Latest Coaching Rumour

Not many on this forum seem to like rookie coaches. I wonder what the fans of the Storm, St. George, Cowboys, Easts, Parra, Warriors and Souths think?

Fair point. You have to go for the best coach possible, regardless of experience. However, I would prefer someone who has been an NRL coach before, if possible. It's similar to Gould's comments about not wanting a rookie to take over Penrith, fearing the place was such a schmozzle they'd be chewed up and spat out in 2 years.

Many of these clubs had huge undisclosed financial backing which does tend to help a coach in his aspirations i.e. buying top players.

Happy, you know my view on getting an NRL team up here. It will be just a lip service / PR stunt from Smith. Much like their Integrity Unit nothing will happen.

Yeah I know , I know

Just thought you could put him straight and maybe get the Tigers another million for the salary cap

"We have ways to make you talk ,Mr Smith "

Maybe get a 1 Tigers game at Rocky and Gladstone a year

The way the Broncos are playing against the storm makes me think GRIFFIN IS A GOOD COACH !http://www.weststigersforum.com/posting.php?sid=4baed5411818c9dcaeb9bdfa45a48c49#

If he has told Hodges to play dummy half, 5/8, centre and to let the ball bounce at fullback we don't want him anywhere near us !

Don't be surprised if Jason Taylor get's the nod..

Don't know if you are guessing, but I would gladly take Taylor,he has had success at NRL level before, and been an assistant long enough to do everything in his power to succeed if given a go,I like that idea.

As do I, he certainly has the confidence/ego to handle our players. Great experience at the chooks and may be able to bring a couple over if the roosters ever get held to the salary cap.

We need to make a decision one way or the other ASAP

We are disadvantaging ourselves in the player market not knowing who the coach will be in 2015

I'd like to see a decision by Sunday week personally

I watch Bellamy, Robinson, Maguire, Hassler, Toovey etc and see their passion and intensity - then I watch Potter and I don't see much of anything! I have no idea whether he is a good coach or a bad coach, but to my mind enthusiasm and desire are important ingredients and Potter seems to lack them.
I think that if he goes, then Kidwell and Payten (as much as I liked Toddy as a player) need to go to. There were too many rumours of backstabbing going on for my liking - and anyway I understood that Kidwell was the Defence coach? Don't think that went so well really!

Lots of people are saying they want Griffin as a coach and want a coach with a bit of fire in the belly

Griffin's pretty laid back

Think back to his interview after his sacking

Potter and Griffin are similar in my opinion

Why sack Potter and replace him with someone the same

Potter knows the players , Griffin doesn't

Jason Taylor with Potter as his assistant.. Potter deserves a role with the club… But not Head Coach...

If they are sacking potter, I hope his assistants and CEO go with him.. we now have a new board who will be setting a new club mission, vision and statement of values that need to be injected and instilled through to each person working for this organisation from captain through to ball boy.

This is why the club imo has not been a powerhouse and gone backwards after 05 because each side of the board had their own opinion, ceo had his own and so did the coaches and players. As of now everyone needs to obide the same values and work together for this vision and keeping all coaching staff and our CEO wont help us.

I think potter coulddo a job as coach, but a fresh start through the whole organisation is needed

As a coach you can be laid back and still achieve motivation and results. That is the difference between the two. Also the players know Potter which could be a real disadvantage in keeping Potter.

What results Griffin has missed the finals 2 of his 4 years with the Brisbane Broncos with all the resources a one team town provide who get to play every Friday night week in week out…

Oh well Mr 50% mediocrity..

What was Griffin suppose to say when he got the sack for the GOD of Rugby league and the emperor of Brisbane …I was going to say King but there already is one King.
I think he is the pick of the bunch and no affiliation even with the State at least Brisbane has structure in D & A..
