@Westigerth

For whats its worth the Storms only notanle signing for years was Michael crocker. They got the so called 'leftovers' and developed them. I like our recrujtment ptocess at the moment where ws actually seem to plan long term instead of a stop gap solution.

Latrell would be great but i think we will improve in the next two years regardless.

So for those that keep saying we are following a process and these things take time:

Cowboys certainly got the job done with Holmes quickly and efficiently. Well done them.

Holmes to the Cows had been rumoured since around Origin time..

Origin time? It was rumoured when he was still at the Sharks. It was even suggested the NFL attempt was a ruse to get out of his contract, to eventually get to the Cows.

It was rumoured he had signed a deal with the Cowboys before he went to the NFL!

Isn’t that what I said?

Sometimes when someone replies to you they are agreeing with you and supporting your post! Maybe you have a little complex and expect everyone to disagree with you?

I would have thought the fact I said something very similar to you would have made it obvious! I guess you are not used to people agreeing with you.

Don't think I've ever seen a 6pm Sunday night official announcement... Different

Yeah, didn’t see that coming. It makes this week interesting now.

It took them months didn't it.

@rex2ce
No, that is true you didn't. Another forum poster did and I thought it was generally relevant in my response. My apologies if you read that as being directed particularly at you.

Yeah, I'm not sure who thinks he's a hero. But from what I've heard and read he's a pretty decent bloke off field.
I think he's a 22y/o footballer with several advisors of various qualities. He is negotiating potentially a very big employment contract and I imagine he wants to get it right.
I don't think it is fair or reasonable for anonymous forum members to disrespect him and call him a clown just because they are impatient with a process that they don't even understand.
I also don't think he needs to rush into signing with WT immediately after he meets with our management. I'd rather he, and Wests Tigers, consider their options carefully and come up with a mutually agreeable result.
When is the last time you negotiated a multimillion dollar employment contract for yourself?
The last time I did was never.

I had a very interesting conversation with my son when Brooks was negotiating his last contract. My son, who went to same school as Brooks, said, “Dad, if I was Brooks, would you be recommending I sign a 4 year deal with the Tigers or would you want me to get a good deal at a club where I’d be successful?” I sat there and stared at him for a long time, thinking, contemplating...I’ll answer him one day I’m sure.
Point is, we have no record to attract greatness. If he signs with us it is a huge gamble.
Note: I’ve taken my black, gold and white goggles off to write this!

No disagreement here.
It will be a very big step for Mitchell to show faith in WT and come here. He will have to be made aware that he will be working for the money in his big contract and he will be carrying the weight of expectations of a lot of people. In my mind it will be the mark of the man if he can carry all that and perform well here. It would be much easier to slide into a side that currently has a good (above average) performance record.
If he does end up here, I'm really hoping that he doesn't end up in the Tedesco trap with the rest of the team giving him the ball and expecting him to make miracles.

This is the decision that could make or break Latrell Mitchell’s career on and off the field: Would you bank your footballing future on the Wests Tigers or the NRL basket case that is the Gold Coast?

The Titans are now the Tigers’ greatest threat in the race for one of the NRL’s most naturally gifted yet enigmatic young stars.

The Tigers have tabled an offer for three years starting in 2021.

But that deal essentially runs for four years from next season providing Mitchell is granted an immediate release from the Sydney Roosters, as expected.

The Tigers’ offer is said to be in the ballpark of $1 million a season.

They also have a genuine belief their club can not only help take Mitchell’s football but his life off the field to the next level during that term.

Given Mitchell is now at the crossroads after being dumped from the NSW State of Origin team this year before the Sydney Roosters grew tired of his antics, the Tigers are convinced they could be as good for him as he could be for them.

Not only would Mitchell be guaranteed the chance to own the fullback position, but the Tigers’ standing within the Sydney community is viewed as a far more powerful proposition than the Titans to elevate Mitchell’s off-field profile.

While the Tigers are yet to put a deadline on negotiations, a final decision is expected this week.

There does remain a genuine concern from within the Tigers that South Sydney could still emerge as a shock late contender for Mitchell.

It is understood the Tigers have only had one face-to-face meeting with Mitchell where coach Michael Maguire, chief executive Justin Pascoe and general manager of football Adam Hartigan put forward their pitch.

@Tiger_Steve ????? They were chasing him last year when he left . The rumour was the contract was already written up awaiting his return this off season . It’s hardly overnight mate .

This would have to be the worst article written yet and that’s saying something. Names the Titans without providing any evidence and the rest of the article is about the Tigers. Another DT “journalist” who’s full off it.

Titans are no threat. Souths are the only ones i believe whoare a threat. They need to move on a player though.

Fair enough. But they’ve secured it quickly is all. Wrapped up the whole process with efficiency.
Just wish our process would be as smooth and hassle free. Maybe then we wouldn’t give the living dead Crawley (have you seen this blokes head?) a chance to write the ridiculous dribble that he somehow calls investigative journalism!!

I would hardly call it hassle free, they invited Latrell up their to get Val to finally make up his mind. That contract has been waiting for him for a long time!

It’s hard though . Valentine is from NQ , has had over a year to negotiate , and has had plenty of time to reconcile his opinions.
LM has had basically 3 weeks , a bushfire hammering his home town , his club telling him to piss off , he’s too much of a headache. And a well deserved holiday .
I wouldn’t be looking for a job in my holidays either . He’s back in reck this week , so we will see where it goes .
My guess is it’s sorted by Friday , one way or another .
Even Ratterson , had since September to negotiate with the eels .

Look I'll be disappointed if we miss out on Latrell but that's footy, we are resilient enough as a club to keep punching on. Part of me wants him to come here just so those moron souths supporters who are already spruiking his signing get a dose of humility if he comes to the mighty tigers..

You do realise they've been talking to him for a year, right?
