Some people on this forum really are desperate and gullible. How could the Cowboys possibly pull off signing both Holmes and Latrell on $1m contracts when they already have Taumalolo and Morgan on that much. $4m on 4 players? That leaves around $200,000 as an average salary for their remaining 26 players. Also, how could the Mitchell camp not be impressed with the Tigers offer when his player manager has said that they will be meeting with the Tigers in the following week? It really doesn't add up at all and it's media innuendo. The fact that people believe Big Sports Brekky reporting that the Cowboys have signed both Latrell and Holmes while the Tigers miss out is hilarious considering they were the same ones who reported that the Tigers had officially signed Mitchell 2 weeks ago. They're plain guessing

Yah ok, lets say reports the Tigers are meeting his mismanagement for discussions... then how are the people with 'inside info' are saying we have him 100% so sure?

Unless those discussions are to sign and parade.

@Nelson Nelson my point is to be patient mate. If you push people and put deadlines on contract talks you shoot yourself in the foot

@SeanT point is to be patient mate!! You are talking about a marquee player, you can't put deadlines on it

You can if you become aware Latrell and his manager is just using us to get a better deal elsewhere. Signing any player in March is ludicrous.

Us and possibly Souths are the only teams who can offer the fullback spot. That is why we are a greag chance of getting him. If this is a poker game then we hold just as good a hand as Latrell does.

@ElleryHanley

Im saying fullback is a big difference to centre. Yes he did play for Australia but judging on his performances then he was already on holidays.

I think Maguire will make the right decision but honestly i m just ovwr the speculation. Im looking forward to signing LL honestly at the moment.

Whatever happens there have been significant steps in the right direction the past twelve months that have actually led us to this thread.

Maguire has been a fantastic acquisition. We've added Hartigan who has an eye for talent and a means to actually secure it. We've gotten younger and more talented. We've retained key players on reasonably priced deals. Our new chairman speaks. And when he does he speaks of the club with pride yet sense. All of this leads to Mitchell not laughing in our faces when we table an offer.

If we don't get Mitchell and that ends the signing spree I think we're not going to be any more successful than last year. Marshall is not going to play better than that.

Anyhow, you get the sense that the next decade will feature some very good years for our team.

@TigersBusDriver it’s Dean Ritchie who reports for them mate ! The same guy who said , Lattrell needs to suck up racial abuse , and is rarely if ever right . He’s a click bait gutter journo . And from what I understand not well like either , which is a big reason his mail is rubbish

@SeanT we definitely hold a better hand than the cowboys . Personally I think Morgan is overrated , and taumalolo can’t do it by himself . I get they have Mclean , but he was supposed to be the next big thing , and donuts so far from the ex- storm system player .
I’m thinking it’s all shenanigans from the cowboys and his manger.
I don’t care what anyone says , the north of Australia is a great place to visit for a few weeks , but the heat is unbearable after a while , only locals who grew up there and old people looking for warmer climates , tend to stay long term .

@teddy23 Mate no one will be happier than me if and when he signs and am happy to eat humble pie if I’m wrong. But three finals in 20years tells me a fair bit about the club but that hasn’t stopped me from being a member for those 20years

The board, revenue and facilities , were a HUGE reason for the lack of success. Also , in 2006 there was a huge paradigm shift in regards to successful strategies ie. the wrestle being introduced . IMO this was another huge reason , we went backwards. It took 5 years for the team to change the personnel to fit the new successful systems . This isn’t excuses , smart teams exploited the loophole , and , found a way to game the system.

If Latrell goes to the Cowboys id put an offer to Scott Drinkwater straight away. Alot of ipside and would only cost 400k. Then go after Lomax and a forward like Jai Arrow.

I'd be going hard for Fifita. Throw whatever it takes to get him. Jai is a great workhorse, but David has that x factor

Not a hope in hell. Fifita now owes Broncos big time for the Bali episode.

Hey guys I’m a long time observer of this forum and first time poster and want to know why someones always looking for the negatives in this situation. You have a direct quote from someone In latrells management team saying they are due to meet with us and discuss the offer. Fair enough the cowboys could release some players but there is no way they could offer a) more money than us and b) the fullback position latrell craves. A lot of the stuff on here just looks like gossip to keep the thread going, can’t it wait till there’s actually real development in the story
