Latu Fainu #282

He is 18 and it was his first full game all year - we should be congratulating the club for not throwing him in off a HIA

He is 19 and he played 80 mins in NSW Cup …is there any difference in further HIA risk for someone who was injured 16 days before, between playing NSW Cup or NRL? You are either clear to play or not

Poor kid either pulls a hamstring or gets knocked out , next year maybe his go

maybe they are keeping him in cotton wool until Galvin goes at the end of next year … Im struggling to see where he fits in otherwise…

Galvin will be the 6 next year and JL the 7 if they want their best halves combination to play

If he can sort out his hamstring issues I'd love to see the club turn him into a lock. Really think he could be a revelation there. His defensive technique is great and he's built solidly enough for it. And he would really add a lot to our attack as that link man imo. Watching him on the weekend in a losing side there is just so much class with a lot of his touches

Before that game he had not played 80 mins all year and of course their is less risk of everything in nsw cup. Yes he was cleared but no he hadn't played a full game all season in any grade

I don’t see the difference in head injury risk between the grades personally … you are just as likely to suffer further head injury in NSW Cup as NRL…

What do you expect to happen this week with his selection ?

I think the much higher speed and intensity in NRL would produce significantly more head knocks due to fatigue etc. I guess in Cup techniques would be a little worse which could increase the risk.

On the other hand …fitness is not as high in NSW Cup…leading to more fatigue and incorrect tackling techniques whilst fatigued ..which could result in more head knocks ?

Fox sports article suggesting Latu isnt favoured at the tigers because benji hasn't picked him and other clubs will be sniffing around.

I am pretty sure his injuries have been the reason he's been playing NSW cup.

I know we tried to get him and Galvin together in the halves against the Cowboys at Leichardt before he came off with a HIA.

Just shows how much BS the journos talk.
Fox should be given a please explain letter by the NRL. No club can sniff around Fainu unless Wests Tigers give him permisison. He is under contract for the next 3 seasons. For Fox to suggest this as a potential scenario is a blatant disregard for the NRL rules.

Maybe they might try him at lock or centre, we need someone to fill these gaps

Sezer had a poor game I reckon, in defence especially but also some of his attacking / kicking options weren't great. Why not throw Fainu in and see how he goes with Galvin.
Sezer has had his moments, but overall, he has been very poor given his experience.

He has failed in a number of areas where an aging halfback should at least be competent.

Last tackle options, kicking execution and unforced discipline-based errors just being a couple of areas of issue for him this season.

Geez perfect example of the media spinning crap on us again.

What Benji said was spot on. Bud has been a flop and Latu is lucky to play a full game in any grade atm.

Benji has shown more confidence in picking Latu with zero form or miles in the legs than any other kid.

Latu has been on minutes restrictions in NSW Cup a few times already before playing NRL and then getting injured/knocked out.

Latu is a class above NSW Cup but needs his body to become match fit.

yeah … I guess …. he looks a half to me…although I haven’t seen much of him…. Personally I’m not a fan of picking guys out of position…and he is still young for that next year …could probably do with more time in reserve grade in the halves learning his craft …and then come into NRL the following year when the inevitable happens with Galvin

They are just putting their own spin on what Benji is saying anyway

Benji may well be alluding to the fact that latu isn't match fit to play a full NRL game yet and that's why he says he doesn't have anyone to replace Lachlan

Not that he doesn't believe in latu or have long term plans for him

Journalists just do it for click bait
