Wests Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer is expected to table a recommendation that coach Mick Potter's contract not be renewed, at a meeting of the club's new board on Wednesday night.
Potter will address the board, comprising three independent directors appointed by the NRL last Friday and two representatives of Wests Magpies, but there appears little chance of him escaping the sack, despite a season plagued by injuries and internal turmoil.
New Tigers chairwoman Marina Go said the board would be guided by a recommendation from Mayer but it is unclear if a decision will be made at the board meeting.

The directors met on Sunday night but the coaching issue was not discussed as their first task was resolving constitutional matters after taking over from the previous 10-person board comprising five representatives each from Wests and Balmain.
It is understood that the board is yet to receive Mayer's recommendation and Go would not rule out the possibility of Potter surviving.
However, after commissioning a review of the club's football operations by long-serving former NRL coach Brian Smith, Mayer is expected to advise the board that a new coach should be appointed for next season.
Assistant coaches David Kidwell and Todd Payten have each been linked to the job but both are also off contract.
Other names linked to the job include Matt Parish, Jason Taylor and Anthony Griffin.
"Very clearly we need to make a decision soon and at this point I can't tell you which way it is going to go because we are absolutely open to both possibilities," Go told Sky Sports Radio.
"What we need to do is take individual opinions out of decision making and we need to move to a situation where decisions are based on evidence and I am assuming, because I have been hearing that certainly the management team have gathered evidence around the coaching decision and I am looking forward to hearing that, as is the entire board.
"It won't be one person's decision. It is … a recommendation that will come to us, we will interrogate that recommendation and then a decision will be made and will be made with respect and fairness."

And as for Taylor being only a goal kicker, what a load of crap,he very nearly took the bears to a couple of grand finals,he took parra from nowhere to the 2001 minor premiership, and almost won the grand final.
Taylor was always a very tactical player, not very fast but quick between the ears,he played 276 first grade games for god sake,he was way more than just a kicker.
