@Newtown he waits to see what happens in relation to the South Sydney situation.

What do you mean what happens? The Roosters won't release him to Souths . Stop being scared of this club succeeding.

Hows that being scared of the club succeeding? I can't even do the mental math on how you got to that. Do you get enjoyment from these passive aggressive digs at people? you get we all support the same team right?

Can you link me to the article that clearly states with quotes that the roosters will not release LM to Souths? I cant seem to find it. I can find ones where Souths say they're not interested but we all know how that goes. Even if! Roosters management lost their mind and said they wont release him to souths. What are they going to do for 2020? the talk of playing him for Norths is rubbish (see judas materson) and they would be paying a substantial chunk of the cap for that. Plus, could you imagine the bad press they'd cop? no way that happens.

Its a reality that a club like Souths would be of interest to a player with LM's cultural background. what is unknown is if he would be interested in being the next GI or Souths want him.

I got to that by certain posters finding every excuse in the book about why this is going to backfire, based on very little, other than ''its taking too long''. Too long meaning 3 weeks.

And there was an article on the Roosters not wanting to release him to Souths. There were no quotes from the Roosters, but if you think about it, it makes sense. Why release him to a club that has the potential to make them serious premiership contenders. Releasing him to us would give us a boost, but it wouldn't make us a premiership threat.

Anyway, you say I'm speculating about the Roosters without quotes, but you're speculating about Souths interest without any quotes. Glass houses.

Everyone seemed to think it was 99% a done deal - which would suggest sources close to the deal had indicated Mitchell had expressed a direct interest to join us and that he was satisfied with the deal he was negotiating. If he had expressed he was looking at his options, of which we were one, i don't think the club would be as confident as they are.
We've only been in talks for 2 weeks, and the player is on a holiday and not due back for training for another few weeks in any case. That being said I do think we need to place a rough deadline for him. If we miss out we need to shift our focus to other targets before we miss out on them. We can't wait until Christmas to make other signings. While he's still getting paid at the moment he could be getting paid double if he signs with us.

After analysing a mountain of media speculation , forum input and player manager strategies I have come to the conclusion that I am in agreeance with Sergeant Schultz.

Any club could be a title contender, that makes no sense at all. Who had the Raiders penned in for a close battle in the GF at the start of the year??? so no.

My guess is the story was a fabrication based on some historical rivalry and a lot of poetic licence from the writer. People just swallowed it and created this whole story line.

As for joining Souths, what we do know is LM is an ambassador for a few aboriginal health organizations, huge supporter of bush footy and I'm sure a bunch more we don't know about.

Its not a leap to picturing him wanting to be with a club like Souths with their ties to the aboriginal community, grab an iconic No.1 position.

You stated as fact, roosters will not release him to Souths based on absolutely nothing and then had a little dig to the poster for not knowing or believing the fact you stated, again, based on nothing. Pet hate of mine is how modern media is consumed, regurgitated as fact and people create sides from it.

Anyways, rant over, as you were.

Until Souths come out and announce their interest, you're speculating, like you say I am. And you're also assuming they have the cash for him, based on....who knows

Guys it’s obvious.
The roosters are working feverishly away at the moment to transfer Latrells $300,000 third party agreement to another player so that at the time of his release his full pay is listed on the cap at ‘full pay’ for $750,000. haven’t you all seen this been done before. Cough, Mitchell Pearce, Cooper Cronk!

Yeah, I remember them talking down Cronks contract fee when there was speculation about how they were affording to fit him under the cap - then we he retires they suddenly have freed up money from the million dollar player!!!

Surely not, we all know that NRL HQ, TPA rules and Salary cap guidelines clearly state that TPA's are between players and third party without club involvement (Politis and board) and Roosters above all have only minimal TPA's listed for their players, so cant possibly be true. Everything is legit there in Roosters sombrero land.

Edit- I;m sure Mitchell can bring any TPA's with him that are current whilst he is/was playing at Easts. Politis should have no problems with that.

i just wanted to add that Ben Simmons hit his first 3 pointer! WOW! Congrats Simmo! Latrell might earn 1 million a season but Simmo is earning 35 million USD a year ! haha

"The Roosters are prepared to let Latrell Mitchell walk away from the club in 2020 - as long as he doesn't join arch-rivals South Sydney"

@TillLindemann

Did you read the article or just the headline?

actually, if we take that article as an example:

**"Souths have publicly denied an interest in the player but the Herald has been told they are monitoring the situation with interest"**

two interests cancel themselves out right?

@GNR4LIFE

I'm am speculating, not stating as fact and especially not jumping on someone for not believing my speculation.

You see the difference right? (honest question).

And I acknowledged I was speculating when I said there were no direct quotes. It’s an educated guess. Can we move on?

@tigerbalm The point isn't whether Souths are interested or not, it's that the Roosters won't release him to Souths.

So their interest would be irrelevant.

@rex2ce I agree. It is sounding more and more like he is looking around at any other club and might have to sign with us if he can't get a gig elsewhere. We have offered him an excellent contract, given him his favourite position and the chairman is openly declaring his wishes for Lattrell to come to the Tigers. Time to give him a deadline. We can't do anything about former players badmouthing the club, but we shouldn't have to act like a club so desperate we will take him regardless. We want him if he truly buys in and is prepared to work hard - otherwise we will have another Moses or Matterson on our hands.

@Krammy sorry but how do you know what's going on behind the scenes? These kinds of things take a long time, especially when it's such a huge move for him and the club.

This place has become very paranoid.

again...read the article man.

Please link where a Roosters official/ stake holder has said that, eluded to that, mentioned Souths and LM in the same sentence. The writer didn't even list a "inside source". Just wrote it and we see it as fact. If you can find that Ill be happy cause my gut feel was always Souths being a great fit for him.
