He’s an origin and international player who is in the absolute prime of his career. There’s no way $400,000 is his worth.

Agree on 400k but he was 800k at Roosters, he will have been throigh almost 3 months so 25% o the year so the Bunnies would be able to have him on the cap for 600k

I still cant see LM signing for 1 year then having to renegotiate another contract in 12 months time..
unless uncle Wayne is biding his time and may have more money to offer LM in 2021...
as I said there are things happening that we are not aware of...time will tell..

I know it's all rumours, but lets just say that's all accurate.

What does it mean for our club, to be offering double or more then another club and for a much longer and safer term, and to miss out?

It really does make it hard to follow the sport with all dirty agents, clubs and NRL officials.

Sick to death of Fox Sports and their click bait crap. The worst click baiters on the internet with the melodramatic “stunning development on Jai Arrow”. Being released a year early. Wow, no one saw that coming.

So I don’t want to turn this into a political debate but serious question: where the hell do you go now to get honest, objective, unbiased information? It’s just a joke. NRL reporting is just a micro example if a huge societal problem. Yes FOX are terrible but so is every other news related organisation.

The world we live in eh?

It's all about clicks, likes, followers, shares and whos third leg is bigger.... thank you social media.

I can see a "Fairness not Equality" ruling coming in souffs the scum of the leagues favour in about a months time after a very closed scrutiny by the NRL

Mate, come to mine for a few heavy Lager’s then onto NRL Hq to demand new positions created for us as heads of dept. ‘Factual’ media releases and actually non-biased game reporting!!!

It's best to get news from a variety of sources. No one source is perfect, but if you look at a few you get a good idea of what's going on.

Generally anything owned by Rupert Mordor is terrible.

Yep a huge test! The fans are going to want some clarity on the details of the contract if it gets NRL approval. Tigers fans will also want some form of compensation for banning our CEO for 6 months.

If Rabbits only need to come up with $600,000 as you say and they already have $400,000 cap money left then some team will jump at the chance of getting Johnston for $200,000
That's all they wood need to get Mitchell over the line
If it's not us then it's someone else
So it looks like we may have a choice whether we like it or not
Johnston or nothing
If they don't get Arrow for 2020 then they will probably keep Johnston and we still get nothing
Its like a game of chicken
Who's going to crack 1st
Let's hope to rumours about the chooks are true
Then they would need to shed players
Hello Teddy

Mitchell isn't on 800K for 2020 tho...that was the new deal offered by the Rorters for 21/22....

His current contract was signed when he was a youngster...400K Rorters style..

I agree Mitchell has been offered $800k & $1m but he was on only $550k or there about s at the rooters. What value is a 3/4 who has been dropped from origin for poor form.?

It just demonstrates the salary cap is not working. It is meant to be in place to give equal opportunity for all and increasingly all it is doing is ensuring that the glamour clubs pick the eyes out of the best that's available to keep them firmly planted in the top of the competition and the rest of us try to hold onto anything decent and pick up the left overs.

yeah doesn't seem to be working. nrl is top heavy. teams like tigers; titans etc seem to be perennial bottom 8 teams

Mitchells price is determined on if he went to market now that is his worth which is clearly between 800k and 1Mill

OK, then his current price is a Gardham valuation? He would be influenced no doubt by the various clubs’ offers, particularly by the Roosters offer. I get that, but what I don’t understand is why Mitchell slapped a $1m price tag on his back if his intention was to join the rabbits?
It’s made it harder for them to sign him.
Makes me wonder about the wisdom of his advisors. It also raises questions about Mitchell’s prime motivator.

Agree Telltails, it appears to me that the NRL are aware of this issue and are unable to police the rules adequately to ensure the level playing field which you and so many others are crying out for.
Their solution is to change the game. As coaches play to the strength of their playing roster, so does the NRL change the rules to even up the contest.
The NRL would want a competition whereby last years wooden spooners make the finals this year with much the same roster.

It is fine they way it is if they want to keep the strong camped where they are, and the rest to make up the numbers. There has been a real shift since clubs started not honouring contracts and players were shifted like commodities imo.
The weaker clubs may take a risk with some players and screw up their cap for years if it doesn't come off, while the stronger clubs seem to get the best below market value and accomodate any poor signings by offloading them and bringing in a better one without ever signifcantly breaching the cap. May be viewed as sour grapes but if LM saga ends up like we all expect it to it just demonstrates how it currently works.
