Ok . Why ? They’re good footballers. Better than we have now . Im not being smart , I’m just curious . Is it they’re not good footballers ? Or they’re over priced ? In which case then at what price would they not be ?

Because Gagai's club form has been awful and AJ is a winger. We need a fullback. Neither of those guys fix our issues imo.

If Souths can not get Arrow for a year they will have a ton of cap space and 12 months to pull another medical retirement or move a player or two on. I would imagine they are odds on at this stage to get LM and we are very long odds

Of course you'd think that. You’re a pessimist

Bit harsh GNR .....If the report in regards to Arrow not being released by the titans until 2021 is true the rabbitohs at worst are at least equal favourites

Yes Iam a pessimist...but Souths now have the cap space with Arrow being forced to see out his contract. So it would put them in the box seat

And the Roosters will release him to Souths?

Chooks want him out the door, of course they would rather him come to us but when push comes to shove they would release him to anyone.

They certainly hold all the cards if they did not want him at Souths, but like with us with Matterson, it becomes to much of a distraction so better to clean the slate

Congratulations Supercoach! you brought us to 300 with that great post!

The Joker in the pack is JAC. If he is intending to go to Wests Tigers I am sure that would appeal to Mitchell. JAC is a fast NSW State of Origin winger whom I am that Mitchell at fullback would look forward to working with.

Is getting gagai and Johnston really that bad though

Yes.

Ok . Why ? They're good footballers. Better than we have now . Im not being smart , I'm just curious . Is it they're not good footballers ? Or they're over priced ? In which case then at what price would they not be ?

I don't really rate Johnston. He's fast in open space but that's about the most he offers. He has scored a lot of tries on the end of the Rabbitohs back line but I feel like we've stung by someone else who did something similar recently...
Gagai is brilliant in Origin. He seems much less committed at club level. In part I think that's because he is best on the wing and not at centre where he's most often played at (given the size of his contract probably). If you could given Gagai $450K to play on the wing then great, sure. He's not going to go for that though.

I like avo's news clip how Hagipantelis said Politis called him and spoke 'chairmen to chairman'. LM will be taken care of at tigers.

Edit: there's obvious mutual respect for one another and a shared duty of care for Latrell

Uncle Nick doing everything he can to help us here...

Tigers boss: If Latrell's serious about switch, we'll re-open negotiations
DECEMBER 11, 2019
Brad Walter
Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis believes Latrell Mitchell has the opportunity to be part of an exciting new era at the club and confirmed his Sydney Roosters counterpart Nick Politis was supportive of the out-of-favour star moving to Concord.

With Politis and Roosters coach Trent Robinson, according to a NewsCorp report, telling Mitchell on Tuesday that there was no longer the salary cap space to extend his contract after he expressed as desire in an NRL.com interview to remain with the back-to-back premiers, the 22-year-old needs to find a new club.

The Tigers had been the early favourites but withdrew their offer, understood to be valued at almost $1 million per season, after he did not act on it quickly and continued to gauge interest from other clubs.

However, the Tigers made it clear they were prepared to re-open negotiations and Hagipantelis said on Wednesday they were still interested if Mitchell showed a desire to join the club.

"We are actively in the market considering a number of options that are available to us and if Latrell is to be one of those options he is more than welcome to reach out to us," Hagipantelis said.

"At the moment I don’t think we are under any particular pressure, we have got a really talented and healthy roster but it is an active player market at the moment and we want to make sure we are a competitor in that market."

Despite the Tigers announcing that they had withdrawn their offer two weeks ago, Hagipantelis said he had remained in contact with Politis about Mitchell’s future at the Roosters, where he remains contracted for next season.

The Roosters have indicated they would release Mitchell for the 2020 Telstra Premiership and Hagipantelis believes Politis would support him joining the Tigers.

"I have spoken to Nick Politis and I don’t have any doubt about that, I am sure the Nick would be supportive of that," Hagipantelis said.

"Nick has been incredibly transparent throughout this process. He has called me chairman to chairman as a professional courtesy, which I am very appreciative of, and kept us informed.

"Nick has not involved himself in any sort of discussions or negotiations or anything of that kind. It was simply as a professional courtesy to inform me of what the Roosters' position was."

Crazy mad all this and still he won't sign! I'd love to have Mitchell onboard here, I mean in all honesty who wouldn't? However, I must admit with the way it's all been playing out, the whole process is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. We have two very influential blokes in cahoots trying to push a player in a direction he clearly doesn't want to go, despite the big money carrot dangling in front of him! It's like trying to put a cat in a carrier to take it to the vet - if anyone has ever tried it, you'll know what I mean.

Essentially a winger manufactured into a fullback. Much like our fullback.

I think people underestimate the time it takes to secure these deals. Manly were in negotiations with T Brothers for months before they committed to the new deal with no other clubs in the race.It is a huge decision for player and club and when there is more than one club in the mix with things changing every week - it was always going to take some time

i'm of the firm belief that LM would be a draw card to a lot of players wanting to come to WT. It would shift the club on many levels. Culturally; memberships; other players and most importantly winning.

Why would you even bother with these two ... what’s on the books at present is just as good no MAJOR upside . Keep your money and run with what you have and let everything fall into place for 2021 with a bucket load of cash ! a full season to entice the RIGHT types to the club moving forward when the plodders are off loaded!

Which is perfect.

I just don't see how it achieves anything. But that's just my opinion.

Just through observing the commentary from Lee over the course of the recruitment process with Latrell one thing is pretty clear. No matter how this shakes out the WT are not going to die wondering about the opportunity to sign him.

So, who are these other supposed options? Billy Britten?
