go for the good of the fans, club and the team.
We are better off making a statement on keeping commited players not holding uncommitted players to ransom.

Maybe his manager and his old man shouldve prepared him for what was in store for him.
That said i dont think its as bad for him in the general NRL public compared to here which is a small sample.
No one at the clubs blaming him but to paint the club as the villian in all this while not mentioning his manager is just wrong.
To basically say you dont wanna stay here and then take legal action against the club aint going to win you mamy friends...in any facet of life
